My friend has been living at Ashfield House for a while now. There is always a lovely atmosphere in the home and the staff are very friendly. My friend is always saying what great care she receives. I would highly recommend Ashfield House.

My Mum has been a resident at Ashfield House for 4 years and we have always seen how good the care is at the home. We feel like the staff are part of our family now. It was my Mum's 90th birthday on 18th January, she was treated like a princess. The home organised a party with a singer, food, drink
and a beautiful cake. The family and all the residents were welcomed to the party and the whole day was perfect. Staff who were not on duty came in to celebrate. My Mum might not remember the day due to dementia but we will certainly cherish it as a family. We cannot thank or praise the staff at Ashfield House enough for all their care and kindness over the years.

Placing my mum into a care home was an extremely difficult decision. Ashfield House staff and management helped the transition for myself and my family and our acceptance of the situation. Mum has been treated with kindness and care, staff and management have been accessible and supportive throughout
her stay. The facilities enabled us as a family to trust staff to be able to look after mum and we have always been welcomed as visitors whenever visited or needed to talk.
We would recommend Ashfield House in Raunds on the basis of our experience with our mum.

The care my mother received while in the home for 2 years was second to none. She was well cared for by all the staff. She was kept well dressed and clean with her hair and nails always looking well kept. From the cleaners right up to the management, all were excellent.

I cannot praise the staff so much they were brilliant with my mother and on the day she died, they made sure she was not on her own until I got there, which I think was above and beyond.


Never had any problems and was always phoned if there was needed to have any changes or questions and nothing

was done until they spoke to me.

All the staff are very hard working and treat all the residents with courtesy and dignity despite any minor problems that may occur on a day to day basis. On 22nd April, my wife and I had the pleasure of celebrating our diamond wedding anniversary and the staff all contributed to a fantastic basket
of flowers. In addition, the care home laid on a small party for our family and friends with a splendid array of food and a few drinks. Although I offered to contribute to the costs involved, I was not allowed to. My wife and I were very grateful and a most enjoyable time was had by all. All the staff excelled themselves.

My mother has been living at Ashfield House for a year now. During this time she has been looked after and well cared for by all members of staff from the care team to the cleaners, laundry team, handyman, hairdresser, secretary and the cooks. She is known by name and from the things that the staff
do and say, they know my mother well. My mother, in common with other residents, is always well turned out and colour coordinated. Treated as an individual, she likes to have her perfume and eyebrows 'on' with a bit of lippy applied which staff do for her and this makes her feel content. We can visit mum at any time and are welcomed by the staff. My mother refers to Ashfield House as her home when we are out and about. She tells me she is happy and feels safe. The environment is bright, clean and well decorated. As a family, we feel secure in the knowledge that our mum is cared for, never alone and her needs are being met. We have not regretted our choice of residential care for mum.

Job Title: Service Manager

I am the current manager for Ashfield House. I have been working for Shaw healthcare for almost ten years. Within those ten years I have spent the majority of my time at another of Shaw’s homes.


Ashfield House is a fantastic home. Since my time here, it is evident that all of the staff, no matter what their job role – have a positive and person-centred approach to all of our service users! All of the staff, including myself, thrive to keep that smile on our service users faces and for them to enjoy the time they spend here. Ashfield House has a warm and friendly vibe and I am proud to be their current manager. We like to encourage our service users (if they can), to remain as independent as possible and treat Ashfield as their home.


The staff take pride in getting to know our service users and their life histories, to enable them to build up that close, trustworthy relationship. Getting to know and supporting our service users is very important to us however, our aim is to support the relatives too! We are very keen to build up a positive repour with our relatives and friends! We are always here to answer any questions or queries you may have and offer reassurance where needed!

I have been working at Ashfield House for a total of 13 years. My role as a Team Leader is to uphold the Shaw Healthcare’s values, which are wellness, happiness and kindness. I enjoy the responsibility of my role and take pride in ensuring the person-centred care needs are met for each resident.


My motivation to achieve is, to see happy and well cared for service users, dedicated and enthusiastic staff. Ashfield House has a very warm and friendly environment. We strive to encourage the independence of our service users and make them feel at home. In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family.

Job Title: Domestic/Laundry Assistant

My name is Fiona and I have worked at Ashfield House for almost 7 years. I have 2 main roles and they are as a Laundry Assistant and as a Domestic Assistant. I am happy to help out anywhere in the home if needed. At present, I am helping the Support Workers prepare and serve breakfast to all of our residents, either in the dining room or the resident’s room. I enjoy working in the laundry and do my best to make sure all the resident’s clothes are washed and ironed to a high standard. I take pride in ensuring the clothes and linen are being folded correctly and that the linen cupboards are clean and tidy. My other role is as a domestic, again, it’s a job I get great satisfaction from. I enjoy being part of a team whose only wish is to have a spotlessly clean and tidy home for everyone who lives or works here to enjoy. It’s not all hard work though. It’s also my chance to get to know the residents and to have a chat and a laugh with them whilst cleaning their rooms. The residents are always appreciative of anything we do for them and they always thank us. I enjoy working here because of the good friends I have made and how we can all pull together when needed and work as a team.

I have worked at Victoria House for nearly 11 years, it was my first ever job all those years ago.
I enjoy getting to know the residents' life histories in depth, this also helps me adapt the care I give to be person centred.
Ashfield House is a positive friendly place to work and I’ve always felt supported by my colleagues and Management.
In my spare time, I am a Mum to 3 young children, my eldest children have visited Ashfield House since they were 2 weeks old up until Covid.
The residents love when they see them and would always be smiling.

I have worked at Ashfield House for 7 years. Within those 7 years I have worked my way up to Senior and have progressed to covering nights as Team leader


I love coming to work to see and care for the residents, I enjoy listening to them reminisce on their past and help them to remember things. Hearing their stories helps me get to know the residents better and be able to adapt my caring role to suit their needs. We have lots of activities for the residents and when we have entertainers on we all enjoy getting those that are able, up singing and dancing.


Ashfield is a very caring home, the team are very honest and trustworthy with the residents being our number one priority, just like one big happy family.

I have worked at Ashfield House for 18 months, this was my first caring role, at first it was a little daunting as you don’t really know what to expect but I have really enjoyed my learning process.


Getting to know the residents and what their needs are helps when doing my caring role. I love seeing the residents happy and smiling which makes my day worthwhile.


I would like to in time progress to a higher level of care within Ashfield as it is a very happy home to work in and the staff team are brilliant.

I began working for Ashfield House in 2013 as an Activity worker. We have entertainers come into the home on a weekly basis as well as chair keep fit sessions. The residents really enjoy listening to the singing and it is wonderful to see them singing along and those that are able get up dancing with other residents and staff.


We have a reading section and a place to do jigsaws which the residents all enjoy doing. I love my job and it is a pleasure to come to work, seeing the residents happy, it is their home and we try to maintain as much independence as is possible for each individual.


The staff are very caring and we all work very much as a Team to maintain the wellness and happiness of our residents.

I started work at Ashfield House in 2004, as a Support Worker and also cover Senior Support roles.


I really enjoy my job and have seen a lot of changes of how people deal with Dementia and the understanding of this condition. I help mentor other members of staff joining our team, sometimes this is an eye opener as they do not realise the amount of hard work that is involved within the Support role.


The team at Ashfield are very knowledgeable and have the upmost respect and time for all our residents. We all ensure that residents are cared for keeping their own dignity and as much as possible their independence.
