Newgate Lodge Care Home is situated in the market town of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. The Home is ideally located close to the town centre with good bus, rail and road links and only a short journey to the picturesque settings of Newstead Abbey and Sherwood Forest.

Newgate Lodge is a residential care home registered to provide Residential and Dementia care for 60 older persons. They have been awarded the Dementia Quality Mark by Nottinghamshire Social Services and their CQC rating is “GOOD” with good achieved in all 5 inspection areas (March 2019).

All care plans are designed to meet the unique needs of each individual, recognising their abilities and always encouraging and assisting independence, empowering people to remain in control of their daily lives. The team also invites loved ones and representatives to be actively involved in the care planning process with regular reviews.

The building and facilities are first class.
The staff are absolutely superb, very friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
Since mom went in April 2017 the improvement in her appearance and outlook is nothing more than exceptional, this is all down to the facilities and staff.
The best testament
the home can have is Mom, she is constantly saying when we visit “I’m very happy here” which takes a lot of pressure off our family and gives us a lot of comfort knowing she is being looked after so well.

We put my mum in Newgate Lodge care after a fall breaking her hip. After a short stay in a hospital, she was unable to walk and was discharged from physio at the hospital. The first thing Newgate Lodge did was encourage mum to get up and walking which they did the first day. Something the hospital failed
to do. She is now up and mobile again and being looked after in a clean, safe, environment by trained staff that genuinely care about her. She is happy, well fed and bathed regularly thanks Newgate Lodge, the excellent care you have provided for my mum is next to none.

My grandmother has been here since January this year and from being told at the hospital that she’d never walk again due to her having dementia to now you would not believe the progress she has made. On day one they got her up and walking which we had not seen in months. She’s had her ups and downs
whilst being here but the staff have always strived and got my grandma through it successfully and continued to make her progress. She’s happy and well looked after and is like a totally different woman we wouldn’t find a better place for her to be.

Newgate Lodge is an excellent care home. I can not praise the staff enough for the care and time they spent looking after my mother. It is clear from the moment you set foot in the home that quality care and a friendly loving environment are their top priority.


I would not hesitate to recommend

this care home for your loved one. I turned up one day to visit to be told that Mum and another couple of residents had been taken out for lunch at a nearby pub and Mum evidently really enjoyed these outings. When I visited at meal times the food looked and smelled very appetizing and the residents obviously enjoyed it.

My friend went to Newgate Lodge Mansfield in July 2017. She, throughout her stay, was cared for with the utmost dignity and respect. The staff and management were professional and most of all caring. The home was spotless and every time I visited nothing was too much trouble. The staff and manager were
never judgemental and whenever I telephoned were available to talk. Nothing was ever a problem. My friend passed away in December and was given the utmost care, respect and dignity until the end. I cannot thank and praise Newgate Lodge enough.

I am very experienced in caring on a professional level for people with dementia, and other care needs. I, therefore, looked at Newgate Lodge in a professional way, and a personal way, when my aunt became a resident. I have yet to find a fault with this place after many visits. The staff are always
polite, friendly and helpful. The care is second to none. The manager is so approachable and aware. She took the time to speak to us today - I feel to make sure we were prepared for the inevitable. This was done in such a caring and compassionate way. I live a long way away from Mansfield so would not have any of my loved ones admitted to Newgate Lodge, but I would hope that I could find somewhere as good near to me, but I doubt it! The place is so clean and welcoming. My uncle visited his wife regularly and he too was 'looked out for' by the staff. He once said he felt like he was one of the family. If only every care home could be made to follow the example shown by Newgate Lodge.

I feel so lucky to have found a place for my mum at Newgate Lodge until she died, she was so well cared for, treated with respect and love. The home itself was always spotless clean as were all the residents. Always plenty of staff around to keep an eye on everyone. Altogether a clean, friendly and
loving nursing home.

Laura joined Lidder Care in 2022, bringing over 20 years of experience in caring for older adults. Her impressive career in the care industry has seen her rise from a Care Assistant to Team Leader, then Head of Care and ultimately a Home Manager.


As the Registered Manager at Newgate Lodge Care Home, Laura is dedicated to fostering a happy and safe environment where residents and their families can spend quality time together. Laura’s favourite aspect of her role is engaging with residents and their families.


In her spare time, Laura enjoys spending time with friends and family, loves summer holidays and enjoys diving into a box set in the winter.

Lee has been Newgate Lodge’s Deputy Manager for the past 7 years. Lifestyle and Wellbeing Lead, Leanne became a part of Newgate Lodge in 2023, bringing her rich background in care, activities and childcare.


A qualified Nursery Teacher and teaching assistant, Leanne skilfully oversees residents’ lifestyles, planning events and daily activities that bring joy and engagement. Leanne finds immense satisfaction in witnessing the positive impact these activities have on the residents’ lives.


Leanne is an avid music fan, she loves to dance and when she is not grooving to her favourite tune, she enjoys relaxing and embracing the beauty of the outdoors.

Sharon Luckcuck

Job Title: Head of Kitchen

Joined: 2004

Sharon became a part of the Newgate Lodge team back in 2004 and during her time advanced from carer to senior carer to her current role as Head Chef. With over 35 years of culinary experience, she provides a variety of nutritious and delicious meals tailored to all residents’ individual preferences, taking pride in creating dishes that bring joy to everyone.


When she isn’t cooking up a storm in the kitchen, Sharon pursues her passion for motorbikes and enjoys riding her Harley Davidson!


Denise

Denise Shaw

Job Title: Head Housekeeper

Joined: 2003

Denise has been a part of the Newgate Lodge team since 2003. She has had various roles including Night Carer, Day Carer and Senior Carer. Currently, Denise serves as the Housekeeping Manager, where she ensures all areas of the home are impeccably clean and well maintained. Denise takes great pleasure in every aspect of her role!


In her spare time, Denise enjoys getting to immerse herself in a good book, travelling on holidays and spending time with her family.


Tony

Tony Nolan

Job Title: Maintenance

Joined: 2022

Following a successful 27-year career installing fire alarms and intruder alarms, Tony joined Lowmoor Nursing Home as part of the Maintenance team in December 2022.


What Tony enjoys most about his role is the satisfaction he receives when a task is completed! He also loves the aspect of problem-solving coming up with ideas and resolving issues. The maintenance team look after the upkeep of the home, perform repairs and maintain outdoor areas.


When Tony is away from work, he enjoys spending time with his family and scouting.
