Richmond Villages Northampton is an award-winning retirement village situated in Grange Park in Northampton, less than five minutes from the M1 motorway and less than an hour from both London and Birmingham.

At the heart of the retirement village is the care home which provides first-class nursing, dementia, respite and convalescent care in 30 en-suite bedrooms.

The retirement village features excellent on-site facilities that include a coffee shop, restaurant, a number of elegant sitting rooms, hair salon, beauty treatment room, library, free Wi-Fi, an activities and craft studio, plus award-winning landscaped gardens and a sensory garden.

All rooms are decorated by a team of specialist interior designers and feature electric profiling beds, a range of furniture, TV, telephone, en-suite shower room and Wi-Fi access.

The village is run by a village manager and a dedicated team of employees who are trained to deliver only the best possible care to the village residents.

Unlike traditional care homes, Richmond Villages Northampton uses its carers and nurses solely for the purpose of caring and supporting its residents whilst fully trained hospitality and housekeeping staff look after meal preparation and cleaning.

To further enhance the well-being and enjoyment of residents, the village also has a dedicated activities team. The team provides a daily activities program that includes day trips where transport is provided by Richmond Villages Northampton's own fleet of vehicles and dedicated drivers.

My wife was discharged from hospital after 3 weeks of treatment. I arranged for her to have 1 week of respite care at Richmond Village Northampton. She received excellent care which made the transition back to home an easy one.

Caring and compassionate with respect for all. My father is getting involved every day in an observational way. But there are signs of greater understanding.

All staff have got to know my father within 3 months and I am extremely impressed with the level of care.

My aunt has been in the home almost three years.
She has always had the greatest care taken of her and all the staff have treated her with the greatest kindness.
She has been very happy and has joined in the activities.
They even started a poetry group for her as they know how fond she is of poetry.
This
has become a firm favourite with many more residents joining in.

My Mum had been to two nursing homes prior to Richmond Village. The difference is hard to describe. For the first time, we are so happy with Mum's care. All the staff are so friendly and caring, not jus tot Mum but to all our family. The accommodation is a different class. I describe to like a 5 star
hotel. The food is out of this world, plenty of activities going on. It was the best decision we could have made. I would highly recommend.

This is the sixth residence my mother has had in 13 months. When she arrived she was confused and grieving, eventually appearing to require end of life care. The home informed me and continued to offer me and my mother excellent support and care. Staff have enabled my mother's diabetes to be appropriately
managed so that her blood sugar is largely stable. My mother is bed-bound but recently she has been moved in a wheelchair to other parts of the house so that she can meet other people. She is always treated with good humour, dignity and respect. She periodically responds openly and is much more settled and becoming more herself despite significant challenges. I would not hesitate to recommend Richmond Northampton for care needs.

Care staff assisting my Mother are caring & professional. The Domiciliary team has strong leadership which is vital, coordinating the service, liaising with medical professionals and dealing with any concerns promptly.
The emergency call system is maintained well and someone is always just a few minutes
away if a resident in difficulty.
I am confident that my Mother is known to the team and it will be a two-way street moving forward as she requires more assistance.

Over the last ten months, my mum has received the best possible care and attention you could ever hope for. All members of staff do all they can to make mum feel safe and secure. This to our family is crucial particularly as mum is coming to the end of her life. Everyone who is connected to Richmond
Northampton are sensitive to this issue that has a big impact on our family. They care and they listen to any suggestions as to how mum is feeling and our worries are immediately acted on - so professional.

Like anyone facing the difficult decision of how to best support a family member in their twilight years, my family and I approached the team at Richmond with a mixture of fear and trepidation. We needn't have worried. The exceptional level of professionalism of the team is only surpassed by their wonderful
warmth, care and (dare I say it) love they show towards my mother. The values that are instilled in the team by the management are in fact instinctive in every member whether it is the catering folks, the care assistants or indeed the nursing staff. My mother's medical needs are complex but everything is taken in their stride. As I joke with the team "they are not here for the money"! Their calling is truly a vocational one and I am humbled by their kindness and dedication to provide the best care possible. If my life journey includes a stay in a care home I have already picked out my room.....

My mother entered Richmond Northampton for End of Life Care, where she was a resident for about 7 weeks. The kindness of staff, where nothing was too much trouble to serve my mum and our extended visiting family, was truly outstanding. Careful pain management and medical professionalism, aligned with
the love for a dying lady and her family, could not be better. The little touches, on the day we were called to expect my mum to pass away, a plate of sandwiches arrived for the family. The visits of staff outside their shifts went well beyond the call of duty.

At this precious moment in our lives, we are deeply grateful to those at Richmond. Their care, love and service is an example that, if followed, could revolutionise healthcare across our nation.

Richmond Northampton is a place where you have total confidence that your elderly loved ones (parents) will be safe, looked after well and be happy.

When I hear of reports on the news about terrible care homes, I am grateful that we found Richmond. Richmond's biggest asset is it's staff who are

kind and helpful. The domicillary care department is exceptional as we found out recently when our Mother started to need help.

A caring atmosphere.
There is much to entertain residents, so that the grey matter is kept going.
Staff are polite and helpful, many often go out of their way to help.
Food is excellent, though if I had it all the time it could become a little repetitive, not sure there is an answer to that though.

In the 3 months mum was in the home we experienced amazing care from all the staff. From the moment you were greeted at the reception it was exempt. Mum was treated with respect and dignity and we were welcomed any time of the day and able to make tea/coffee etc. whenever we needed. Mum unfortunately
passed away on the 5th of October at the home but the end of life care was so brilliant. We could not have asked for more (she didn't have to go into hospital). The trained palliative care nurses are an absolute credit to the home. We cannot thank them enough.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.735)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.735) out of 10 for Richmond Villages Northampton is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.935 for Richmond Villages Northampton is calculated as follows: ( (87 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 93 Ratings = 4.935

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Richmond Villages Northampton is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 31 registered maximum number of service users is 6.2, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
