    Services NOT included in price are: dentistry, chiropody,
    physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
    medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
    During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
    and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
    services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
    will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
    services at the time you request them.
    They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
    however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
    services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
    be paid for by yourself.

I have been at Hartsholme House for only two months. I was physically very ill on arrival. The care and attention I was given was excellent. Now relatively well and self-sufficient. I am happy to express my opinions. The staff are attentive, friendly, cheerful and when possible will spare a few minutes
to chat. This is most welcome for someone still with a working brain. Their day is busy and must be very stressful. I cannot fault the management at all who listened to my requests and acted very quickly to provide answers and take action when feasible.

We had to put Mum into a care home in March 2023 as she was elderly and had dementia and needed around-the-clock care, which we couldn't provide. The home was very clean and run by staff who cared for the patients rather than just doing a job. Sadly Mum passed away at the beginning of December. During
those last few weeks, the staff provided extra care for Mum and were very supportive of us, as we watched Mum pass.

Placing Mum in Hartsholme House was the best decision I've made in respect of her care. The staff are excellent; they treat residents with genuine warmth, friendliness and humanity.
The nursing care is also first rate and Mum's dementia is noticeably more stable since she moved there. I live a long
way away but their activities coordinator facilitates regular video call sessions which is greatly appreciated.
I wouldn't want Mum to be looked after anywhere else.

My mother was a resident at Hartsholme House for nearly 7 years, during which time she was perfectly contented. The care that she received was excellent, the staff are friendly, competent and sympathetic to the resident's needs. The low turnover of staff helps maintain a consistent quality of care.
Activities at Hartsholme House are thoughtfully arranged to be stimulating and are appropriate to residents' interests and needs.

After consultation with the Management team, we decided Hartsholme House was the preferred place for her later years, as she was clearly not safe being on her own at home, even though she had care. She was brought in on 14th June, and on our first visit on 18th June and all subsequent visits the uplift
in mum's mood, demeanour, and physically, has been amazing. So a massive thank you to you all at Hartsholme House.

My mum was cared for and loved by the staff of this lovely home. The home is well run by the manager is hands-on with the residents who live there. The staff are wonderful very professional, caring, hardworking and patient. My mum was well cared for, always looked nice, and her room and the whole home
were kept immaculate. I felt happy in the knowledge that the staff did their very best for my mum. Mum passed away in the home. I was cared for too as I sat with my mum. I recommend this home sincerely.

Before my husband was resident in Hartsholme House he had respite care occasionally in two other homes which were nearer to my home. I was very unhappy with both as they failed on several accounts. My sister has been at this care home for over three years. She continues to thrive, benefitting from the caring environment. The excellent leadership and proactive individualised care is ensuring a comfortable and safe place for her. She is free to take part in the many activities here if she chooses
to do so or she can choose to have a quiet read in the privacy of her room that her carer has thoughtfully made very cosy and her own space. She loves the view from her bedroom which overlooks a lovely courtyard which is bursting in colour especially in springtime with all the blossoms. There is support for us relatives through regular meetings and online support group which is really useful. My family and I are grateful to everyone at this home for working so hard to provide a warm, caring and safe space for her in her latter years. Seeing my sister so content, at peace and at home is a testament to the care she is receiving from the whole team. Thank you.

In my experience as the daughter of a resident and a Healthcare Professional, Hartsholme House is a truly fabulous care home! The excellence starts at the top with the absolute dedication, integrity and kindness of both the Home Manager and Head of Care. Recruitment of suitable staff seems to be key,
as their warm personalities light up the home. The staff exhibit genuine love for Mum which makes her feel truly special! Having Mum living in a care home has been a steep learning curve for me. However, it continues to be an absolute pleasure working with the Hartsholme House team to help facilitate her best possible life. I have experienced many examples of individual staff going above and beyond and I am truly appreciative. The senior team understands very clearly what is important in caring for their residents and although it cannot always be easy, they seem relentless in pursuit of perfection. Outstanding care, cleanliness, catering and fun activities! Thank you Hartsholme House!

