Rathgar is a warm and welcoming home for the elderly, situated three miles from the centre of Northampton. Their philosophy of care is to provide residents with a secure, relaxed and homely environment in which their care, well-being and comfort are of prime importance.

Jane Borland is an award-winning manager who runs Rathgar. Jane has a forward-thinking and innovative philosophy with the residents' best interests at the forefront of the care that is provided. This philosophy resonates to the whole team to provide the best possible care.

My mother has late-stage Alzheimer's disease. She went into Rathgar initially for 2 weeks of respite care which was faultless. From the owner to the manager and all carers/staff, they were all kind and caring and made sure that Mum was comfortable and looked after. She took a little while to settle,
which is to be expected, but I felt comfortable in calling for updates and visiting her regularly/taking her out too. They managed to communicate with her well, even though her speech is poor. She came home for a very short while but has since gone back into full-time residential care with them. She literally banged on the front door to get back in! Our family is relaxed knowing how well she is cared for and nurtured - she takes part in regular therapies with lots of different activities/things going on daily. Wonderful food and warm, comfortable surroundings. A really nice homely feel to the place. I highly recommend this lovely care home to anyone. Thank you all.

My mother has dementia and she has been in the care home at Rathgar since late October 2022. My mother is receiving wonderful care. The carers and management are truly, very caring. I could not wish for a better care home. Since she moved into Rathgar, she has stabilised, seems very happy and has met
new friends there. It really is a very loving environment and a home from home. The staff and management are always happy; you can tell they are not just coming in to work, but truly have the motivation to make each and every resident as happy as possible. They treat each and every resident with respect. The food is excellent and the care second to none. My mother and the other residents always look lovely; nicely dressed, fresh and clean. It really is a pleasure to visit. The staff are always very welcoming and happy. I really could not recommend them enough and I am very grateful for the wonderful care my mother receives and the knowledge that she is in very safe hands.

My mother has been a resident at Rathgar Care Home for eighteen months and is very happy there. The staff are very caring and patient, the meals are very good and there are lots of activities organised for the residents. I am always made to feel welcome by the staff when I visit. Rathgar has a lovely,
homely feel about it.

This little care home is just the place. My mum is in Rathgar and the staff are fantastic; they are very caring. My mum is not the best to look after, but the care team have given her all the support she has needed to settle in.

My relative has been in Rathgar for several years. All the staff (be it the owner, cleaners or nurses) know residents by name. They take time to listen and are extremely attentive to the residents' individual needs and characters. Staff also interact with visitors and are friendly, yet professional,
at all times. Having a relative in care is always a stressful and worrying time. I can honestly say that my relative would not get the same level of care if he was at home. Previously prone to falls and infections, since being in Rathgar they have been able to minimise these by their outstanding care and attention. Not only are his health needs met, but regular activities and outings have ensured he has maintained an interest in life. My whole family feel included and welcome in his care. Any concerns we have had have been addressed within 24 hours and have been followed up with written and verbal evidence of actions taken. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Rathgar Care Home.

Mum has been at Rothgar Care Home for one year and after a couple of weeks of settling in when she was not happy due to Covid19. She is now very happy and has only good statements to say about the home. She is always clean well fed and safe which I can only hope for if mum is happy then I am happy.

Whenever I visit the home it is always clean and tidy. The residents all look to be dressed well. I really wouldn't want my mum to be anywhere else. My brother and I are happy that she is at Rathgar. We know she is safe and happy and she tells us she is very happy. The staff are all very professional
and patient. In the 3.5 years my mum has lived at Rathgar she has always received excellent care and all the residents are treated with respect. Thank you Rathgar!

The home is clean and tidy. The staff are cheerful, helpful and really care about the residents. The slightest problem they let me know immediately. They have an extremely good understanding of his dementia and how to handle him. The activities they do stimulate him and he has been very happy in the

18 months ago mum was placed at Rathgar, the initial impression, run down and tired, but had just been bought by new owners. Then the new lift, windows, kitchen etc but it is the staff that matter. They are all great, nothing is too much trouble and have time for residents and visitors. Towards the
end, they could not have done more or been kinder. If you require a care home for your relative with dementia or other needs they would be well cared for in the Rathgar family.

My wife has now been in care there for just over 12months and she still mentions home sometimes, but I think she is now settling down. She has had a few stays in hospital and has now lost the ability to walk which is a shame because we can no longer get her in the car.

Both my parents are in Rathgar Care Home and I am so relieved that they are being so well looked after by such kind staff. My friend who has been a resident in Rathgar since November 2018 is very well looked after. She is always kind and helpful and always liaise regarding any medical issues. The home is always clean and smells nice, staff are welcoming to visitors at any time. The communal area is quite small but this
means that there are always staff nearby. My friend is very happy and is well settled.

We are very satisfied with the continuity of good service provided by Rathgar. The staff always have a kind and caring attitude to all the residents and take trouble not just making sure they are fed and clean, but trying to always make people content. The social activities are really good, singers
and dancers entertain, ladies have their nails manicured and hairdressers visit.


We believe our relative receives the best quality of life at Rathgar that she could have anywhere and we wouldn’t hesitate giving the home the best review.
