Situated in an attractive residential area just outside of Rochdale in Lancashire, Oakland care home provides personalised residential and residential dementia care for older people.

Every corner of the welcoming and purpose-built home has been carefully thought through to offer an engaging environment for residents. With a sunny conservatory, hair salon, nail bar, sensory garden and a range of tastefully decorated single and en-suite bedrooms to choose from, residents benefit from a number of places to socialise with others as well as quieter spots to relax and unwind.

Meal times are a big focus at Oakland, and the catering team apply their creativity and culinary skills to offer a diverse menu that also meets the nutritional needs of each resident. The home offers a wide range of popular dining areas that provide a welcoming space to enjoy meals with fellow residents, or family and friends. For the warmer months the pretty garden is also a firm favourite with residents and their loved ones to enjoy a spot of al fresco dining.

Taking a holistic approach, the care team prioritise all-round wellbeing, ensuring residents are not only supported in their physical care needs but also have opportunities to engage in things they enjoy doing, whether it be activities in the home or spending time in the local community. When I visited, I found the home nicely decorated for Christmas the atmosphere warm and friendly the residents clean and nicely dressed. My friend said the food was very good and the staff caring.

Very pleased with overall standards of care, food and activities are good and we get a good level of interaction with the other residents.
My resident is always clean and well presented which is lovely to see following her stay in hospital prior to coming to live here.
There seems a good balance
of levels of residents needs so that the different requirements of care gel rather than clash. This home came recommended and I too pass that on.

I am more than happy with the care my mum receives, she has been in Oaklands for nearly 2 years. The staff are amazing, they let me know if my mum has doctors appt etc and keep me informed how she is. She's always smartly dressed and her hair is always lovely which really matters to my mum. Thank you.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Oakland Care Home due to the excellent care the staff give to their residents. I can go home after visiting Mum and relax knowing she is in safe hands and don't have to worry. They all deserve a medal.

Mum was a resident for approximately four years, very happy years.
She was well cared for. The staff were friendly and always approachable, helpful and very kind. I can recommend Oakland Care Home to anyone.
I was happy for mum to be cared for there and she was happy too. It is really a home from
home. She enjoyed the food, the company, entertainment etc. I could relax knowing she was being looked after. I visited frequently and never found anything to complain about.

Management and care staff are excellent, they do everything they can to encourage mother with her fluids, food and medication. As a family, we are offered care and support in many ways. My mother is treated with dignity and her room is kept clean, my mother has always been a fussy eating and sometimes
the food on offer is difficult to digest, so they work around it at that meal time, they don't leave her until the next meal time.
If I'd know what I know now, I would still want my mother to be accepted at Oaklands.

Currently, as they put it, this facility cannot cater to the care needs of my mother in law. She is quite active but apparently very disruptive.


According to a mental health nurse, she had a blast with my mother in law as long as she was willing to enter her world which is what all dementia patients

are like. They have their own world view, but some of the staff are not as understanding as others. There is no dedicated driver for the minibus (but I have known them use it to take residents to/from hospital) they currently have no activities person (they used to have someone last year, and they used to play bingo every week, and various crafting activities, etc) now they bring in singers and others monthly.


The residents used to be quite animated and willing to chat with any visitor which was one of the reasons we chose this business instead of places we had seen where the residents looked half asleep but now there are only a seldom few who seem willing to respond.

When there are concerns that a person’s care needs have changed the home would arrange for a Best Interests meeting and as a result of this meeting, it may be decided that the home can no longer care for their needs and a nursing assessment would be carried out.


An activities co-coordinator has now been recruited after many months without one. We are carrying out the required pre-employment checks-references and DBS and once completed this person will commence employment which will greatly enhance the quality of life for the residents in the home.

My grandad has been at Oaklands for a few months now and it appears he is receiving excellent care. He is always dressed well, shaved and looks immaculate. He says he is happy here and all the staff are friendly, helpful and always smiling. I would recommend Oaklands to anyone who may have family that
needs 24hour care.

My Mum has been in Oaklands since January, permanent since March. I have never had any problems with the care, staff, management. My Mum is happy there. She has settled really well. If I ever have to ask the staff for anything it is always taken care of.

I have lived at Oaklands for over 10 months now and I think that the care which I receive is excellent. I have a lovely big room which I have made my own little palace. The meals are very nice with lots of choice. I would recommend anyone to live here.

I moved my mum here in January 2016 because of dissatisfaction with her previous home. I was very impressed when we first called at Oaklands the staff were all so happy and friendly and really care for the residents. The home is always spotlessly clean. The lounge is very bright and cosy. I know mum
is well looked after here.

My father lived and was cared for in Oakland for almost seven years. His care was excellent. I continue to visit, and still feel the warmth of the staff. The residents seem happy, calm and well cared for. The staff continue to provide care to me when I visit to see the residents. This is a special place.

Introducing Ren Kataria
Home Manager at Oakland, Rochdale
“I believe kind care means not losing sight of the individual we are caring for, paying attention to the little things that can mean so much.”


Ren has gained over 20 years of experience in providing care and support for older people to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest possible standards of care and quality of life for Residents.


Ren joined Oakland care home as Home Manager as she closely shares HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She uses her experience to motivate her team to deliver care and support in a way that Residents gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Ren remarked: “I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.”


Outside of work, Ren loves nothing more than indulging in her love for trying new food.