Since my mother has been a resident of Hartsholme House, we have been treated with kindness, understanding and compassion.
Mum gets on with the majority of the carers and nothing is too much trouble for them. The home itself is kept immaculately clean and tidy. My Mothers bedroom is of a good size
and well-presented. There is adequate storage space but the sink is enclosed in a vanity unit and is therefore not wheelchair accessible.
Hartsholme has adequate parking for visitors and has lovely gardens but they could do with the gardens being more regularly maintained.
All in all, I would recommend Hartsholme House to anyone who is having to consider care for their loved one.

My mother spent the last four years of her life in Hartsholme House and we were very impressed by the care shown not only to her but to us, her family especially in the last few weeks of her life. The staff took the trouble to get to know residents and have dealt with the constraints imposed by Covid
in a sensible way doing all they can to protect the residents from infection.
In the final weeks of my mother's life we were kept fully informed of her condition and were able to visit. A granddaughter who couldn't visit was able to have a video call which she found very helpful.

Cheryl

Cheryl Gilderdale

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2012

The forty three residents at Hartsholme House are looked after by a highly dedicated team of staff that include carers, administrators and ancillary staff. They are led by the Manager who is supported by a Head of Care and a team of Senior Carers.


Cheryl Gilderdale has been the manager of Hartsholme House since April 2012. Cheryl has been with the Trust for over 17 years’ and has great knowledge and experience in caring for the elderly in residential and dementia care settings.


Cheryl has always enjoyed caring for the elderly and in she joined Hartsholme House in 2010 as Head of Care before taking over as Manager


As well as NVQ level 4 in Health and Social Care. She has completed numerous short courses covering all aspects of caring for the elderly these ensure that all residents, residential, and dementia receive the best care from staff. Cheryl has also completed the Alzheimer’s Society leadership training programme, Champions in Dementia, which ensures the appropriate care is maintained for residents with Dementia


Cheryl sets high standards of conduct and performance for herself and her staff. As a result she is proud that the last inspection of the home by- the Commission for Social Care Inspection, has successfully rated them as meeting, or exceeding, the standards of care expected.


Conny

Conny McGowan

Job Title: Head of Care

Joined: 2007

Conny, our Head of Care at Hartsholme House, initially joined the Trust in 2007 as a Carer at Hartsholme House and soon after was appointed as Care Leader, having already completed her NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care. Whilst working at The Poplars, Conny was offered the role of Head of Care and spent four years there before re-joining the team at Hartsholme House in 2012, continuing in the position as Head of Care. Conny achieved her Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care in 2015 and the continued her education with the Open University and was very proud to be granted a First Class Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology.

Conny is passionate about dementia care and works closely with her team members. She values ideas and suggestions to improve, not only ways of working, but also to promote the quality of life for each individual resident at Hartsholme House and is involved with innovative projects which will benefit the residents. Conny is proud to be part of a team that achieved an ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating in their last inspection, and she works hard to maintain a high standard in person-centred care.

Conny, in her spare time, enjoys reading, playing badminton and spending time with her family.


Paula

Paula Robinson

Job Title: Head Housekeeper

Joined: 2006

Paula Robinson is the Head Housekeeper at Hartsholme House and has been with the Trust since 2006.


Paula started as a relief Housekeeper and Laundress and progressed to Head Housekeeper in 2013, achieving her NVQ Level 3 in Hospitality, Supervision and Leadership.


Paula and her team work hard daily to ensure that the home is cleaned to a high standard and enjoys positive feedback from the families regarding the cleanliness of the home.


When Paula is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, eating out, DIY and gardening.


Tracy

Tracy Pattle

Job Title: Administration Assistant

Tracy is the Administration Assistant at Hartsholme House. She has worked in the Health and Social Care sector since 2004 after working in London as a Portfolio Administrator for many years. Tracy obtained her NVQ level 3 in Business Administration in 2009 and enjoys the varied days that the Health and Social Care sector brings.


After becoming the primary carer for various family members, she understands the challenges that are faced by families when choosing the correct person-centred care provision. She hopes that she, and her family's experience, can help others find the right care provider.


In her free time, Tracy enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and watching movies.
