The Beeches is absolutely outstanding. I cannot fault the manager and her team of dedicated staff who have provided the best of care for my nan during these tough times.
The setting inside and out is amazing, I feel so at ease and truly thankful that Nan has been able to stay there, as I have the peace
of mind she is well looked after in a beautifully clean environment.
I can speak with the staff any time of day and they always keep me updated.
All the staff and carers are incredible and I thank them sincerely for everything they have done and continue to do.

Mum recently moved here, and all the staff have made such a traumatic time so much easier. Their communication with relatives is outstanding, and I feel assured that Mum is being looked after with care, compassion and humour. The environment is beautiful - wide corridors, amazing views and a calmness
that helps Mum to feel at home. The combination of care and environment has ensured that Mum is happy and settled - I couldn't wish for more!

My wife has been a resident of Walshaw Hall since December 2015, and throughout this time, she has been cared for with the utmost dignity and compassion. I have been treated with the same respect from the staff and management on my daily visits (prior to the last year's lockdown). Her room has been
kept clean and tidy and very pleasant to be in, food is served on the whole hot and appetising with the menu very varied. The activities for the residents who can participate are good and varied. I admire the dedication and compassion the staff give my wife and other residents.

My mum became a resident on the day of lockdown, and the extended separation from her has been terrible. However, we have been comforted to know that she is so well cared for, clean, comfortable and loved, despite her dementia making her a bit grumpy sometimes. Full marks to management for facilitating
visits whenever they have been able to do so legally.

I have only had a "pod" visit with my brother and have not seen his room or any other internal feature of the care home. The staff I have met all appear to look after my brother very well, and he gets on with them delightfully. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Walshaw Hall to anyone who needs care.

My wife has been in Walshaw Hall since May 2018 with Fronto Temporal Dementia. During this period, the staff have looked after her with incredible professionalism and compassionate care. They have dealt with some very challenging behaviour in the first years to a more nursing role latterly. Throughout
all of this time, I have never doubted that from top to bottom, all at Walshaw Hall always have the best interest of their residents at the core of their day to day activities.

Mum has been in The Beeches for three years and has been very well cared for. The staff are professional, kind, caring and supportive. As her Alzheimer's has progressed, they couldn't have done more to ensure she is settled, safe and all her needs carefully attended to. During the pandemic, they have
done a sterling job and they have kept me updated on Mum's condition and well being.

My Mother has been a resident for a few years now and her dementia has progressed through this time. I have been extremely happy with the care and thoughtfulness of the staff to my Mother. As I live in London, it is important to be able to trust the care team to give me feedback when I can’t be there
myself and in that respect, they have been excellent. I’m so pleased that we chose Walshaw Hall.

Mum had dementia. We cared for her at home until she forgot that it was her home and then found The Beeches. She was very happy with her new family and so were we.
Mum deteriorated steadily and became physically unwell during the Covid lockdown period. In May she reached her end of life care stage,
we felt absolutely distraught.
Because of my nursing experience within Palliative care, it was agreed that I could nurse mum through this final period, my partner joined me to assist.
The staff were exceptional! Professional, caring and respectful. Their love and kindness supported us so much through what was a difficult time. It was understood that doing this well was the last thing that we could do for mum.
I can't speak highly enough of The Beeches ..... mum's lived as well as she possibly could, with people that genuinely cared for her and then, when it was her time, she died as well as she could.
The Beeches proved to be a support for us all, I will never forget the kindness. Thank you

We wanted to take our friend out in her wheelchair as she was desperate for some fresh air.
We found it very difficult to locate somewhere where we could exit with the wheelchair and had the same difficulty on returning.

My father is 90 and was struggling at home despite having morning visits from social homecare providers, to the point where we both agreed that he needed something to break out of his physical and mental downhill spiral and the challenges faced looking at the same four walls each day. He agreed to one
week's respite and we had previously visited Walshaw Hall in case of this type of event. Although my father was, in general, more healthy than most of the clients at the home, after a week of different surroundings, more movement, three decent meals a day and fantastic and attentive treatment, he has returned home much brighter.
Thanks again to all the staff, sometimes theirs is a thankless task but on each of my visits, I could see the high level of control and professionalism showed by all.
I would highly recommend Walshaw Hall to anyone whose relatives needed respite or more long-term care. Although not cheap, you basically get what you pay for.

The Beeches is a beautiful place for my father to be cared for, it is purpose built with a lovely, calm atmosphere in the most wonderful setting. All the staff are extremely kind, caring and approachable, nothing is ever too much trouble. My father is at all times treated with the utmost care and respect.
The ensuite rooms are of an exceptionally high standard and the food offered is all home cooked and of excellent quality. There are always lots of varied activities for residents to participate in, all organised by the activities coordinator. We as a family could not wish for my father to be anywhere better, it is thanks to all of the dedicated staff and management that my father settled here so quickly and it is reassuring for us to know that he is so well cared for.

My dad was at Walshaw Hall for respite as he had a cast on following fractured hip. He was in a respite bed for nearly 6 weeks awaiting transfer to intermediate care.
I am a carer myself by profession with over 20 years experience and as you would expect have experience of and views on care.
I was
totally satisfied with the care that my dad received at Walshaw Hall. The staff, environment and personal attention were excellent. My dad was happy there. Thank you.

Walshaw Hall residential is superb. Amazing carers and wider staff from the kitchen to the management, tailored care, lovely environment, very good quality food and a genuine sense of a home away from home. Dad has settled there much better than we ever anticipated because the carers are so wonderful.
I've looked at so many care homes and this one alongside Heathlands stand out above the crowd. So grateful and thank you to all staff.

Mum has been resident in The Beeches since October and has at all times been treated with the utmost dignity and respect by staff and management.

As a regular visitor to The Beeches, I have witnessed first hand how well the staff get to know the residents, and balance meeting their care needs with

their right to independence, respect and to be treated as individuals. In hand with this, care plans are comprehensive and continually updated. Facilities are first rate - bedrooms are comfortable, a good size and well furnished, with en suite wet rooms; Communal areas are spacious and bright.

In my experience, The Beeches take a very genuine and proactive approach to the care given to their residents, whilst also offering much-needed support to residents' families. It is thanks to the dedicated efforts of the entire team that mum has been able to settle in so well. I am extremely grateful to all at The Beeches for giving me the peace of mind that mum is safe, well looked after and happy.

Current Review Score: 8.3 (8.304)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.304) out of 10 for Walshaw Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for Walshaw Hall is calculated as follows: ( (23 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 23 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.304 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Walshaw Hall is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.2 = 0.179

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
