    physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
    medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
    During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
    and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
    services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
    will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
    services at the time you request them.
    They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
    however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
    services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
    be paid for by yourself.

The staff at Hartsholme House have always treated my friend with the utmost respect and have consistently put their needs first and the senior management are always available to discuss any issues that may arise. It is a lovely place to be, with friendly and dedicated staff who are professional, respectful
and caring. The home is clean and the food is good.

I cannot speak highly enough of Hartsholme House, or the staff there. My mum was a resident for over 10 years and I am so thankful that I found Hartsholme. The staff, all of them, knew her and knew her likes and dislikes. They were unfailingly kind, courteous, respectful and caring. Her needs were always
put first and they made whatever adaptations and adjustments were necessary. I was always kept informed and consulted. I know that mum was happy, felt safe and cared for. A thank you to everyone from the bottom of my heart.

Hartsholme house is an excellent care home, all the staff are very caring and support the individuals needs on a daily basis. There is a lot of activities for the residents to enjoy and participate in. I am happy that my parents are safe and well looked after.

The staff at Hartsholme House are exemplary. Carers are pleasant, cheerful and respectful of the residents while lead carers manage medication accurately. I have been impressed that the care manager is available to speak to when required; she is skilled and experienced, insightful of resident's needs
and offers good advice.
The administrator is also excellent, she is knowledgeable and gives correct information, is very supportive of families and is kind and helpful to residents and day care service users.
The home is secure, clean and inviting with good facilities and a nice atmosphere.

Our resident is a Religious Sister and a member of the Community of Sisters of Providence. She is now sadly suffering from dementia after a lifetime caring for others. We are extremely impressed by the care that our sister is experiencing. The carers are competent, very patient and fulfil their duties
with kindness and good humour. Most of them seem to have a personal and sympathetic relationship with the client.
When we meet other residents and their relatives, they also seem happy with the situation and functioning of the staff.

I know people who worry about the care their loved ones are getting in homes. I don't worry about my partner's care at all as the staff are so kind, considerate and never rush the residents or become impatient. There is little turnover of staff, so they get to know the residents well. My partner has
been at Hartsholme House for two years now and is gradually deteriorating, as expected. But I have peace of mind as I know he's getting the care he needs.

My mother chose Hartsholme House as respite care for my father in 2020 secretly knowing he would never go home. Mum sadly passed away three months later knowing dad was now being cared for. Hartsholme House has continued to care for dad in the best possible ways, all his needs are met and although he
suffers from dementia and Parkinson's and is now completely immobile he continues to thrive. Thank you and congratulations to all the staff for all you do and if any of you should read this now. Merry Christmas.

My Dad has been resident at Hartsholme House since Nov 21 and I have nothing but praise for the standard of care he receives. It is not just a place to live but a place to call home. The staff are kind, caring and person centred, respectful of each individuals needs, accommodating their likes and dislikes
and embracing their personalities. Dad has always felt safe and settled here, not easy to achieve when you live with dementia, and I am able to relax knowing he is well looked after. I would not hesitate to recommend Hartsholme House to anyone.

My mother in law has been in the home 5 months now. The staff have been excellent no matter their job, they are always willing to support the residents and go out of their way to meet their needs.
They provide excellent care, residents are treated and cared for as if they were part of their own family.

My mum, who has mixed type dementia, aged 94 has been at Hartsholme House for 3 years. The home was recommended to me by a neighbour and I can't thank the staff enough who not only care for mum but take the time to help myself and family through this very difficult time.
The home is spotlessly clean,
warm, homely and the food is prepared by excellent chefs and kitchen staff. Some of the staff have been there a long time which is testament to a good management team. It's a place I would recommend without hesitation.

Mom moved here from another home in April. The staff did everything to make her feel welcome and she settled in very well. What was immediately evident was the excellent standard of care that she was receiving. The staff are all patient, kind and compassionate and they maintain a cheery disposition
and a sense of humour no matter what. We are so impressed. Hartsholme House is fantastic and is a credit to the Order of St. John's Trust.

To be honest there are not enough superlatives to describe the simply outstanding wonderful, care given to residents here. The staff are absolutely fantastic, with genuine warmth combined with professionalism, friendliness, patience and incredible understanding. I had the privilege of staying almost
24/7 during (ex)husband's last days and everything about Hartsholme House showed that there couldn't possibly have been a better place for him to be in the last phase of his life. Loving care, dignity, patience, friendly professionalism, everything was utterly faultless. We can never thank you enough.

Cheryl

Cheryl Gilderdale

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2012

The forty three residents at Hartsholme House are looked after by a highly dedicated team of staff that include carers, administrators and ancillary staff. They are led by the Manager who is supported by a Head of Care and a team of Senior Carers.


Cheryl Gilderdale has been the manager of Hartsholme House since April 2012. Cheryl has been with the Trust for over 17 years’ and has great knowledge and experience in caring for the elderly in residential and dementia care settings.


Cheryl has always enjoyed caring for the elderly and in she joined Hartsholme House in 2010 as Head of Care before taking over as Manager


As well as NVQ level 4 in Health and Social Care. She has completed numerous short courses covering all aspects of caring for the elderly these ensure that all residents, residential, and dementia receive the best care from staff. Cheryl has also completed the Alzheimer’s Society leadership training programme, Champions in Dementia, which ensures the appropriate care is maintained for residents with Dementia


Cheryl sets high standards of conduct and performance for herself and her staff. As a result she is proud that the last inspection of the home by- the Commission for Social Care Inspection, has successfully rated them as meeting, or exceeding, the standards of care expected.


Conny

Conny McGowan

Job Title: Head of Care

Joined: 2007

Conny, our Head of Care at Hartsholme House, initially joined the Trust in 2007 as a Carer at Hartsholme House and soon after was appointed as Care Leader, having already completed her NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care. Whilst working at The Poplars, Conny was offered the role of Head of Care and spent four years there before re-joining the team at Hartsholme House in 2012, continuing in the position as Head of Care. Conny achieved her Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care in 2015 and the continued her education with the Open University and was very proud to be granted a First Class Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology.

Conny is passionate about dementia care and works closely with her team members. She values ideas and suggestions to improve, not only ways of working, but also to promote the quality of life for each individual resident at Hartsholme House and is involved with innovative projects which will benefit the residents. Conny is proud to be part of a team that achieved an ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating in their last inspection, and she works hard to maintain a high standard in person-centred care.

Conny, in her spare time, enjoys reading, playing badminton and spending time with her family.


Paula

Paula Robinson

Job Title: Head Housekeeper

Joined: 2006

Paula Robinson is the Head Housekeeper at Hartsholme House and has been with the Trust since 2006.


Paula started as a relief Housekeeper and Laundress and progressed to Head Housekeeper in 2013, achieving her NVQ Level 3 in Hospitality, Supervision and Leadership.


Paula and her team work hard daily to ensure that the home is cleaned to a high standard and enjoys positive feedback from the families regarding the cleanliness of the home.


When Paula is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, eating out, DIY and gardening.


Tracy

Tracy Pattle

Job Title: Administration Assistant

Tracy is the Administration Assistant at Hartsholme House. She has worked in the Health and Social Care sector since 2004 after working in London as a Portfolio Administrator for many years. Tracy obtained her NVQ level 3 in Business Administration in 2009 and enjoys the varied days that the Health and Social Care sector brings.


After becoming the primary carer for various family members, she understands the challenges that are faced by families when choosing the correct person-centred care provision. She hopes that she, and her family's experience, can help others find the right care provider.


In her free time, Tracy enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and watching movies.
