My mother has been at Roxholm Hall Care Centre for five years and she is happy and well cared for. The centre is well run and the staff are helpful and friendly. The rural location is beautiful as my mother comes from a farming background.
Covid has been very difficult for us all but we have been kept
informed of all developments and updates.

I visited my dad with my son on the 3rd of June under relaxed Covid rules. The staff were helpful and pleasant and after a negative Covid test my dad joined us in a pleasant room on the ground floor. He was looking very healthy and it was obvious that he had received good care in the home from the staff,
as when he went in last year he did not look as well as he did this visit. The staff were knowledgeable and gave me an update on his care so far and it was lovely to see my dad again after a long time due to Covid. It is clear the staff care for their residents and it is a lovely place for my dad to stay.
The only thing that could be improved is having rails for disabled visitors in the toilet in the entrance, as I am disabled and needed help to use this.

Reply from Gill Freear, Home manager at Roxholm Hall Care Centre

Thank you for taking the time to review us. We do pride ourselves in ensuring our residents receive the best care possible and have a good quality of life which does have a positive impact on their general well being. We have taken on board your feedback and new rails will be installed in the entrance toilet.

I would like to say how much we as a family appreciate Roxholm Hall Care Centre for the care and support you have shown towards us, especially towards my father who recently spent 4 weeks with you. You were always there to answer the telephone and the many questions we asked; your openness and willingness
to help. So, a big thank you for the homely friendly atmosphere: a cat to comfort Dad, extra food to build him up and a big suitcase of absolutely clean clothes for him to bring home!

Reply from Gill Freear, Home Manager at Roxholm Hall Care Centre

Thank you so much for taking the time to review us. The staff take great pride in the high standard of care they deliver and it is nice to see their efforts acknowledged.

My mother-in-law has been in Roxholm Hall for 3 months, she went there for respite and to build her up after having 2 weeks in hospital. The team led by the manager are extremely professional and put my mum-in-law's health and safety and welfare throughout her stay. The team became very fond of her
and she of them. I could hear them laughing together when I rang. It's been difficult due to covid, but she was safe, well cared for and happy.

My wife spent 2 years in Roxholm Hall suffering from dementia. Her physical health was also poor. Throughout this time, she was treated with extreme care and above all, with tenderness and love. From the lady manager to the youngest carer, she was treated as if she was their own mother/grandmother.
I shall be ever grateful for their skill and kindness and love (which was extended to me also) right to the end.

My husband has been in Roxholm on three separate occasions for respite and he thoroughly enjoys his week there. The staff are very welcoming and friendly as soon as you enter the building and the bedrooms are always clean and comfortable. He says that the food is excellent and I can relax whilst he
is there as I know that he is being very well cared for.
The inside of the home may not look like a five-star hotel but the super staff and the care that they provide far outweighs this. My husband and I are extremely pleased that we have found Roxholm and I can enjoy a well-earned break whilst he is being well cared for.

Dad went to stay for a fortnight and liked it so much, he has made it his permanent home. He loves the food, particularly Saturday brunch. The staff are so friendly and efficient and Dad enjoys having a banter with them. His room has a lovely view of the fields. I am so happy Dad decided to stay. Roxholm
meet all of his needs and are so easy to approach.

This is so lovely to hear....it can be a very stressful time for all moving into a care setting but so glad your dad can call Roxholm Hall his home.

Mum has been in the home since March 2018. It was a great relief to know Mum was being cared for 24 hours a day and took the worry from us, her family, knowing she was safe and well.
The staff are all well trained and seem to enjoy their work and give a personal feel as it is Mum's home now. They are
very helpful and always available to chat about any concerns we have.
Thank you.

My mum has been a resident at Roxholm for 3 years.
Our first impressions were of a poor standard of decor however the staff and level of care were excellent.
Improvements have since been made to the decor and new bathrooms have been installed.
The quality of staff and care have remained excellent.
My
only quibble is that communication with families could be improved.

Reply from Juliet Peall, Regional Manager at Roxholm Hall Care Centre

Unfortunately, the Manager is currently absent from the home but I will ask her on her return to arrange to meet with you and discuss ways to improve communication. Thank you again.

The family, but more so myself, wish to acknowledge the wonderful care my 93-year-old mother received during her end of life care. Mum's last hours were peaceful. Nothing was too much trouble, even when my brother and I stayed the last night with her. We were made comfortable and supplied with blankets,
tea, coffee and food. I remained with mum as my brother had business to attend too.
The under manager never left my side during mum's last hours. She talked me through the stages of body changes and was with me until mum passed away. Everything was peaceful and pain-free.
I will never forget her exceptional kindness and compassion. The night staff were caring and attentive. I cannot fault anything during the whole process. Thank you is not enough for the care mum had, Bless you all. My brother backs up my thanks and from the bottom of my heart, I wish all in the same position could experience the same loving care mum received. Heartfelt thanks.

