My dad was in Stansfield Hall for only six months before he passed away. From the minute we left him there, I knew he would be looked after. He had Alzheimer's disease and advanced prostate cancer; he had become very difficult both in mobility and personality. The staff just took it in their stride.
Nothing was too much trouble. I just wish we had gotten him in there sooner. My dad was always clean and dressed appropriately. From what I heard, the food was very good; he didn't really have an appetite, so he missed out. He had his own room, which we were able to take his own furniture in as that helped my dad settle. When he became unwell, the manager organised a medical bed with an air mattress to prevent bed sores. And when he eventually reached end-of-life, one of the lovely ladies sat with him through the night, and then she rang me to say he had passed away. I will never forget that she did that. The care home feels very much like home.

My dad was in Stansfield Hall from December 2022 until he passed away on 27 April 2023. He had a terminal condition, poor memory and was at risk of falls. The manager arranged for extra aids in his room to reduce his risk of falls and arranged for a pressure-relieving mattress. All the staff were caring
and understanding and showed patience and empathy not only to Dad but to my mum, who is also a resident and also to myself. Communication was very good, and the staff kept us up to date with how Dad was and were quick to act if he became unwell. The night Dad passed away, the manager came in the middle of the night to support us. I am extremely grateful to all the staff for the care Dad received and thankful that Dad's last few months of life were in such a loving, caring and friendly place with people that grew to know Dad as we did. I would also like to thank the staff for the support given to Mum, who is still a resident at Stansfield, regularly checking on her and chatting with her at this sad time.

My mother was a resident at Stansfield Hall from 10th November '22 until she died on 17th May '23. I cannot express how grateful I am to all the staff and management, without exception, for their exemplary treatment of my mother. Having visited her very often in three different residential homes, I've
learned the only thing that really matters is the genuine quality of the staff, their deep and sincere involvement in their admirable role, and their genuine interest in the resident's well-being. In all these regards, every single member of the team outshone all my other experiences. I am deeply indebted to this wonderful group of truly remarkable people for how far they go in such compassionate care of old people, and I say that in the full knowledge that my mother was quite demanding and sometimes less appreciative than she could have been. Theirs is a small, family-run, intimate place with only long-term staff, and my mother never felt neglected. I saw her quality of life visibly improve at Stansfield Hall.

My father-in-law has been a resident for several years. The staff have always been amazing and have catered for all his needs in a very sensitive and caring way. They keep relatives constantly updated with everything we need to know, and nothing is ever too much trouble. The manager and her staff are
amazing.

Mum has been part of the 'Stansfield family for over three years and has always received the best care and attention during that time.
The family cannot thank all the staff enough for their love, care and support to us all during Mum's recent illness. They were and are amazing, keeping us updated at
all times.
Mum frequently comments on the cleanliness of the home, saying "that's what I like". Mum enjoys the activities and the staff's 'banter, as do I.
Mum is happy, so the family are happy. Thank you!

My Dad's been at Stansfield for around 18 months. He originally went temporarily whilst his home had been repaired. After three months, he had the option of returning home, looking for sheltered accommodation or staying. He chose to stay - that for me says it all.
The staff are extremely friendly,
genuinely care and many there a long time, i.e. happy place. They understand the client's needs - Dad is not a fan of fish pie Fridays, so gets his own meal instead. Pancakes/bacon are available for breakfast - he loves it. Allowed visitors at reasonable times. Rooms have clients' furniture/things, mightily important to my hoarder Dad. He's mobile, so I take him out in a week; if we're late back for meal time, it's either saved or they'll get him bacon and cheese on toast etc - no need to leave events early! Compared to other homes I know of, they have freedom and dignity.
They deal with a chemo regime and recognised a mini-stroke immediately for Dad.
The manager is easy to talk to and understanding. Feel blessed we found them.

At last, I have found my father a place in residential care that I feel totally happy with. The staff are all very friendly and caring, taking time to talk to the residents, and in my dad’s case, have a laugh and a joke, which he loves. The food is freshly cooked, varied and of good quality. The place
is spotlessly clean and always smells nice. It is well decorated. I can’t fault this home; the only regret is that my dad hadn’t come here years ago!

Words are not enough for Stansfield Hall for what they have gone through and are still going through an extremely difficult pandemic
As a family, we are so fortunate that our father (grandfather, great grandad) is being cared for like one of their own. It is difficult not being able just to pop in,
but the staff have supported us, as a family, keeping us updated.

