Must concur with all the positive reviews. I will keep it brief. My mother was lucky enough to secure a place in this wonderful, caring establishment and has now been a resident for a couple of months.
She is happy, cared for, and contented. All of the caring team are superb. (Genuinely).
Many thanks.

During a very difficult month, Mum became a resident at Russell Green. The home is clean, friendly and feels like a home, not a clinic. The care manager and deputy have gone out of their way to help both myself and Mum adjust to this change, especially through Covid. They have been by our side and kept
us going. If all homes had this touch it would be wonderful.

After having several dealings with care homes I thought I would write a review of Russell Green Care Home in Woodhall Spa. The quality of care in the home is exceptional and it has a wonderful homely feel, the atmosphere is warm, welcoming and cheerful. During lockdown the dedicated staff have provided
the residents with a clean, comfortable, safe, loving environment, giving the best care possible. All the residents' needs are met with dignity, compassion and respect. The devotion of the manager who goes above and beyond, giving the most outstanding care possible, nothing is ever too much trouble and the well-being of the residents always comes first, offering family members reassurance during these difficult times. Keeping family members up to date with the health and welfare of their loved ones, she is always at the end of a phone day or night if needed and I would most definitely recommend this care home

My sister in law spent 13 months at this care home suffering from memory loss/Alzheimer’s.
From the day she arrived until decease, she was treated as a member of a loving and caring family.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, particularly when items of jewellery were lost or mislaid (a frequent
occurrence).
I shudder to think how many times her hearing aid got “lost”. The food was excellent and provided a wide choice.
The home kept in regular touch, updating us as and when required.

My mother has been a resident for nearly two years. We have found that a high standard of quality of care is provided by staff, who are very caring and supportive. The home is very convivial and as regular visitors (before Coronovirus restrictions), it is evident that the residents are well looked
after in a very relaxed, friendly atmosphere which has continued during the lockdown.
Events are well informed to us, i.e. newsletter and also notice boards with 'what's on'. We can ring anytime, to speak with the manager and staff.
I am thankful that Mother is in such a caring home, particularly in these difficult times.
The beautiful garden and summer house is used daily in what is a lovely secure environment.

In April 2019 we moved my mother to Russell Green after moving to Woodhall Spa ourselves earlier in the year.
Although it was a worrying time for both Mum and ourselves as she was suffering from dementia, the decision was made easier as her elder sister was already living there very happily.
From
the moment Mum moved in, the professionalism of nursing, love and care was exemplary, and the manager and her team were an absolute credit, showing great tenderness right to Mum's very peaceful end at the ripe old age of 97.
It helped the family so much knowing that Mum was in such good hands.
Our very grateful thanks.

I cannot speak highly enough about this superb care home, and it's wonderful highly dedicated and caring staff. My mother-in-law has been in this home for four years, and in all that time, the care, love and attention to her needs have been outstanding.
I have always been welcomed with open arms during
my regular weekly visits (pre - virus), and even now, when I cannot visit, the home keeps me updated on my mother-in-law's condition. She has been looked after so well in a very clean and inviting environment with superb food and a wide choice of food as my mother's request.
The staff work tremendously hard with a smile and patience, and I know that my mother-in-law is very happy and contented at Russell Green. I would have no hesitation in recommending this outstanding facility to my friends. It is very reassuring for me to know that my mother-in-law is a resident of such a wonderful place.

We have a long association with the home and the staff feel like members of our family. They are always welcoming when we visit and during the present COVID-19 crisis they have been exceptional. Keeping us up to date with developments and providing first-class care for everyone. Having closed the home
to visitors two weeks before the national lockdown they ensured the safety of all resident sand staff.

We brought my mam here for a 2-week respite with a view to full-time residency. She had been diagnosed with dementia a couple of years back, however, things had progressed and she had had a couple of falls, was losing weight fast and generally not looking after herself. Within a month she was beginning
to look brighter and putting weight on. She has been there for around four months and the difference in her is amazing, she is singing and dancing, laughing and helping.
This residence is a hotel for the elderly, not a home. The staff are all welcoming, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The residents get to go to the Kinema, have singers, musicians, local school children to visit and much much more.

Moving a family member into a care home is a daunting experience. However, Russell Green is a gem where care means CARE!
This is a real 'home' for the residents where they are made most welcome in a family atmosphere. The staff treat all the residents as individuals and get to know everybody really
well.
There is freedom for the residents to partake of all the local events outside the home, within their capabilities.
Birthdays are a special time for every resident and they are celebrated by the residents, staff and family with a party, with all the trimmings, cake, party food, balloons etc.

