Her family are extremely happy with the care my mother receives. The management and staff have been and continue to be remarkable during the Covid-19 pandemic. As far as my mother is concerned, her care has been seamless and she appreciates why, for instance, the staff wear masks. Established and newer
staff understand her needs and concerns and do their utmost to make her feel settled and happy. We regularly see genuine affection displayed. The family is kept fully informed about my mother’s health and well-being, and I particularly appreciate the efforts made to encourage her to phone us.
A programme of refurbishment means that both the interior and exterior are attractive, modern and fresh. We feel very lucky that our mother has made Farthings her home and could not wish for anywhere that meets her needs better.

Excellent, family-based care home offering holistic care. Mum is treated like a family member and feels safe in this environment. As family, we are also encouraged to visit and participate in activities. All staff are very caring and treat Mum as an individual - they understand her needs and care for
her appropriately.

This is an excellent care home we looked at three before we put my granny in Farthings, none of them lived up to their standards. Excellent staff, they are very friendly and caring towards my grandmother and very clean throughout the building. The food is excellent so perfect in every way. Our mind
is settled to know that our granny is getting well looked after.

My mother has been a resident for nearly 7 years and though there have been many changes to the staff over time, the standards of care have remained high.
I have always been happy with the care and have a good relationship with the staff who are both professional and approachable.
I feel they manage
to keep a homely atmosphere and treat all residents as individuals whilst also ensuring everyone is included in the life of the home.
I would definitely recommend it for both a long or short term stay.
Thank you to everyone at Farthings.

This is a lovely rural home with a large airy sitting room looking over the courtyard garden. The food is home cooked, the rooms are clean, spacious and modern but it is the level of care from the outstanding staff which really makes this home special. They looked after my mum for two years always treating
her with complete respect, dignity, exceptional kindness and good humour. They went out of their way to get her special equipment and facilities that made her life more comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. Every resident is treated as an individual and their well being is of paramount importance. I cannot thank them enough for what they did and I would not hesitate for a moment to recommend this home to others.

Thank-you for your exceptionally kind words, Maggie. Every Farthings resident and their family for that matter, joins our extended family the moment they walk in the door. I can honestly say that your Mum has been a special addition and is talked of often. None of us can watch "Strictly come dancing" without thinking of her! Best wishes to you and your family. Please do call in and see us!

The carehome is very homely, the staff are very attentive, caring and treat the residents as they would their own family.
My sister was treated with respect, dignity, encouraged to maintain as much independence as able and given as much privacy as she wanted.
The meals are excellent, nutritionally
balanced and and the choice very good.
The home has an activities organiser who organises activities for the residents, they also have people come in for entertainment.

The staff went out of their way to cater for my sister's needs and as a former hospital social worker who has visited many care homes, it is one of the friendliest I have been in.

The Manager is very professional, caring and empathetic and went above and beyond to ensure my sister had all the help she needed from other agencies and peoples.

I would certainly recommend this home.

We are always keen to improve our service and the residents' experience of our care. To get such a fantastic review from a relative with your past experience , really has been a very welcome event. You must call in whenever you are passing. No need to prearrange, tea and cake always on the menu.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.182)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.182) out of 10 for Farthings Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.482 for Farthings Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (44 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.482

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Farthings Residential Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 22 registered maximum number of service users is 4.4, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I’ve worked in care homes for over 24 years now, qualified with Level 2 and 3 in Health & Social Care, Level 5 Management of Adult Residential Health & Social Care Settings and a Level 7 CMI Strategic Management qualification. I followed my mum into the job by volunteering at our local care home where she worked, she had also followed her mum into care, as my nana was the Matron of a council care home for 20 years.

Everything I do makes me happy in my role but nothing more so than seeing my residents smile and knowing the staff feel supported and also enjoy their jobs, as it can be long and at times difficult hours in care work.

Over the years I have worked in 12 different homes, some of those were for the same company as I progressed, but to me, Farthings outweighs all previous experiences through my career. I feel happy and content here, I wake every day happy to come to work even through difficult times in the industry I always feel supported and encouraged by the Directors and the family as a whole.

My favourite thing overall is that the home is family run, but led by the resident's wants and wishes. Ashall Care Ltd go above and beyond to ensure the residents receive everything they need along with The Farthings Team all together really get on and enjoy working together.

I feel 100% confident in the delivery of care to our residents is second to none.

I’m a Director at Ashall Care Ltd and the Nominated Individual with the CQC for Farthings. Farthings has been part of my family’s heart and lives for over 30 years. I have spent over 12 years working in various roles for the NHS, this gave me a great foundation of how care organisations should operate and how to set, achieve and maintain high standards of care.

I have been working operationally at Farthings for over 9 years and it has been an absolute pleasure to be part of and seeing the home grow, evolve and move forward over this time.

Every time I’m at Farthings I hear laughing amongst the residents and the staff team, it is truly heart-warming to know that the residents are happy and well looked after, as part of the Farthings family, and that the staff team are happy in their work.
