I visited The Rookery to see a friend who was staying at the home. This is a bright and very friendly home. The staff are very attentive and go the extra mile for all the residents. There is a new manager here who is friendly and really approachable. The residents are well cared for and they have pets
- a dog and a bird. There is a really homely atmosphere and I would recommend this home.

Staff are pleasant and welcoming. The manageress is brilliant and keeps me up to date with my aunt's progress. We always have a cuppa and biscuit and a laugh and a joke.

I left my own house to live here six months ago and I am thankful that it is such a homely place to live.

My Mum has recently stayed at The Rookery care home in Eastwood for one week's respite. She was very nervous prior to her stay as this was her first ever visit in a care home. This was understandable but she needn’t have, as she soon settled in. The staff were lovely and Mum was well cared for, it’s
like a family community, a lovely old building with lots of character. When I’ve visited, even though the staff are kept busy, there was always a good atmosphere and nothing was too much trouble.

My father stayed for six weeks respite care following a hospitalisation for a similar time period. The home and all its staff were wonderful in getting him back on his feet, building up his strength and keeping him motivated. The staff were all wonderful and really did care for him like one of their
own family. I would really recommend it.

I have had no regrets about my mother being in The Rookery. She is looked after very well with plenty of care and attention. The management and staff are excellent and always available to me if I have anything I need to know.

My brother has been a resident in this care home for a year now. Has settled in very well, the staff are very friendly and understand his needs as he has learning difficulties. It is like home from home.

The problem I find is the front and rear gardens - they could do with a makeover. This would possibly give the ambulant residents the encouragement to sit outside in good summer weather and also give the non-ambulant residents the opportunity to just look at the plants and flowers from their outside
seating.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.650)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.650) out of 10 for The Rookery Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.750 for The Rookery Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.75

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Rookery Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
