My dad has been Bamford Close since mid-January and I have always been struck by the openness and friendly welcome from the staff. During the COVID crisis, they have worked extremely hard to keep everyone informed. I have been very impressed with the clarity of information regarding the way in which
family can now visit in safe ways.

My Aunt has been at Bamford Close for nearly 4 years and during that time I have had no reason to fault the care given by all the staff. They take great care to keep her looking lovely and there is no doubt she is very happy and settled when I leave her after a visit. I have no worries as they look
after her so well.
Her room is always very clean and tidy.
Finding a place at Bamford close has been the nest we could wish for.

I find Bamford Close like a small family, staff and relatives alike. Staff know your name as soon as they see other patients families talk with each other.
You can approach them with any issue you have at all times. Very welcoming place and not too big!

The carers and senior staff care for the residents as if they are part of their family. I really couldn't do a better job myself. I completely trust every member of staff to give the best care to my mum. They are kind, considerate and keep me updated with any issues I should be aware of.
The building
is split into four smaller lounges and is clean and very well maintained with new ideas for the residents continually being introduced. They have a hairdresser, regular visits from a podiatrist and fantastic food with a choice of mains at mealtime.
My mum is very happy here which also makes me happy.

All staff caring and friendly, often beyond the job (the extra mile). My husband is safe, well looked after and cared about. I could not ask for more and I express these thoughts to people wherever I go if I am asked.

During my visit to Bamford Close, it was clear from an early stage how caring the staff are. The home is well presented and staff are passionate about creating themed sensory areas. Staff never seemed rushed with people who live there and were patient. The staff have a great understanding of dementia
and are reassuring to residents. There are a variety of activities on offer and people are supported to regularly enjoy trips out. It was refreshing to see how hands on the management team are and the good rapport they have with staff and residents alike.

Mum is happy most of the time, however, the lounge can sometimes be tense and noisy and this does upset her and make her anxious. She enjoys activities but sometimes the activities advertised don't happen. I've heard some residents and visitors complain about the food but I've never seen it and mum
can't remember what she's eaten so has no complaint, she's put weight on though so she gets plenty. I like that the staff don't change all the time.

This isn’t the first care home my grandmother has been to but it’s without a doubt the best. We are so happy with the care and love my grandmother receives at Bamford Close. She is treated with such care and dignity. She has been there for 6 months and you can tell the staff genuinely care about her.
We as a family, are always made to feel welcome. The place has a lovely community feel. I can not recommend this place enough.

Mum entered the home in November 2014. The staff are excellent. Food really good. Everyone makes you feel welcome whenever you visit your relative. Relatives are allowed to make a drink for themselves and not like other homes I have been into where the atmosphere is not friendly like Bamford Close.
The only negative was the decor and chairs, but this has been rectified in the last couple of weeks. The gardens need a little TLC for summer. They are kept mowed and weeded but need some flowers etc so the residents can see them.

The very elderly lady when I visit is always well cared for and has definitely improved since going to live in Bamford Close. I also have a friend (in her 60's) who lives there and she certainly has good care (although her finger nails aren't always clean). There has only been 1 member of staff who
I thought was rather negative with people.

What impressed us about Bamford Close was the genuine desire to provide the best emotional and physical support for the residents. Mum is settled and well looked after and I feel confident to raise concerns in the knowledge they will be dealt with quickly and professionally. Bamford Close is well equipped
and able to deal with a wide range of physical needs and manage risks in a number of ways (chair sensors, floor sensors, crash mats) There are no stairs and they have an accessible garden which is lovely in the summer.

I was reluctant at first when my mother entered Bamford Close, as I had hoped she would be able to continue living at home where she was familiar with her surroundings. But she had stopped wanting to be active, something she had always been. At the great age of 94 years old, she could no longer do things
for herself. She has now been living at Bamford for three months and she has become much more active, using her walking frame to get around. She's very much enjoying her food again and having her hair done every week by the visiting hairdresser. She is taking much more interest in her appearance, asking for her earrings and lipstick. I am now very happy with the way my dear mum is progressing and long may it last. We are about to celebrate her 95th birthday and having a party for her at Bamford Close.

Mum has been a resident at Bamford Close for five years. Mum used to go to day care there which she really enjoyed so it wasn't such a hard move for her when she had to have care at the time. There seemed to be a lot of activities going on. The food was good, staff were great over the years, the atmosphere
has changed there does not seem to be as much entertainment etc. as there used to be. I am a firm believer that music is an important way and means of connecting with the people suffering with Alzheimer's. When I take my ipad to Bamford Close and play music from the 1930/1940's the ladies seem to join in and love it. (Also hymns) There also seems to be less staff, (more agency staff) than there used to be.

Deborah Whitworth has been a Care Home Manager for over 10 years and has worked at Borough Care since November 2021. Deborah started off as a Care Assistant 30 years ago and worked her way to Senior Care, Team Leader, and Nurse Aid before becoming a Manager in 2010. She loves working in care because she likes to make a difference in residents’ lives and ensure they are happy and cared for. Deborah has an open-door policy and will always make time to speak to our lovely families about their loved ones.
