My mother has been a resident of Freestones for over 3 years now and during this time I have never had any doubts about the high quality of care provided in a comfortable, professional yet home from home environment. I can recommend the home to anyone.

This is a very caring and competent residential home. The manager and her team are extremely helpful, informative and thorough in all that they do.

My mum was resident for over 3 years. It was not an easy time and we saw a previously strong, intelligent and capable woman decline with dementia. Nevertheless, my mother’s last years were much happier and fulfilled than they might otherwise have been. We are grateful to the staff for their efforts.
She was a “character”, who was difficult as well as being witty and humorous. Staff coped admirably and skilfully and we appreciated that mum was, for them all, a human being for whom they had an excellent relationship. The professionalism of care ensured that her suffering was minimalised. They combined this with the warmth of a family. The home was always welcoming to visitors. This helped us cope with a very difficult situation. We were always kept well informed as to the health and well-being of my mother whilst visiting or by phone when necessary. It was clear that the staff knew her. As a family we recommend Freestones unreservedly.

One of the main things that stand out is the friendly nature of the home, you are always met with a smile and the offer of a cup of tea.
You can visit the residents own room or stay in the communal lounge, either way, young children are encouraged to be themselves, it really does feel very homely.
It
feels wrong to call them 'staff' because that gives the wrong impression, whilst always very friendly the ladies are happy to help in any way and always very respectful, preserving dignity and independence is obviously very important at freestones.
In the 6months that our grandad was living at Freestones Residential Care Home, he and our extended family were very happy with his health and well-being, although it has to be said he didn't like the jacket potatoes! On this, you should use your own discretion, but regarding the caring, friendly atmosphere and the genuine nature of the people who will look after your loved one please take my word that you'll be very happy to leave your relative at Freestones.

This is a family run home where the management and staff provide a warm environment for the residents to feel safe and secure and their individual needs are considered at all times. I would highly recommend Freestones to anyone who is thinking of moving into residential care either themselves or for
a family member.

My Mother transferred to Freestones from the hospital. She was very poorly but the care provided for her was first class. Specialist equipment was obtained immediately and the staff provided round the clock care. Nothing was too much trouble and medical care was obtained as soon as needed as well
as regular visits by the nurse. I highly recommend the care provided by the Manager and all the staff. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, Mum was too ill to take part in the day-to-day activities provided and passed away after a short period. However, we are grateful she was able to be at Freestones and we truly feel that Mum had the best possible care there.

Our friend has settled in well at Freestones and is very happy with his room. He enjoys eating his meals with other gentlemen and has no complaints about the food he is given.
The staff are friendly and very helpful to him and to us, his visitors. He is very impressed with the quick turnaround for
his laundry and recent infections have been dealt with promptly by bringing in a Nurse as soon as possible.
Our friend's room sometimes seems dusty but we believe that is because he tells the staff not to bother as he has already done it. Unfortunately, his eyesight is very poor and he doesn't see where cleaning is needed.

My Mum Joan joined Freestones in August 2016, transferring from another local care home. She came to the home very poorly indeed, so much so that she had to have a two-week stay in hospital; in truth, it was touch and go whether Mum would 'fade away'. On hearing the hospital had done their best to make
Mum better, the manager and the staff had no hesitation in receiving Mum 'home', very quickly organising the necessary specialist equipment for her return. Since she has been home, the care the staff has demonstrated has been first class, with Mum being looked after as part of the Freestone 'family'. I could not have asked for more and would like to go on record to personally thank the manager and her staff for the time, attention and affection shown towards Mum.

Freestones Residential Care Home has been caring for my mother for over ten years now and their quality of care is second to none. Over the last ten years her needs have changed considerably (due to advancement of Alzheimers) and they have supported her throughout and kept us informed at every stage.
We are welcome to visit at any time and all the staff are friendly and informative. At no time have we ever had any concerns and have been very thankful over the years that this was the home we chose. Whilst there are a number of activities for the residents, my mother can no longer participate, however she was always encouraged during the early years.
I would totally recommend Freestones as a Care Home that provides that personal touch, which is more like a family environment than a care home.

Freestones are a professional organisation who provide the highest quality of care for their residents. The Home is warm, cosy, clean and tidy and the food (cooked on site) is top quality. The staff are fantastic and are always immediately available to attend to residents' needs as and when they arise.
Visitors are warmly welcomed to the Home at any time and can stay for as long as they wish. The staff at Freestones will constantly inform the family or friends of the residents with regards to any change in circumstances ie an illness, Drs visit, change in medication etc. Freestones is a very highly thought of Care home, has a first class reputation with rooms that are considered 'sought after'.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.517)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.517) out of 10 for Freestones Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.817 for Freestones Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (68 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 82 Ratings = 4.817

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Freestones Residential Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 20 registered maximum number of service users is 4, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