My father has Parkinson’s, and the staff are constantly reviewing and adapting his needs.
The fresh, airy feel of the home is a credit to all involved - it is such a lovely, happy home.

My husband went into Stansfield Hall during the Covid pandemic; I was able to look around the home before he was admitted and found it to be clean and homely with a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Because of the pandemic, normal visiting hasn't been able to take place yet, but we've had a patio,
window and Pod visits. From the Pod visits overlooking one of the lounges, I've seen that the residents look happy and well cared for. I've had updates from the staff about my husband and have phoned them with queries, and I've found them to be dedicated and caring. My husband phones me regularly and tells me that the staff are very kind and also treat him with dignity; he has a good appetite and says the meals are good and the food is plentiful. Even without normal visiting inside the home yet, I've found it to be a superb and caring home with amazing staff, and I have nothing negative to say about it. I'm thankful there was a place at Stansfield Hall when we needed it.

I cannot speak highly enough of Stansfield Hall Care Home. It has the most wonderful caring staff who have looked after my Dad for nearly two years. It has a very homely atmosphere with dedicated carers who go above and beyond for their residents. My dad was an urgent admission, and we did not have
a choice of which home he went to, but I can honestly say, how very lucky we are that he was sent to this one. I would not hesitate to recommend it; it is wonderful!

My stepdad, who is 91, has been a resident since October 2019 when he was released from the hospital.
The staff have welcomed him with open arms and treat him like family.
Their level of care and professionalism is of a very high standard.
During the pandemic, they have gone above and beyond and
provided a safe place with lots of activities and been there for the residents throughout as there have been very limited chances to see our loved ones from afar. They provided a video call system so we could have a face to face. And we can call any time do date or night for updates.
The staff and management are very helpful, friendly and professional.
There are improvements planned in the near future, which will enhance the homes already fabulous environment.

My dad as been in this home since March 2019. He first arrived for a bit of respite care. He was welcomed by the manager and her team, and he fitted in straight away, so much so, that he decided he wanted to live here permanently, as he felt safe and enjoyed being in a community with other residents.
Dad is well cared for, well-fed and as plenty of friends. He has suffered several bouts of ill health and has been nursed back to good health by the team. Dad enjoys singing and dancing with the other residents, and has a fondness for all the girls. His room is cleaned regularly, the home is always clean and tidy, the home, in general, is homely and welcoming. The food is wholesome, traditional food, which Dad loves. If Dad as a problem, the staff always call us to make us aware. Communication with the home is easy by phone 24-hours a day. Anyone who as an elderly relative that needs care, love and a safe environment should consider Stansfield Hall Care Home.

My mum has recently been admitted to Stansfield for recuperation after a spell in hospital. She hasn’t been there long, but all the staff that I have dealt with have demonstrated great kindness, together with a willingness to treat my mum as an individual. We don’t yet know how long she’ll be staying,
but we have been very impressed so far.

If your relative has care needs and you require them to be clean, safe and for you to be informed of their well being, this is not the place. My dad who has dementia went from being a well presentable man with a lovely head of hair to becoming someone who resembled a tramp within months of being in
this home. His hair was closely cropped and his dentures were lost, which cost him £280 to replace. He also went missing from the home and whilst I understand this can happen, the fact the home did not notify his family is unacceptable, we found out from a member of the public. The Manager did not respond personally to any of the concerns we had. After another incident, I received an email from the manager, terminating my dad's contract and giving me 4 weeks to remove my 82-year-old dad from the home, saying she felt she could not manage the family's needs. Only 1 of our complaints is actually recorded in the complaints book available for the visitors to see.

Expert care was given to my mother especially at the end of her life. Staff very friendly and caring. No use of agency staff. The manager knows her job well and supported me and my family from the day my mum was admitted into Stansfield Hall.
What was nice to see was that the manager supported the
care staff and the residents seemed to love talking to her.
I believe she has turned the home around over the last couple of years and what a good job she has done raising the standard of care and the environment making a homely place to live. I thank you and l know I made the right choice placing my mum in her care.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.067)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.067) out of 10 for Stansfield Hall Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.783 for Stansfield Hall Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (39 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 46 Ratings = 4.783

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.284 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Stansfield Hall Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 22 registered maximum number of service users is 4.4. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.4 = 0.909

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
