Steven's journey in care began in 2017, when he started as a Care Assistant, gradually advancing to Senior Care Assistant, Team Leader, Residential Care Manager, and now Home Manager. His extensive experience and dedication make him the perfect fit for our community.
Outside of work, Steven is an animal lover with two dogs, Gizzy and Bella, who are 13 and 14 years old and have been with him since they were pups. He also has a bearded dragon named Godzilla, who has a fun and quirky personality.
In his free time, Steven enjoys listening to music, watching Netflix, and spending time with family and friends on various outings. He has two brothers, and one sister, and often makes the effort to visit his mum, who lives quite a distance away.
Steven is highly qualified, holding NVQ levels 2, 3, and 4, and is currently pursuing his NVQ level 5 in Leadership and Management. His goal for Sandpiper is to make it the home of choice in the community, the top choice for employment, and a place where relatives feel peace of mind and comfort.

I really enjoy my job and being with the residents. I had never worked in a care home before but now I wouldn't do anything else, it's so rewarding. Every day is a pleasure.

"I have been in catering since 1981, cooking is my passion. I enjoy preparing quality, home-cooked, meals for residents. It is important for me that the food we prepare is made from locally sourced produce and is something residents enjoy; residents are included in menu planning. Mealtimes are an important part of the day and an occasion where residents can socialise while enjoying good food."
Job Title: Maintenance
Steve Leverington, our new handyman has spent 15 years as a maintenance engineer within a group of private hospitals, hospices and care homes based in the South of England. Steve has a further 15 years as their hands-on maintenance manager. His work has covered all aspects of maintenance tasks from a lowly toilet to maintaining hospital theatres.
He decided to take retirement and move with his partner to Lincolnshire. His partner, Fiona fired him as his ability to make coffee and lunch on time was severely lacking.
He went to work for Butlins as maintenance for two years but found he was missing the care industry and decided to join us here at Sandpiper in Alford.
Steve enjoys fishing and gardening as well as socialising with friends and a good BBQ.
