A warm and friendly atmosphere welcomes you to Whitefriars, where professionally trained staff are on hand 24 hours a day, seven days a week to offer you the support you need, when you need it.

Residents can relax and enjoy a cup of tea with friends and family in one of the sitting rooms or join in one of the regular social activities.

There is a varied programme of activities, entertainment and events, arranged by Activities coordinators around each person's requests, hobbies and interests.

The kitchen team, headed by a professional cook, is proud to offer a varied menu of home-cooked meals to suit individual dietary requirements and preferences.

With a focus on flavour, seasonal produce is used whenever possible and the tasty dishes are carefully balanced to get best nutritional value. And of course families and friends are welcome to join them at meal times.

    Services NOT included in price are: dentistry, chiropody,
    physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
    medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
    During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
    and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
    services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
    will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
    services at the time you request them.
    They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
    however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
    services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
    be paid for by yourself.

Even though my father wouldn't leave his bedroom staff did try their hardest to persuade him but to no good, unfortunately. They did help me to get an outside window conversation with him, they were very helpful. Needed court of protection forms completed, they were very helpful again. All in all a
good visit, even though it was short, but that was not their fault.

In the current situation and pandemic, I cannot praise the staff at Whitefriars enough. The communication and updates on Dad have been regular when not being able to visit. Dad looks well; he always looks tidy and clean. Now we are able to visit, the set up of this is very organised, and everyone is
very welcoming.

Since coming to the home in late August, my father has become a different person in a very good way. The staff are amazing with him. He is so much happier and healthier than in a long time. He is treated with dignity and respect and enjoys the company. My father was giving up on life thinking no one
cared but now he laughs and jokes and has a cheeky glint in his eye, which I haven't seen since being a little girl. This home has reunited a father and daughter. Thank you.

My dad was in respite but also, end of life. During his final days, my sister and I were allowed to go and sit with my dad, wearing all the PPE, and the care staff were fantastic. They offered us a drink and let us stay for as long as we wanted. They were always checking on my dad and gave him the care
he required. Thank you to all of the carers and staff.

From the day in March 2018 when Mum was first admitted to this home, words do not justify the care standards, knowledge of dementia, the will do attitude and friendliness of the carers in both Primose and Jasmine lanes. Not only to the resident but the spouse and family to ensure this difficult and
upsetting change of lifestyle is as smooth a transition as possible.

My mother has lived in Whitefriars for over 2 years. As her only child, and living in France, I depend fully on the support and care of the staff. I can honestly say that without exception, I have found everyone at Whitefriars, from senior management, carers and admin staff, to be extremely professional
and caring. My mother is always well dressed and remains extremely happy - and, therefore, so am I. I count myself as very lucky to have found such a lovely home for her.

My darling husband was at Whitefriars, Stamford for over 2 years. Thankfully he settled in well and was happy and content. For me, it was not so easy. The realisation I could no longer manage to care for my husband at home, and his eventual move into a care home left me completely bereft. My husband's
care team was led by the outstanding senior carer, dementia lead and senior carer dementia support, and their dedication, integrity, leadership and clear thinking were exemplary. Along with his key carers, they showed him respect, care, kindness and patience, acknowledging him as an individual, recognising his character and significant contributions of past years.


Working long hours, often under very stressful and difficult circumstances, their kindness, support and understanding was also extended to me. My many wishes for my husband's care were always listened to and accommodated where possible. Over time all of this enabled me to form a good rapport with his care team. This close communication and my very regular visits, allowed me to add my own help and care for my husband and his room.


It is, with much appreciation and heartfelt gratitude, I thank you for all your care. Also, my sincere thank yous to the reception office, housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, chefs and kitchen staff.

My mother has been in Whitefriars for five years and I have always felt the staff do a tremendous job. My only comment against Whitefriars is that the food provided could be better. For the amount of money we spend, more variety would be good.
However, they do all they can to provide expert care with
limited resources.

My elderly mother has been a resident at Whitefriars Care Home for a month now and the staff have been lovely, making her welcome, helping her to find her way around and helping her to integrate with other residents and join in with daily activities.

My father has now been at Whitefriars for just over 4 years. In those years, I haven't had any complaints with the care he receives. He is always clean and tidy, as is his room.
The staff on the dementia unit are all lovely and treat my dad with respect and dignity like he is one of their family members.
They keep me up to date with how my dad is and when I visit, which is approximately every 4 weeks, he is always happy. I never have any concerns about his welfare. I would definitely recommend Whitefriars dementia unit to anyone.

I am extremely grateful to the Manager, Administrator, Head Carer and Carers for their professional care that they have given my mother who has Dementia with Lewy Bodies. The Care Home is warm and friendly, very clean and I know that my mother is 100% safe and is well cared for.

Shelly Smith

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2018

Shelly joined The Orders of St John Care Trust as Care Services Manager for Apple Trees in 2016 before being appointed Home Manager at Whitefriars in 2018.


Shelly has had a long career in care and spent several years working in Spain before returning to the UK to continue her career. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking and spending time with her family.


She says that her door is always open and invites families to pop in, say hello and share celebrations or concerns.
