Since Mum moved into Victoria House, we have seen a real improvement in her mental and physical wellbeing.
She really enjoys spending time with the other residents and taking part in the activities on offer.
We are so pleased that Mum is receiving such excellent care.

My Mum has lived at Victoria House since July 2024 and it was her first Christmas there. All the staff are amazing and involved her in the festivities, putting on a lovely Christmas dinner on the day.
Since my Mum moved to Victoria House the staff always make her and us as a family feel very included.

My wife and I have been in the home since 23.02.2024. We have found everything satisfactory. Cares are always very helpful, and food is always a good choice and always satisfactory. Medication is always on time. Laundry is always on time. Visitors are always made welcome. Activities are always plenty
on. A very good hairdresser. Management is always ready to listen.

Mum has lived at Victoria House since March of this year. We have noticed a marked improvement in her mobility and it is great that she is able to socialise with her new friends.
The staff at Victoria House are caring, kind and professional whilst maintaining a sense of humour - this is certainly appreciated
by my mum and her friends.
As a family, we are always welcomed by staff and residents and it was lovely to be able to celebrate Mum's birthday with everyone recently.
It is brilliant to know that Mum is safe and well cared for every day (and night).

I've been here 7 months and the staff are very friendly and caring. If they can help they will. The staff work very hard on different units, they organise different activities every week. Staff very good. Can't do enough for you. Overall the home is very clean, the staff in the kitchen work hard. The

When looking for a home for Mum and Dad, Victoria House stood out for me. As soon as I walked in I felt at complete ease. The staff allowed Mum's visits to look at the rooms and building before deciding as well as multiple, continuous questions. It is home from home for my parents. They have settled
in so quickly and I know they are receiving 24-hour, quality care which gives me total peace of mind. They always comment on the good food, the friendly, caring staff and I can see how well they both look. All the staff are amazing and this is their job but you can see how much they care.

My mother had to go to hospital for a check on her health. The team were very attentive to her condition and kept me informed.
On her return, they made her comfortable and with their care she has bounced back to her happy self. This care home is the best anyone could wish for.

The carers of Victoria House never let us down. My nan was ill for a third time in a few months and they always treat her with dignity and respect. The medical services were called but nan was never left alone. When she returned from A&E late in the evening they made sure she was comfortable and cosy
for a good night's sleep. The staff are always keeping us updated and informed of how nan is. I cannot fault the care they give. As a family we are always welcomed and the fact you can visit at any time says a lot to me. We cannot thank you all enough.

My aunt has now been at Victoria House Care Home for one year. She was very reluctant to go to a home and it did take her a while to settle down. During this time the staff were extremely patient and kind to her. She has now settled down and is happy to be there. From the beginning, she has been very
happy with the food service and has eaten well. Staff respond quickly and efficiently to requests for information and I have been made welcome whenever I have visited my aunt or put through on the phone to talk to her.

I am so pleased with the care that my sister is receiving at Victoria House. Since she was admitted in December 2022, the staff have been helpful, friendly and reassuring. They have treated her with consideration and dignity in order to meet her needs and helped her make the adjustment from living in
her own home to being cared for with all the amenities that Victoria House has to offer plus a carefully considered care plan.
Her room is spacious, homely and comfortable and I have always felt welcome when visiting. Thank you to all the staff involved.

My mum was transferred to Victoria House in early January 2023, having been assessed as needing long-term residential care. She has vascular and Alzheimer's dementia and has become quite frail. She has always been adamant that she wasn't going to go into care so I was concerned that the transfer might
be traumatic and confusing for her. I have been so pleased with the welcome and the care that she is now receiving at Victoria House. The management has been friendly and approachable throughout and very reassuring. Her room is ample size and light and airy and she has easy access to the communal areas which she likes to spend time in - she is now far less isolated than when at home. the whole atmosphere of the home is friendly and caring but professional. I am relieved and very pleased that we have found an excellent home for mum.

I would like to thank all the carers at Victoria House Care Home for looking after Mum for the past six years and particularly in her last few weeks of life. She thought of you as part of her extended family. Her quality of life had deteriorated quite badly in her last few weeks but you all went the

Mum was with Victoria House for three years but unfortunately due to failing health, we had to move her to a nursing home.
We cannot begin to thank the staff at Victoria House for the love and respect they showed for Mum throughout her stay. Even on her stubborn days they still treated her with humility
and accepted she was having a bad day.
Mum was always clean and tidy and it was obvious that she loved the staff too and would be blowing them kisses which they returned with love.
Thank you to all for making Mum's stay the best it could be. We really didn't want her to leave.

