Job Title: Service Administrator
Joined: 2018
I joined Shaw Healthcare as a service administrator based at Thorndale Residential Home in February 2018. Every day is different, I thoroughly enjoy my job role and work alongside many lovely colleagues who I believe bring out the best in me and it’s an absolute delight to come to work.
My role as service administrator has many different aspects such as customer service, finance, data monitoring, entering timesheets, recruitment, other HR related tasks and most importantly supporting our service manager and the service wherever possible.
On a daily basis, I have to liaise and interact with healthcare professionals either face to face or via the telephone and again I have built a professional rapport with them. I always ensure I provide a consistent and efficient approach to ensure the requests are dealt with.
A big part of job role is liaising with the service users’ families and ensuring all their requests are dealt with accordingly. I have built up many professional relationships with the families and its very heart warming to hear them say ‘thank you’ and show their appreciation. I enjoy interacting with service users, they always make me smile.
I have been involved with organising our Summer fetes and Christmas fayres and thoroughly enjoyed being part of this. It was heart-warming to see our service users having a lovely time with their families.
We are like a big family and its pleasure to be part of a lovely and caring home who will always look out for each other by ensuring we are safe and happy. I am proud to say that I work for Shaw healthcare – thank you!
Job Title: Team Leader
I’ve worked for Shaw Healthcare since 2013, I started off at Beech Close as a Support Worker & I am now a Team Leader @ Thorndale.
I’ve worked in many different jobs Hospitality, Retail, Jack of all trades some may say.
I trained to be a Beauty Therapist, once qualified it was great, however, I soon realised I wasn’t satisfied just doing eyebrows and I knew I had so much more to give.
I've always been very passionate in whatever I do and I need satisfaction, I've finally found it at Thorndale.
I love coming to work, I feel fully supported by my colleagues, most of all, I love seeing a smile on a resident's face and the fact that I've made them feel good about themselves.
I look forward to my future at Thorndale & with Shaw.
Job Title: Support Worker
I was hairdresser and after 35 years I really wanted a change, something to make me feel like I made a difference to someone’s life.
I have only been at Thorndale for 1 month and I absolutely love it, I’ve learnt so much in such a short amount of time.
Staff are so friendly and helpful I feel like I fit in and I’m part of the Team.
Job Title: Senior Cook
I Started working with Shaw Sept 1995 as a Career, then activity co-ordinate and I’m now the Cook. I absolutely love my job. You cannot beat a home cooked meal and cake and you certainly get that in our kitchen, everything is made from scratch. I love my job I feel supported by not just the kitchen staff, the care staff and the Management.
Job Title: Kitchen Assistant
I have worked at Thorndale for 7 years I started as a Domestic Assistant I then joined the kitchen.
A job I love, as long as don’t have to make homemade cakes ??
Staff are friendly and lovely everyday is different but in a good way.
My Mum lives at Thorndale, and I wouldn’t have her anywhere else.
