The team also take great pride in keeping the garden looking beautiful with flowers that bloom throughout the year and a vegetable patch, which residents often help to tend to.

Mum has nothing but praise for the care staff. She is comfortable in her room. She enjoys her food and the companionship of others. The home has a lovely homely and welcoming feel. There is a good range of entertainment of the care staff spend time with the residents on a 1:1 basis when they can.

Care provider over the last six years has been good and staff work hard to meet needs of residents. Staff turnover has been relatively low which has enabled staff to get to know residents and respond to them as individuals, which is important. Needs of residents have risen considerably over the last
six years (due to people staying at home longer before entering care) and this has impacted on staff and residents, ideally staffing ratios need increasing! The home are supportive of residents and their families and are happy to discuss any concerns. The home is bright and well presented but care provided is more important although I recognise that presentation is positive factor in attracting new residents!

I would like to say how impressed with the care and support the staff have given to mum since she has been in their care. The care has been personal and sincere. This has made a difference as a member of the family we know that she has been in good hands at this very sad time.

My mother has lived at Appleton Lodge for three years now. Since choosing this home which was a very difficult choice after viewing many at the time, I have not been disappointed. The home is very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The reassurance from the staff is amazing at times when the
resident and family need support. This care home is very happy and the residents are very happy. The new manager is transforming the place all the time and meeting the residents needs. I would have no problem recommending this home and would like to say Thank you.

Kay Eadsforth

Job Title: Home Manager

“I believe that kind of care means treating people just as you would like to be treated and doing what you can to make a difference in their life.”


Kay has gained many years’ experience in providing care and support to older people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and committed leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked for the company for several years, Kay closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident.


She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Appleton Lodge.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Kay remarked: “I just love spending time with our Residents and being able to improve the
quality of their lives.”


Away from work, Kay enjoys reading and spending quality time with her family.