Russell Green care home. This is more like a small Boutique Hotel than a care home. Situated in a quiet tree-lined avenue 5 mins from the centre of Woodhall Spa. The home encompasses beautiful well kept gardens with an abundance of wildlife. Inside the home is also beautiful and exceptionally clean.
The care afforded to the residents by the care team and managers is outstanding and above excellent. The difference is they care! The food is excellent.

Our father had Parkinson's disease and dementia and was cared for by Russell Green on a variety of levels. Initially, we used the facility that allowed hot food to be delivered to the home. The service was prompt and efficient and the staff member always had time for a chat and a check on the welfare
of both of our parents. In addition, our father began to attend the home twice a week for daycare. We were extremely happy with the standard of care that he received. He particularly enjoyed the exercise class on a Thursday. A period of full-time respite care led to full-time care for the final weeks of our father’s life. During these weeks our family was warmly welcomed at each visit and we were kept extremely well informed about our father’s health by the efficient and passionate management team. At all times, our father was treated with dignity, compassion and respect by the staff. Russell Green continues to support our mother and we value the support that they have given to our family.

My father spent the last 8 weeks of his life at Russell Green as his health declined rapidly and as we found it increasingly difficult to care for him at home. At all times I found the team at RG extremely professional, friendly, welcoming, caring and responsive to Dad's complex needs, even organising
special equipment in his room to make his life more comfortable. They were in constant contact with our family whenever the need arose, either by 'phone or by email, and we always felt that we could visit Dad at any time and share mealtimes with him. As this is a small care home the staff know their residents very well and aim to respond to their individual needs in a family environment. Medication, balanced meals and liquids are administered efficiently. The sensory garden is a beautiful outdoor space for the more mobile residents. The regular programme of activities and events keep the residents stimulated and motivated.

Russell Green provided a daily meals service for two years, and a full residential service for seven months, until my stepfather's death. I cannot speak highly enough about the quality of service provided. In particular, the ability to anticipate and adapt to his changing needs as his condition deteriorated,
was very impressive. Communication with our family was first class throughout and the facilities at the home were excellent. What struck me most was the level of care delivered by all the staff. People talk about going the extra mile to provide a high-quality service, but in my view, the staff at Russell Green completed several marathons in providing brilliant end of life care for a man who was lucky to end his days at this Care Home.

Mum had been in care here for nearly 3 years. When she first went in she gained weight, ate better and was so well looked after for all her care and social needs that it was a huge load off my mind. Her health and mobility gradually decreased, as did her memory and cognitive ability but the staff dealt
with this very professionally. After Christmas Mum (at the age of 95) decided she had had enough of life and pain and gradually slipped away, dying peacefully on 14th January. Throughout this time the home was in contact with me (I live some distance away) so that I always knew what was happening. All the staff on duty that day were with her when she died - they were her 'family' and three were able to attend her funeral - genuinely upset at her passing.

My wife was admitted to Russel Green Care Home after falling three times while in care at her home. She was diagnosed with dementia and gradually became confined to bed. Her room is overlooking the gardens. She has a bed that is completely adjustable for her to see out of the window. She responds to
music/tv etc. The staff are all wonderful, 100% dedicated, kind and caring both to her and myself.

The care given to my stepmother (who has lost mental capacity and is bed bound) is outstanding. Her room has been furnished with sensory stimulating ornaments and whenever staff enter the room they make the effort to interact with her to provide additional stimulation. She is always treated with dignity
and kept clean. The staff are always polite and friendly and swift to offer cups of coffee which is a lovely gesture when you have travelled a couple of hours to visit. A fantastic care home!

We had to ask my mother to move into care. Although she had said she would have to go "somewhere" before winter, she was not happy but she gets muddled and tearful when things go wrong and can't cope. The staff are very helpful and caring and the manager is open to constructive criticism and always
willing to listen and interact with residents and relatives.

The care my Aunt has been receiving is exemplary. Staff at Russell Green frequently go above and beyond to take the greatest of care with her. All her needs are met with compassion, dignity and humour when needed. As a family, we are always kept fully updated on her health and welfare. I cannot put
into words how grateful we all are as a family. I am always welcomed warmly on visits and offered refreshments. Thank you, Russell Green Care Home. You are amazing.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.120)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.120) out of 10 for Russell Green is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.745 for Russell Green is calculated as follows: ( (37 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 47 Ratings = 4.745

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.375 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Russell Green is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 18 registered maximum number of service users is 3.6, which has been reached with 4 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
