Set in a desirable residential road in Stockport, Peel Moat Care Home is very much a residential home with local popular appeal. Residents have often lived locally and know that they are only just a stone’s throw from the local shops and churches.

At Peel Moat Care Home, there are two lounges and dining room on the ground floor which are used for activities, such as armchair exercises and flower arranging, or just reading the newspaper! Many bedrooms have en-suites and are decorated to a high standard. Of course, residents can bring their own items of furniture and ornaments to really make their rooms reflect their own taste and choices.

Every resident has an individually tailored care plan to ensure that all care and support issues are met by the dedicated care team, but the care delivered does much to support independence, individual choice and dignity.

Residents are supported to carry on being involved with friends, families, churches and clubs while having all of the struggles of running a home taken care of. Opportunities to make friends, join in organised activities and dine to an excellent standard are on offer daily.

The quality of the home cooked food and a varied menu are often commented on at the home and do much to keep residents happy and assist their wellbeing.

Mum has been very happy and contented with her residency at Peel Moat. The staff and management have shown nothing but kindness, good advice and understanding to her and our family. For her four year stay, we have found the standard of care to be very good.

Our mother has now been a resident for six months and has settled in well. All the staff are very welcoming and caring and her likes and dislikes are recognised and catered for. The endless cups of tea make her very happy and our family are all happy with the care that they provide.

It has been lovely being able to see mum on a more regular basis now restrictions around Covid are relaxed - that said the wonderful team at Peel Moat Care Home are still very diligent in the battle against Covid. Could not ask for anything more from everyone who looks after mum. She has not been in
the best of health this past month and everyone has been "there" for her and she is now found more of herself. My thanks to you all - happy daughter.

Generally, the staff seemed kind and compassionate. My mum's room was fairly standard but could have been cleaner. I had to bring an issue to the manager's attention which was addressed immediately. The home needs some general maintenance, the outside looks shabby. So overall, my mum had adequate care
but there is room for improvement.

The lift has been out of action for three out of the four weeks that my Mum has been in the care home meaning no visitors as she can't come downstairs.
She telephoned me one Sunday morning at 11.35 am to advise that she was still undressed and had not been attended to.
When telephoning to arrange
an appointment you can never get anyone to answer the phone. Last evening, I attempted to drop off some essentials for my mum but no one came to the door so after thirty minutes I had to leave.
My Mum asks for a cup of tea and gets told she can't have one.
One evening my Mum was still sat in her chair at 9.25 pm waiting for someone to come and help her get to bed. She had been in the chair all day. It was clear that there were no staff on her floor at all and all the residents on that floor were left to fend for themselves. The zimmer frame had been left on the other side of my Mum's room so she couldn't even attempt to get up herself to use toileting facilities etc.

Staff are caring and treat residents as individuals. I'm so glad they have employed an Activities Coordinator, the activities carried out are fun and everyone included not just residents that are able to respond fully. Clean and nicely decorated. The garden has had a makeover and is more accessible
and is maintained.

Generally satisfied although have felt they have been slow to react over the pandemic, eg. garden visits. The home is in need of some repair and renovation. Staff are very helpful.

My mother has been a resident of Peel Moat since January 2021. During this time I have seen her a few times due to Covid restrictions but she does seem to be generally well settled and happy here. Staff respond promptly to my calls and emails and my mother is mostly in good spirits. It will be lovely
when we can finally meet properly again and I can see her room and hug!

My mother was admitted to Peel Moat Care Home one month before the first lockdown. I was impressed with the care she received, help to settle and warmth of staff relationships. It is difficult to comment in any detail over the last 12 months due to no contact in the home. However, staff have worked
hard and done their best to keep me and the family informed. Care appears to be good.

Mum came into Peel Moat following a two-month hospital stay. The staff made sure Mum settled in well and were always attentive and treated her with care and dignity. The management team made me and my family at ease as soon as she arrived. The only problem for us was the care home was not near the family
for ease of visiting long term and that is the only reason we moved Mum, so she was nearer to the family. Mum was happy for the time at Peel Moat.

Mum became a resident at Peel Moat on 6th November 2017. She had previously spent a short time in another home.
The rooms vary in style but are all tastefully decorated. Residents are encouraged to introduce personal goods to make the room more like home.
Food is excellent with a varied choice of
meals on the menu daily. No resident is rushed to finish food. Breakfast, dinner and tea plus regular snacks during the day and supper! Clothing is washed daily, ironed and placed in residents wardrobe.
Weekly hairdressing available.
Entertainment – regular events including craft workshop.
There is a great team of carers here. From the management team through to the carers, cleaners, kitchen staff and maintenance.
Any issues in the rooms are quickly addressed.
This is a true team with one aim of giving the best care to our loved ones. There are some lovely and very dedicated people here. Overall this is a lovely home with some true professional caring staff.

My mum has been resident at Peel Moat Care Home for eight months and I could not ask for more caring staff. They have encouraged her to take part in the many activities organised for residents but have been respectful of her wishes on the occasions when she declined. The carers are kind and compassionate
and demonstrate real affection for Mum. She is now unable to leave her bed so requires a lot of help, which is always given with gentleness and love. I and my family visit every day, at various times, and we have found that Mum is well cared for, no matter what time of day we arrive. The food is excellent, plentiful, freshly cooked and well presented, with a good variety of menus. The kitchen staff are prepared to cater for alternative choices if requested. The decor is nice and homely. The porch and ramp to the front door are not easy to negotiate - an upgrade has been promised but has not happened so far. Likewise, the promised upgrade to the garden area has never happened.

I have worked in social care since 2000 and have held senior management roles since 2006. My experiences have been diverse having worked in adult care in the community and residential with dementia, mental health, all disabilities, and complex needs.


My work is my vocation. I believe that everyone is equal and entitled to the best care possible. I am committed and passionate to this ethos and recognise that in my role I can drive change and best practices enabling the best person-centred, high-quality care we all aim for.


My interests include walking my show dogs (Crufts) who have been on Coronation Street. I love cake decorating from wedding cakes to creative birthday cakes. I also love being in my garden. Spending time with my family is very important to me, my children and grandchildren enjoy getting together for a quality fun time, and I foster children as well. Time for them to integrate with our family dynamic which is truly amazing.
