Took brother-in-law out for lunch. All staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and tidy.

My dad has lived at St Oggs for many years now and is happy in his home. Since it’s been under new management his care has improved even more. I live far away now and don’t get to see him as much but the manager is excellent at maintaining communication and ensuring I’m up to date with any information
regarding my dad and goes above and beyond to support and care for my dad.
When I visit my dad he is now always dressed in clean clothes, freshly showered and hair kept trimmed and smart. It’s lovely to see him take pride in his appearance again and it’s evident he has an improved personal hygiene routine. I would like to see Dad go out a bit more and have the opportunity to socialise a bit, he loves football so visits to a local match from time to time would mean a lot to him. Overall I’m very happy with the care my father receives and would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the staff at St Oggs for their hard work.

My thanks and best wishes to all the staff at St Ogg's Care Home for their continuing care and support of my brother and great friendship and help to me when visiting. Just to mention three ladies who are three of the best of a fantastic care home team. My thanks and best wishes.

We are treated with respect when we visit the home.
The outdoor pod was a big help in visiting through the Covid period.

My son went into this care home in April this year. He was extremely distressed and has serious mental health problems. The staff have been amazing with him, and lately, we have seen great improvement in his mental health. They are so patient with him, and every time I ring up, they always have time
for a chat. He seems really settled there, and that gives me peace of mind. I can't praise them enough; they do a grand job.

My brother has lived in this care home for several years. He is unable to live alone due to mental health issues and some medical problems.
His medical problems have escalated in recent times.
They have been extremely caring and keep us (his family) up to date on all problems and his care.
We have
been reassured at every step.

My son is a vulnerable adult, he has had a traumatic adult life, my wish for a long time has been that my son would come to live at St Ogss after hearing nothing but positive reviews on the running of the home and the care given by the staff. My son got a place and he is a different person, he is happy
and loves his new home. The staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble, I am kept updated on how my son is doing, I visit regularly and I am always made to feel welcome. The home is very well managed, it is homely and spotless. The staff are all genuine carers it's not just a job to them, the residents are number 1 priority. My son is happy and finally I can sleep at night knowing he is in the best hands.

My brother-in-law is resident at St Ogg's care home, his sister and I have supported him for a considerable number of years. Despite our own best efforts, my brother-in-law has fluctuating mental problems, where at times he can be very difficult.
We visit St Oggs on a regular basis and speak with the
manager and other staff whilst visiting our relative. We are always made welcome, we have been shown around to see how people are supported and cared for at the home and there is always transparency on any issues we may discuss. Our concerns are always listened to and background information or history is always accepted as helpful.
The home is always clean and there is always a cleaner at work whenever we visit. It's is notable that all of the staff speak to residents as part of a family which is reassuring. There is a nice canteen within the home, where the cook too, welcomes all and speaks in a very uplifting manner to residents.
We would highly recommend St Oggs.

St Ogg's presents as a place where the service users feel is a "home" rather than an "institution". It has a nice atmosphere. The cafeteria is beautifully decorated and if the weather is nice, the service users can sit outside and eat at the tables and chairs provided in the garden just outside the
cafeteria.
The rooms are very nicely furnished and cleanliness seems to be of a high standard.
I am of the opinion the manager has an excellent team working at St Ogg's. It is clear they use a "person-centred approach" to help give the service users an individual care package, ensuring they have a happy life there.

I would like to inform you of the kindness and compassion of the staff at St Ogg's residential home. My brother died unexpectedly in hospital and the manager and all the staff were very helpful when my sister and I travelled to Gainsborough from Yorkshire. The manager helped us to go to the hospital
to get the paperwork and register the death. As we didn't know the area it made a very difficult day bearable by driving us to these venues. All the staff have been lovely with our brother who had severe mental health problems, he was there for seven years.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.670)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.670) out of 10 for St Ogg's is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.706 for St Ogg's is calculated as follows: ( (24 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 34 Ratings = 4.706

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.964 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Ogg's is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 21 registered maximum number of service users is 4.2. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.2 = 0.714

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
