All staff are polite and willing to help. My brother is always looking smart and clean. He always eats all his meals, which he seems to enjoy. The room he lives in is always kept neat and tidy, bins are always emptied and it never smells like some homes do.

The carers and manager are all very pleasant towards residents and relatives. There is varying degrees of people with dementia, so it is a difficult job, they all do their best under difficult circumstances. The food is very good. The care is good and the rooms are nice.
One thing I do like it the
fact that whatever the residents do the staff go along with it as long as it's not harming themselves or others. There are activities and singers etc., come to the home to entertain the residents and they have outings too.

When I arrive there is always a smile and a welcome. If anything is not well I am always told straight away. The residents are well looked after with food and drink, always clean and tidy. Plenty of entertainment each week, sometimes twice.

My wife who is in the later stages of dementia has been a resident of St Michaels for the last four years. During this time I have never had a moment's concern. The manager and staff are all kind and considerate, nothing is too much trouble, problems are dealt with immediately.
I would have no hesitation
in recommending St Michaels to anyone who requires this kind of care.

The team at St Micheal's looked after my dad for the last year of his life and we found them to be caring, compassionate, warm and friendly. They laughed with him, listened to what he wanted and how he wanted it done, they listened and shared in his war stories. They brought us tea and biscuits when
we visited they supported us as a family right to the end. In short, they are remarkable people doing a remarkable job and I cannot recommend both the management and staff at St Micheal's highly enough.

My mother was in the Care Home suffering from Alzheimer's between late 2013 and January 2017 when, sadly, she passed away. Throughout that time she was looked after with consideration and thoughtfulness by all the staff. The home always appeared to be clean and the staff attentive to all the residents
from what we could see.

At the time of her death and just after we were shown complete courtesy and understanding by the staff, in particular, those in a senior position and it was clear that they had all formed something of a bond with my mother despite the nature of her illness which caused her to be very difficult and out of character at times.

The attendance at the funeral and afterwards by staff was deeply appreciated and provided an opportunity for the family to express their appreciation for a job well done.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.158)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.158) out of 10 for St Michael's is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.783 for St Michael's is calculated as follows: ( (18 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 23 Ratings = 4.783

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.375 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Michael's is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.25

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
