Dad was returned to Southernwood House after a short spell in hospital.
This was for palliative care as unfortunately nothing more could be done for him medically.
The staff welcomed him "home" and looked after him as if he were their own father.
Nothing was too much trouble for them.
Not only
did they look after Dad but also supported his family through this difficult time.

My mother was transferred from the hospital for respite.
She stayed here for 7 weeks.
During that time the care given by all the staff was excellent.
All the staff are very friendly, helpful and caring.
As a family, we were sceptical about care homes, but this has happily changed our opinions.

Placing mum into respite care whilst dad was poorly, it was quite traumatic, but all the management and staff welcomed mum and all of us, giving us great comfort and reassurance for her safety, wellbeing and general comfort.
The support offered to mum and our family has been first class, so much so
that we are hoping we can get mum into long-term care at this small and well-run establishment.
Mum (who has Dementia) has settled really well, this, we believe is down to a genuine caring attitude by all staff towards mums specific and personal needs. She is happy.

I am extremely pleased with every aspect of care which my mother receives at Southernwood House. All the staff are very kind, caring and friendly, whilst displaying the utmost professionalism at all times. My mother is now nearly 99 years old and has lived at the home for about 3 years. Her needs are
very well catered for in every way and she is always treated with kindness and respect for her dignity. The meals provided always look delicious and there is a varied menu for dinner and tea from which to choose every day. My mother is very well looked after and is happy and settled, which gives me much peace of mind. I am very grateful indeed to the manager and all the staff for everything they do. I would not hesitate to recommend Southernwood House to others.

On bringing my father-in- law to the care home in an emergency, due to my mother-in-law taken to hospital we arrived and were met by two friendly carers and this continued, on arrival we were asked to give details on our father-in-law and we left clothes for him (we were not told to write in them etc,
due to this being an emergency) as well as my husband and my mother spending all day at Pilgrim hospital from 11 am till late, toilet in room had damaged light switch, Carer tried to rectify and apologised for the maintenance people not coming out.
We left at 10.30pm and very happy.
Until my father was sent to another care home two days later, we found he had no sock on his feet and just shoes and clothes missing, the follow up on finding the clothes was disarray and one didn't know what the other was doing. My husband was very anxious. Outcome half have been sent back and due to not being named as not told and an emergency, we will not get reimbursed for the two remaining missing.

Wellbeing Care Group takes all complaints very seriously, therefore it is disappointing that you felt the need to rate the care for the 3 Days that your father was in our care as poor, and despite highlighting that the actual care provided by the dedicated care staff was good. The missing clothing that you have mentioned had all been dealt with and sent. It is therefore very unfortunate that you have decided to utilise a review to highlight an issue which we had thought had been dealt with. These reviews have an impact on our care and management team, who I believe on this occasion have been rated unfairly on the actual quality of care that had been delivered.
