Situated in an attractive residential area just outside of Rochdale in Lancashire, Oakland care home provides personalised residential and residential dementia care for older people.

Every corner of the welcoming and purpose-built home has been carefully thought through to offer an engaging environment for residents. With a sunny conservatory, hair salon, nail bar, sensory garden and a range of tastefully decorated single and en-suite bedrooms to choose from, residents benefit from a number of places to socialise with others as well as quieter spots to relax and unwind.

Meal times are a big focus at Oakland, and the catering team apply their creativity and culinary skills to offer a diverse menu that also meets the nutritional needs of each resident. The home offers a wide range of popular dining areas that provide a welcoming space to enjoy meals with fellow residents, or family and friends. For the warmer months the pretty garden is also a firm favourite with residents and their loved ones to enjoy a spot of al fresco dining.

Taking a holistic approach, the care team prioritise all-round wellbeing, ensuring residents are not only supported in their physical care needs but also have opportunities to engage in things they enjoy doing, whether it be activities in the home or spending time in the local community. Their priority is to ensure each resident is living life to the full in a place they feel at home.

My husband has been in this home for 2 years. I am happy to say he is looked after very well. The home is clean and tidy. Food is good also all the staff.

I did not like the idea of my mother going into a care home but realised there was no other alternative. I checked the other care homes in my local area and found in my opinion Oakland staff actually care about the residents in their care. We were told even though the rooms are nice that we could adapt
the room to make it more homely as possible for my mum's comfort. The staff were very helpful and all are willing to explain in easy to understand terms how we can help make my mum's stay as pleasant as possible. There are often entertainers who sing to the residents they also have facilities for the family to have lunch or tea in private with their relative which helped me pick this care home.

Friendly open environment and always clean. Bright rooms and excellent with the conservatory and well kept gardens. Friendly and enthusiastic staff. Only criticism is that sometimes there doesn't seem to be enough on duty, especially to monitor the dining room at meal times. Always plenty going on and
staff are excellent with my grandma. Full marks to staff in the kitchen. They always ensure my grandma is well fed and often provide alternative meals if she won't eat from the menu.

After visiting my mum I cannot praise Oakland Care Home highly enough. The professionalism of every member of staff couldn't be bettered, along with their skill at what they all do, not only for the residents but her family as well.

Extremely friendly staff who interact well with both residents and visitors. Lovely food (porridge, corn flakes) and cater for all tastes. Good trips out and sitting in the bus shelter is always enjoyable.

Introducing Ren Kataria
Home Manager at Oakland, Rochdale
“I believe kind care means not losing sight of the individual we are caring for, paying attention to the little things that can mean so much.”


Ren has gained over 20 years of experience in providing care and support for older people to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest possible standards of care and quality of life for Residents.


Ren joined Oakland care home as Home Manager as she closely shares HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She uses her experience to motivate her team to deliver care and support in a way that Residents gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Ren remarked: “I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.”


Outside of work, Ren loves nothing more than indulging in her love for trying new food.
