Fantastic home with fantastic staff. One could not speak highly enough. When a room is available I wish to be first in line. Residents are cheerful and so are the staff. There is a very good atmosphere when you enter the building.

A beautiful care home where all the staff care deeply for all residents. The staff organise daily activities for the residents, they are never forced to join in if they do not wish to. During “down time” residents play games together which is lovely to see.

At first, I was very apprehensive of the thought about moving to a care home for a few weeks after my recent hip operation. However, I was pleasantly surprised by Victoria House and the staff. All staff were very helpful and friendly, I was offered activities although I declined due to me isolating
I thought it was lovely I wasn't forgotten about.
The food is excellent and I have to say I've eaten more than I ever would at home.
It has been lovely to have my meals presented to me rather than me cooking for myself.
On a whole I don't have any concerns with Victoria House, I've really enjoyed my stay and am looking forward to having my hair done on Wednesday.

Whilst my Nan was at Victoria House, she was treated with the utmost dignity and was cared for by all the lovely staff who couldn’t do enough for her. Her room was fully equipped with everything she needed, and when I was visiting, it was really friendly and welcoming.

Victoria House is a lovely home where all the residents are well cared for and treated so lovely it really is lovely to see! The staff are friendly and welcoming always have time to talk and answer your questions. The resident are always happy and have lovely things to say about the home! My grandma
was in the dementia unit and was looked after so well I would highly recommend this home to anyone, it really is home from home.

My nan only lived at Victoria House for a short time but it soon became her home, a place as a family we knew she felt safe, secure and looked after but most importantly treated with dignity. Their end of life care is second to none, they go above and beyond and there really isn’t enough praise me,
myself and family can give them all I would highly recommend Victoria House to anyone.

From day 1 the home/staff has been a very positive experience. The level of care shown to my friend has been outstanding. My friend has been made welcome and cared for in every way possible, particularly throughout the pandemic and the staff have been brilliant. They have kept the residents safe and
also reassured them when it was needed so they have all been kept as safe and happy as possible. From the manager right through to the cleaner they are like a family of caring people. I'd like to say well done to them all.

We could never imagine a care home would be so wonderful for my dad the staff treat him so as if he was one of their own family members.
He always looks clean and tidy and peaceful in his surroundings. Also, he is never on his own which is lovely.
I would recommend this care home to anyone.

After three years of bad experiences in an 18 month period, we had almost lost faith in the care home system for dad, however, since moving into Victora House we can honestly say dad is happy, well-fed and looked after. The staff are friendly and enjoy a bit of banter with him which he enjoys after
a lifetime of being a practical joker. He keeps them on their toes with his quick wit. The only niggle we have is he constantly has to ask for his bed to be made sometimes late into the afternoon which does get to him a bit. The home has been marvellous since the COVID outbreak keeping resident's safe.

The staff have been absolutely excellent with the care and service they have provided at all times. They have worked really hard especially through these very challenging times. Although my mum can be fussy and awkward at times, they always strive to accommodate her needs and well being. Since moving
to the home she has been a lot happier and settled. I believe this is down to the care and attention she receives from all the staff.

The staff at this care home are all so friendly and helpful. They should all be congratulated for their hard work and commitment in keeping Victoria House COVID free.
They are providing excellent care for my mother who is happy in her enviroment. I don't have to worry about my mother as I know she
is being so well cared for. A big thank you to all at Victoria House.

The home is very welcoming, always clean and tidy and has a nice homely feel.
The staff are all very friendly and always happy to chat, the manager is also lovely and always on hand should we have any questions.
With my nan being very independent the staff all give her the space and time to do things
on her own with little prompts to help her remember the daily tasks she was forgetting when on her own.
The facilities are also great, entertainment on most days and a hairdressers on site that my nan visits every Wednesday. A chiropodist also visits monthly, so we know all her needs are well met and she is kept entertained and social.
We know she is well cared for and is a lot happier in herself since coming to Victoria House.

I am currently a Team Leader at Victoria House. I started as a Domestic in 1992 and have worked here through many job roles over my 30-year service.


Victoria House has a special place in my heart, its my second home and my extended family.


The service users are happy and content, and family members often comment how happy their loved ones are.


We excel at providing person-centred care, promoting independence and excellent palliative care. I have known many staff to go above and beyond to ensure someone’s last days are comfortable and in compliance with their wishes.


Shaw healthcare have supported me throughout my progression, and provided many training opportunities. To enhance my skills and knowledge. I love my job and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

I was made redundant in the job that I loved in March. I knew I had to go to work but I was really unsure on what I wanted to do.
Id worked in care previously but, wasn’t a 100% sure if it was exactly what I wanted to do.
I saw on Facebook that Victoria House was doing some fundraising for a local man and I could join in in by zoom.
When I did I was blown away by the atmosphere in the home, it felt as though I was their joining in and I thought “I want to be part of that”.


I applied for a job straight away and I joined last week. I haven’t been disappointed, everyone’s so friendly and they are literally like an extended family to each other here. I was very apprehensive being the “new girl” but everyone’s made me feel very welcome I look forward to my future at Victoria House.

I started working at Victoria House alongside school when I was 16 as a Bank Domestic Assistant, and since leaving school I am now have permanent hours as a Catering Assistant.
As a first job, I have felt extremely supported by everyone here and really enjoy doing both roles.
Victoria House has such a homely atmosphere and welcomes everyone in, it truly is like a second family here.

I have worked at Victoria House for 27 years, I started out as a Domestic Assistant and went on to do Care. I have also worked in the kitchen as a Kitchen Assistant and a Cook.
I have enjoyed all my roles working here over the years and have worked with and still do, some lovely, genuine, hard working people. When you walk through the front of Victoria House, you will notice what a friendly, welcoming and homely place it is, this is down to the caring staff that work here making Victoria House a lovely place to work and live.
This reflects in the residents as they are happy and always saying what a homely environment Victoria House is.
They have a variety of daily activities, bingo, quizzes, themed food evenings etc.
The hairdressers visits also once a week to do their hair if they wish to have it done.
The last 18 months since Covid has been about has been very tough but, with all the staff pulling together, we have tried to maintain as much normality as possible for our residents.

I have been employed in the care sector since 1993 , firstly with the NNCC, private sector then with Shaw Healthcare from 2010, starting at Sandalwood Court as a Deputy Manager and then progressing to Service Manager in 2011, as my colleague will all agree, Victoria House is a home from home. The Team work at Victoria House is exceptional and I am very proud to be the Manager at Victoria House. No two days are the same, during this pandemic we have become, experts in fields we knew nothing about but we have achieved the very best of care our resident’s deserve, we have kept them safe and this is all down to the dedication of the staff within Victoria House and of course the support the residents have given to us, keep going as we are all in the same boat and we have all rowed together.
