At Holt House admission is open to anyone irrespective of personal belief but the ethos of the home is Christian. Although not all staff are practising Christians, Holt House is run on Christian principles.
        
Care is enhanced by an awareness that people should be regarded holistically, which means their physical, spiritual and mental well-being are all cared for. With this in mind the care that is available has an input from the Home Chaplain who is an ordained minister.

This home accommodates older people, living in 3 units consisting of its own lounge and breakfast area. All single bedrooms each have en-suite facilities of a washbasin and toilet. Separate bathrooms with assisted mechanical aids are also situated on each suite.

There is a beautiful conservatory overlooking the gardens, which residents are encouraged to use.

My mum is in Holt House for respite care. I cannot praise the staff and the care they provide more highly. Right from the outset, they took the time to understand my mum's condition (server dementia) and made sure she became an active member of their little community. Mum is very happy and relaxed at
Holt House - we were so lucky to find such a fantastic place for her.

We cannot recommend Holt House enough. The staff are so supportive, caring, helpful and professional. It has a lovely atmosphere - friendly, welcoming and very respectful. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the lounge and conservatory are bright and cheerful. We are so grateful for everything

Dad calls it home, he never called his previous care home as home. Only as the care home. When we bought him in to see the home he said yes immediately as he said it felt right. Dad is safe and secure, we as a family have no worries whatsoever as we know he is well looked after. His only complaint is
when he doesn't win chocolate on the bingo, how wonderful is that. He loves his gravy on everything so they always give him an extra jug to pour. They are kind, caring and treat Dad as family, what more could you ask for.

Mum has Alzheimer's and although she is lithe, she has no clue where she is or where her room is etc, the home has a fantastic staff team who are always helpful, polite and respectful. They also have a fantastic entertainment coordinator who daily has many styles and varieties of different activities
and she ensures that all residents are included and kept active and involved.

Our mum has settled in very well at Holt House since her arrival in April this year. There are daily activities on offer and each resident is made to feel special. Our mum particularly enjoyed the entertainment provided by a singer a couple of weeks ago. We are reassured knowing our mum is very well
cared for. She, unfortunately, had a medical episode recently and the staff were wonderful and very professional. Thank you.

Holt House is a warm, comfortable and welcoming home with comfortable bedrooms which are kept meticulously clean. The management team are visible at all times and the care team and activities coordinator works hard to keep all residents safe and well looked after. During lockdown, the team did everything
possible to keep our loved ones safe and well. We could ring/FaceTime at any point and speak to them. Pod visits and now garden visits are fantastic. First-class.

Dad is very settled in Holt House, he has no worries at all but he misses going on the trips out - he understands the rules are because of Covid-19. Dad is in the best place and wants for nothing more, he is very pleased with all aspects of life at Holt House.

I would highly recommend Holt House. I was invited to a number of places when trying to place Mum. Holt House immediately seemed much better than the others. They are very professional but also deeply caring and really put the residents first. I visit Mum most days and would know if there were any real
problems, there aren't. It's a special place and I would live there myself if I needed full-time care. It has a genuinely loving, peaceful atmosphere.

When looking for some respite care for my mother I found Holt House (Salvation Army). I didn't know that The Salvation Army had elderly care homes. I was extremely pleased with the care my mother received. She now lives here permanently. She is very well cared for with respect and dignity. During the
pandemic, the residents were very well protected, all PPE was in place, video calls, window visits and all non-contact communication were arranged for us all to keep in contact. It was a Covid-free home. I would highly recommend Holt House.

My mother entered Holt House anxious and depressed. She is now much more relaxed and happy with her life. No one wants to be in a care home everyone wants to stay in their own home. Loneliness is a terrible affliction. The family can now relax knowing that she is well cared for and there is always someone
with her which has calmed her. As someone else has said, it is like a 5*hotel and if I need to go into a care home, I will go here!

Very friendly and accommodating; I turned up to visit with no notice (extreme weather conditions and unsure if I would make it). Welcomed me; private space to spend time with my relative. Obviously lots of activities and things to do. Very friendly and clearly caring staff.

My mum has been resident at Holt House for five years.
Holt House is exceptionally well run, mum continues to receive outstanding care whilst maintaining her dignity and she is treated with respect at all times, Mum is and feels loved and cherished. This is a home that makes you feel at home.
There
are a wide and full range of activities and entertainment which not only provide ongoing stimulation but most importantly, enjoyment and fun.
Family members are made to feel welcome and management are always available to answer any questions or help with any special requests.
Any medical needs are attended to immediately, Doctors visit if required, as do Chiropodist, Dentist, Opticians etc. There is even a dedicated hair salon with a qualified hairdresser, newspapers are delivered on a daily basis. Residents pastoral needs are catered for with morning services, should residents wish to take part.
I cannot recommend Holt House highly enough.

Holt House is very clean, warm and homely. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are personalised and cosy. Food is good with lots of choice. Unfortunately, lack of activities since Christmas, need to focus on this as residents like stimulation.

Thank you very much for your review and very kind words. We accept that there has been a lack of in house activities due to the service implementing a new activity role within our homes. We intend to advertise to fill this role very shortly. We have worked very hard to ensure that activities continue to take place for our residents and since December there have been a total of 14 entertainers visit the home, 6 group trips out as well as numerous 1-1 trips out. In addition to this our staff have been very proactive in ensuring that some activity happens every afternoon. We have recently employed a temporary care assistant whose primary responsibility is to ensure that activities are going on as much as possible in the interim. We will keep everyone updated on the position of the activities role.

My relative has been living at Holt House for nearly four years. He seems happy, he is certainly well looked after. I no longer have to worry regarding his safety. All the staff treat him well. I was worried when he first went there, as he was an independent man, that he would not settle, how wrong
was I. I looked around various care homes, as I work in social care, thank goodness I chose this one as he is certainly looked after. I can't praise this home enough, he is well cared for. He goes out with staff to various places. The home is clean, staff are friendly. He seems to enjoy the meals there. Would highly recommend this home to others.

My mother-in-law moved into Holt house in September 2014 - extremely distressed and in great pain, having - for short time - been in another home. They very soon got the pain under control and in spite of never wanting to go in a home she seem settled in due to the love and care of the staff.
Sadly
after sixteen months she died there on the 17th of January. The end of life care she received was ongoing and the family were treated with love and respect. This is a wonderful home where every single member of staff is kind and caring. Many of the staff have been there a long time and even more recent additions are wonderful. Our family would recommend Holt House without reservation.

I'm Julie, the registered manager at Holt House. I have worked in the care industry from leaving college, working my way up from a nursing assistant to a home manager level.


I have been a home manager for over 15 years and I am passionate about giving our residents the love and support they deserve.


It is a privilege to work in our resident's home.


A quirky fact is I collect tattoos- like them or loathe them they are always a talking point for the residents :)