Both my parents came to Roxholm in January 2018. My father was seriously ill and after three more hospital visits returned, in his own words, “home” to die. The manager found a more suitable room to accommodate the extra equipment, the staff sat with dad when we couldn’t and supported us through it
all. Mum was fighting her own battles and was unaware of dad’s passing. She was admitted to hospital again and it seemed would soon follow dad. But, with the help of the staff, she improved. Today she is as fit as is possible. She joins in the activities - bingo is one of her favourites. She plays scrabble with other residents. She enjoys all the food prepared by the kitchen staff, even regaining the weight she lost before being admitted.
There have been a lot of improvements in the home since 2018 including the refurbishment of en-suites, decorating of rooms, fitting of a specialist bath (which mum loves). Most importantly though, mum is really happy here and that is down to all the staff.

The manager appeared to be permanently angry and impatient, always giving the impression she would rather not be there. Also rude and disrespectful to staff. Always felt not enough staff. No stimulation for residents, seemed constantly disorganised. Food prep and presentation is very poor. Generally
tired in and out, lacks any maintenance. I noted a number of security/safety breaches.

Reply from Juliet Peall, Regional Manager at Roxholm Hall Care Centre

Thank you for taking the time to add a review. I understand your father was under 'Transitional Care Team' so was being rehabilitated by the Community Services in order for him to return home, so was only with us for a short period of time. I apologise if we have fallen below the service you expected, however, the service has had a total refurbishment programme and our Estates team deal with any issues inside and outside of the home on a day to day basis. I note you mention security/safety breaches, we pride ourselves on the safety and security of our residents and staff and would be grateful if you could contact our Head Office and speak with the Estates Team about these issues. The home has a programme of events which take place in and outside of the home but of course, not all residents will wish to participate, as is their choice. Our homes are inspected by EHO, CQC and Local Authority, who have had no concerns in regards to our food preparation areas and currently hold 5* with EHO. Our residents are surveyed about what food they would like on the menu and these are planned accordingly, one of our Cooks is an Ex RAF Chef so he prides himself on the presentation of his food. We are always open to suggestions about ways to improve our service, so feel free to contact us to discuss further. Thank you once again.

My uncle was transferred to Roxholm for transitional care after a short stay in hospital. I had no idea what to expect when I visited for the first time.
I found helpful, caring and friendly staff in a safe, warm and comfortable home from home.
During his four weeks stay, he had a problem which required
admission to hospital for two nights. This arranged by the staff and district nurse and I was kept informed at all times. Although Uncle wanted to go home, he appreciated all the help and care received.

We cannot thank you enough for all the care and kindness from your team, also the care and management, especially when we came to collect mum's things.
The home was spotlessly clean and not a smell of urine which takes a lot of work to maintain.
So a big thank you.

For the past 18 months plus, the care for my mother was excellent.
Getting her walking again within 7-10 days after a stay in hospital. The nursing and caring staff could not have been more caring or professional. My father was with you for only 5 weeks. Again the time, care and attention he received
was second to none. So a big, big thank you from their daughters and family.

My mother was taken to Roxholm Hall on 30/11/18 and I visited for the first time on the 01/12/18 and we received a really warm welcome on entering the home and we were taken to my mother's room. The home is clean and smells nice. All the staff are very cheerful and friendly and can't do enough to make
the residents comfortable.

My father-in-law spent his final few weeks at Roxholm Hall, whilst there he was treated with the utmost dignity, care and respect. All of the staff at the home were extremely attentive. As a family, we knew he was in very good, caring hands. We know his final days at the home were as emotional for the
family but also for the staff as it was obvious, they cared too.
We have not one bad comment to make about the home or staff.

What an amazing place. Our mum needed respite while our dad had a break and Roxholm Hall was offered as a place and we couldn't be happier. It's a listed building that still has some wonderful, what looks like, original features and old-world charm. The gardens are extensive and pleasant to walk through.
The surrounding countryside is quiet and perfect for a care home.

The manager made sure mum was prepared for her stay, and all the staff made mum feel welcome. Her room was clean and well presented on arrival, and every time we've visited, her room was either already clean or was in the process of being cleaned. No foul smells! The food looked delicious. And the staff smile and enjoy conversing with everyone. Mum has praised the food - there's plenty and it's tasty (except she'd like more choice in cake, she has a very sweet tooth) - the staff - always friendly and never talk down to her - and the cleanliness. All wonderful praise from mum as she can be quite particular.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.632)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.632) out of 10 for Roxholm Hall Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.832 for Roxholm Hall Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (79 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.832

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Roxholm Hall Care Centre is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 39 registered maximum number of service users is 7.8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
