Dad looks healthier, he's happier and he is more active at Laburnum House than she was at home. I've felt comfortable leaving Dad in their care right from the offset. The team are fantastic and this really shone through at the recent BBQ, even when the off-duty staff helped to make sure the residents
were safe and looked after. The feedback given is listened to and actioned quickly as everyone cares about being the best they can be. I'm glad we were able to get Dad a place at Laburnum House and I'm grateful for the care and respect they show Dad.

As my mum constantly refused 24-hour care until the age of 99, she only spent 5 months here last year until she died in August 2023. During that time she was cared for by the most amazing team of people anyone could wish for. The compassion, kindness, gentleness and love they showed her and myself was
outstanding. I have continued to visit as often as I can which is a testament to the high regard I have for the people who work tirelessly to give quality of life to their residents.

Laburnum is an excellent care home. All staff and management are very caring. My mum was in Laburnum for 4 years. Dad has been there for 4 years up to now. Would not hesitate to recommend it.

My mother, who has dementia, has now been a resident at Laburnum for almost 6 years. Not once have I ever had any issues or concerns with the love and care she has received over this time. She is treated with respect and dignity which I put down to all the staff at the home, from admin, care (day and
night), domestic and kitchen staff. Mum has always been happy and even with her worsening condition she still smiles at the staff and seems very content at the home. This is extremely reassuring for me and I cannot praise them enough.

The care at Laburnum House is excellent all the staff are friendly, helpful, and very supportive to all our family. The manager is approachable when needed. The home is very clean and well-kept. The furniture in some rooms is dated but the care is the most important. We are always greeted with a smile
and the food is varied and a great standard.

My mother continues to be happy at Laburnum House, praising the caring attitude of the staff and the standard of food. There have been some medical issues which Laburnum House has made every effort to resolve, in particular her poor sleep pattern. She has had a few falls in spite of the vigilance of
staff, but luckily has not sustained any real injury and has been taken to hospital if there are any worries about the after-effects. Our only real criticism is the lack of activities for residents and the lack of stimulation as a result.

Staff were always incredibly supportive and responsive throughout my grand nearly two years at Laburnum House. My gran always wanted quite a lot of attention and has major physical health and anxiety issues. Nevertheless, she remained highly complimentary of you all throughout! This was quite an achievement
because she has been known to express concerns previously! When my gran's needs increased, staff and team leaders found extra time and energy to get her through. Thank you.

My aunt is well looked after, enjoyed the visit of school children singing before I came. The manager has been so helpful and accommodating in a change of circumstances. There's a lovely atmosphere even though some residents are challenging and I'm impressed with the interaction between staff and residents.

My father has been a resident at Laburnum House for two years, and throughout that time, we have been extremely happy with the care and support he receives. Communication is excellent, and we are kept fully informed. All staff are professional and caring and always welcome us with a smile when we visit.

I have always found the staff to be very helpful and caring towards my sister. Nothing ever seems too much trouble and they are always keen to give me an update on my sister. I have noticed a huge difference in my sister since she came to Laburnum House. She is a lot happier than I have seen her for

I was very anxious about moving Dad into a care home but the staff made the transition much easier. Nothing was too much trouble and they have time to talk to me about Dad. He looks much better and has put weight on due to being cared for properly. It would be nice if there were more 1:1 interactions
with him, playing cards and dominoes etc. But I do understand staff are busy with residents whose medical needs are much greater. It's nice that the time that I now spend with Dad is focused on him rather than being the day-to-day tasks that needed doing such as cleaning and shopping!

I like the staff, also the rooms are kept clean and relatives are called to come when they like. I like most meals just a few I don't like. Overall I would not live anywhere else. (Grand)

Edelyn

Edelyn Napa

Job Title: General Manager

Joined: 2005

Edelyn was born and raised in the Philippines and the first industry she worked in was worlds away from care work too. Initially training and working in chemical engineering, Edelyn eventually found work as a production manager before training as an ISO auditor for eleven years.


But it wasn’t until 2004 that she found her true calling, when she decided to begin studying basic nursing in preparation for a move to the UK.


The Bloomcare family was excited to be able to welcome Edelyn in May 2005. The work came naturally to Edelyn and she soon began to climb the management ladder, eventually being chosen to manage the first Bloomcare home that we opened in Greater Manchester: Laburnum House. This was a huge responsibility and one that we felt we could only trust to Edelyn.


With our support, Edelyn has worked through various NVQ qualifications, and her wealth and variety of past experience has gifted her with the ability to communicate effectively with all kinds of people, as well as providing her with an indispensable set of leadership skills. All of these traits are central to the way that she runs Laburnum House. Everything that Edelyn and her staff do is carried out with the single goal of providing her residents with the highest level of bespoke care, with a focus on promoting independence, fostering healthy friendships, and retaining quality of life.
