When visiting my friend there was a lovely afternoon singer on. All staff and residents were up dancing and singing, it was a lovely thing to see.
My friend always tells me how lovely and helpful all the staff are and this is seen by myself each time I visit.
I am greeted at the door and the atmosphere
is always so jolly, homely and welcoming.

My mum had a bad fall just a week after she moved into Silverdale, the staff were brilliant looking after her until the ambulance arrived some hours later. She's very happy there, all the staff are great with all the residents, they look after them so well with lots of care.

One of the hardest emotional parts of my life was accepting that my mother had to move to a care home due to her dementia. At the beginning of her time there, it was wonderful to see her making friends and causing mischief for the staff by going into the manager's office and stealing their sweets. Over
the months my mother's condition declined to the point where she lives in her own world not really knowing anyone of her children. It's got to the point where the weekly visits turned into every couple of months, but I know she is being looked after at Silverdale. I have no doubts that they can look after her better than I could have done. It's still hard to visit her and not see the person she was, but she is a happy old woman amongst people who can take care of her very well.

Whenever I visit my mum, she is always dressed neatly and seated together with others in the day room for company, which is beneficial for her. Although she is not very mobile and seated most of the day, the staff continue to get her to walk a little whenever possible, which is good for her well-being.
Her room and the general environment of the care home are always clean and tidy. The atmosphere and background music are also pleasant. She has just had a birthday, and banners had been put up in her room, which was nice. Whenever I call to see how she is, the staff are courteous and helpful. I get updates regarding any health issues and details of activities Mum has joined in with, as well as trips outdoors. It is such a relief to know she is being well cared for.

For several years, my mother has lived in a few care homes. It has been such a stressful time as her needs have been somewhat demanding. For the last couple of years, Mum has been at Silverdale, and from the first day, her care there has been exceptional. Everyone is so supportive, understanding and
considerate towards Mum. Whenever I visit, there is always a carer available to update me about Mum’s care. There is always a friendly, warm, welcome, plus Mum’s room is always spotless. We can relax in the knowledge that Mum is well cared for and feels at home in her own special way.

My mother has been a resident at Silverdale since September 2020, and I have been very impressed with the care given to her since then.
I am sure that my mother is as happy as she can be given her illness and that every member of staff is dedicated to helping all the residents.
She likes all the
food (and cakes) and is never more happy than when singing and dancing to the entertainment put on by the friendly staff.
I would definitely recommend Silverdale to anybody in a similar situation.

My partner always has a smile on her face when I visit. The care staff all seem to know who I am and say hello.
There was an unexpected incident with another resident, and I was kept fully informed, and this was resolved to my satisfaction.
Generally, I am very happy with the care my partner is receiving.

It's a beautiful, clean, smell-free home for my mum with friendly, dedicated and caring staff. My mum is always happy when I see her.

When my father first moved to Silverdale for his dementia, I think he struggled to be in a new environment as he seemed to sleep little during the night and would often be tired during visits. But now he has settled in very well and is often in high spirits when I see him. I really like the staff here;
every single person I've spoken to has been super friendly and always happy to help.

Having had a horrendous experience at a different care home with another family member, we were quite anxious when our dad was offered a place at Silverdale 18 months ago due to worsening Alzheimer's. Well, the experience couldn't be any more different. From the first day, Dad was treated with respect,
dignity and understanding. The staff, from the management down to the cleaning staff, are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The rooms and social areas are bright, cheerful and homely. There are rooms where you can always hear laughter and music, but also places of calm and quiet. Unfortunately, Dad has recently been diagnosed with Cancer and has had some difficulties, but the staff have been very supportive. We really didn't want to put Dad into a care home, but we are so grateful that he is very happy there. It has taken a weight off our shoulders, knowing that for the last part of his life, he is in a place where he is cared for whilst letting him be himself. Highly Recommended.

Direct care is fabulous, but the admin and communications could be improved. Staff are approachable and knowledgeable. Food always looks appetising, and the home is always at a nice temperature. Activities organised are plentiful and varied.

My husband is very happy in Silverdale. The staff are all very caring. The atmosphere is so very friendly. It is like one big happy family. I know he is being well looked after by all the wonderful staff, so I have no worries about him. I am always welcomed when I visit, and there is always somewhere
to sit in one of the many lounges where we can be on our own. In the summertime, we can go to the garden and enjoy the sunshine. Thank you, everyone, at Silverdale, for making my husband's last years so happy.

This time last year, my friend was on ‘end of life care‘, and it was thought she may not see Christmas. I was told by medical staff to prepare for the worst. I was comforted to know she was at Silverdale, where I knew she would receive the best possible care. Now, here we are, a year on, and not only
has she enjoyed another Christmas, but is happy and content. It is a pleasure to visit her and how she smiles and enjoys all the attention she receives from the staff. Having looked around several care homes to be ready for the day when my father, with Alzheimer's, needed care, Silverdale seemed streets ahead for their care and cost. In the end, my father became a resident suddenly following a fall with a bang to the head and a short stay in the hospital. At what
was a stressful time for us both, Silverdale proved exceptional in their care. From understanding my father's needs, letting us prepare his room, welcoming him in, and making him feel at home, he has quickly settled in. Their wisdom in letting me know how best to support him/visit was exceptional. Every member of staff from the cleaners to the manager/admin, goes above and beyond to assist. Everyone is known by name. Everyone is recognised. Everyone is valued. Support is tailored and reviewed. There are multiple lounges, a cinema room and a hairdresser. The activities are already wonderfully engaging. Both my father and I feel supported and safe. That cannot be underestimated. Thank you, team Silverdale!

Jade

Jade Martin

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2020

Jade Martin has worked at Borough Care since 2010 and has been the Home Manager at Silverdale since 2020. Since she was a baby, Jade has been around a care home environment due to her mum also being a previous Manager for Borough care. Jade loved seeing the way staff interacted with the residents and the bond they had. She became passionate about care and that’s where her story started.

Jade says the team at Silverdale is special because no matter the situation they always pull together to make every day the best it can be for our residents, adding 'the team at Silverdale always create new innovative themed days which all the team will join in to ensure residents are living life in colour each day.'


Jade's favourite thing about the residents is: that no two days are the same, there is always something to laugh and smile about every single day.


Jade says that visitors to Silverdale should expect a lively, friendly atmosphere with music always playing, and welcoming, and happy staff who are always willing to help and go the extra mile.

Lindsay is our amazing ALF at Silverdale. When she was a young girl, she visited a care home with her school and loved sitting and chatting with everyone. At college, she was stuck as to what she wanted to do and then saw a job in a care home. 29 years later she still absolutely cherishes her job. She says 'The smile on our residents' faces each day when I come into work makes everything worthwhile.'
