Brookdale Care Home St Paul's Court Bury cared for my mother for 3 months until she passed away. They are a lovely caring team that caring for people is more than just a job to them. They provided my mum with love, care and support and nothing seemed too much trouble. I can't thank them enough.

Laundry- the actual laundry function is very good but the identification of clothing and after delivery to the rooms could be improved. Staff investment is required with regards to a full time activities coordinator with particular reference to the dementia unit.

We viewed a number of homes for our mum/nan and wanted the best possible care for her. We choose Brookdale believing it was the best care home in the area and we haven't been disappointed. The management and care staff attend to every need we have and our mum/nan has. They deal with everything with
patience and compassion and nothing is too much trouble. The hands on care she receives is more than we could have expected. 5 star care in our opinion and we couldn't be happier given a difficult situation for us all.

My mother had to move into permanent care, due to a spell in hospital. We searched for an appropriate place for sometime, ultimately we came across Brookdale. We are pleased that we found the place for mothers sake. Everything is well kept, the services are excellent. The staff are caring, friendly
and helpful. Well done Brookdale!

Most of the staff are helpful and supportive and responds to requests. I find some of the staff seem to care more than others. Management are very good and supportive. Lots of my mum's belongings such as makeup, glasses, perfume go missing regularly which upsets both my mum and I. She is often dressed
in others clothes which are labelled. I have found sometimes that messages are not relayed. My mum seems generally happy and I feel happy because of this. I would like her belongings/clothing to be put back correctly after washing etc.

My close friend, who I had shared a home with for 40 years spent 11 months in the care of Brookdale until she passed away on New Years eve 2015. The care and support, not only to her but to me too was excellent. The staff spent time explaining behaviours and medication to me and accompanied me to hospital
and dentist appointments. She was happy in Brookdale and regarded them as a second family. The food, hygiene and accommodation was all top notch and management equally supportive. I had no reason to question any action at all.

General and personal care is good at all times, but shortage of staff means waiting, sometimes the computer seems to 'take over' the staff near finishing time. Dignity is always dealt with in a caring manner by all the staff. Staff are available and will try to supply any help. Medical advice is good
and Doctors advice obtained. Food is good with an alternative menu. All round a good care home.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.150)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.150) out of 10 for Brookdale Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.474 for Brookdale Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (73 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 116 Ratings = 4.474

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.676 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brookdale Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 registered maximum number of service users is 11.6. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.6 = 0.776

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