My mum came into this home 18 months ago, she was treated with respect, dignity and like a human being. She did not want to go in a care home, but within a few days, she settled. All through Covid, the staff were brilliant. They keep all strict rules, so all residents are safe and also visitors. My
mum was looked after by the best care team I have had the privilege of knowing. My mum recently passed away, but because of their professionalism, she was able to be pain-free and all the family were able to say goodbye to her. This I will always be grateful to them for. I would not hesitate putting anyone in this care home if they needed somewhere. Many thanks to all the team at Victoria House, Rushden.

My dear mum went to Victoria House in August 2015 after a lot of persuasion to leave her own home, after evidently not being able to cope with everyday life. She soon fitted in and loved the company and chat with the staff and other residents in the home, making many friends. We loved the fact that
we could visit any time and for however long we wanted. It really was home from home. She was very happy at Victoria House until the end of her days and we will be eternally grateful for everything the wonderful staff did for her.

My Mother is in Victoria House and the staff are great with her - Mum is quite a character and can sometimes be a little demanding! She doesn't hear very well or see very well and the staff go out of their way to make life easier for her. My Father-in-law is also in Vitoria House, he has dementia and
isn't at his best - but again - the staff are good with him. Thanks to the Team for all your hard work.

I am currently a Team Leader at Victoria House. I started as a Domestic in 1992 and have worked here through many job roles over my 30-year service.


Victoria House has a special place in my heart, its my second home and my extended family.


The service users are happy and content, and family members often comment how happy their loved ones are.


We excel at providing person-centred care, promoting independence and excellent palliative care. I have known many staff to go above and beyond to ensure someone’s last days are comfortable and in compliance with their wishes.


Shaw healthcare have supported me throughout my progression, and provided many training opportunities. To enhance my skills and knowledge. I love my job and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

I was made redundant in the job that I loved in March. I knew I had to go to work but I was really unsure on what I wanted to do.
Id worked in care previously but, wasn’t a 100% sure if it was exactly what I wanted to do.
I saw on Facebook that Victoria House was doing some fundraising for a local man and I could join in in by zoom.
When I did I was blown away by the atmosphere in the home, it felt as though I was their joining in and I thought “I want to be part of that”.


I applied for a job straight away and I joined last week. I haven’t been disappointed, everyone’s so friendly and they are literally like an extended family to each other here. I was very apprehensive being the “new girl” but everyone’s made me feel very welcome I look forward to my future at Victoria House.

I started working at Victoria House alongside school when I was 16 as a Bank Domestic Assistant, and since leaving school I am now have permanent hours as a Catering Assistant.
As a first job, I have felt extremely supported by everyone here and really enjoy doing both roles.
Victoria House has such a homely atmosphere and welcomes everyone in, it truly is like a second family here.

I have worked at Victoria House for 27 years, I started out as a Domestic Assistant and went on to do Care. I have also worked in the kitchen as a Kitchen Assistant and a Cook.
I have enjoyed all my roles working here over the years and have worked with and still do, some lovely, genuine, hard working people. When you walk through the front of Victoria House, you will notice what a friendly, welcoming and homely place it is, this is down to the caring staff that work here making Victoria House a lovely place to work and live.
This reflects in the residents as they are happy and always saying what a homely environment Victoria House is.
They have a variety of daily activities, bingo, quizzes, themed food evenings etc.
The hairdressers visits also once a week to do their hair if they wish to have it done.
The last 18 months since Covid has been about has been very tough but, with all the staff pulling together, we have tried to maintain as much normality as possible for our residents.

After 4 years, I moved to the day shift where I have worked on many roles.
I currently work as a Team Leader and support the staff working as a Senior and a Support Worker on the floor. I love both roles, Victoria House has a very homely atmosphere and we pride ourselves on the excellent care we give our service users.

I take my job in the Laundry very seriously and wash their clothes and return them like I would my own. I love a Label.

I joined Victoria House as a Bank Support worker 18 months ago, for a little part time job whilst I was studying for University.
I loved it that much that as soon as I was offered permanent hours I jumped at the chance.
I feel like there a family of friends here, and they’ve always supported me.
I’m going back on the bank soon as I’m going University in September, however I'll be in at weeks as I wouldn’t want to leave completely.

3 years later and I now have permanent hours on both days and nights.
I like the variety from both the job roles, and the hours suit me great working around my Family.

I worked for the Council for 25 years & then Shaw took over in 2004, so I’ve actually worked at Victoria House for 41 years and I wouldn’t be anywhere else.

I have been employed in the care sector since 1993 , firstly with the NNCC, private sector then with Shaw Healthcare from 2010, starting at Sandalwood Court as a Deputy Manager and then progressing to Service Manager in 2011, as my colleague will all agree, Victoria House is a home from home. The Team work at Victoria House is exceptional and I am very proud to be the Manager at Victoria House. No two days are the same, during this pandemic we have become, experts in fields we knew nothing about but we have achieved the very best of care our resident’s deserve, we have kept them safe and this is all down to the dedication of the staff within Victoria House and of course the support the residents have given to us, keep going as we are all in the same boat and we have all rowed together.
