I am delighted with how well my mum has made the huge lifestyle change of moving into a care home where she is settled, happy and safe. This is undoubtedly due to the personal care and attention given to her by the wonderful staff at Auden House, for whom nothing is too much trouble.

Auden House is not state of the art. It isn't ultra modern and full of technology. It is though very homely with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The staff are kind, attentive, and very approachable. Enormous effort is put in to stimulate and entertain the residents. Friends and family are always made extremely
welcome and are given any help or support needed. Thank goodness we were recommended Auden House for Mum's care.

Auden House care for my father and was above and beyond care of duty, the girls all spoke to my father like they really cared and I believe they did.
His room was comfortable, warm and clean and they kept my father clean at all times. They made sure he didn't feel lonely and took genuine interest in
him and also myself and the rest of the family. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home above any others. This home gives reassurance to loved ones.

My dad moved into Auden House about 3 and a half years ago. He went into residential care because of physical needs and was needing extra help and support. This was due to several falls at home and Auden House could offer this support. My dad has settled in very well. Not only is he now safe, but he
has regular company as well, which he didn't get living alone in his flat. He enjoys life and loves going out with family, which we are still able to do. It was becoming a huge worry that he might fall when alone, but I don't have to worry as much now, knowing that my dad is safe day and night. All the staff are excellent carer's, really friendly, approachable and very helpful. They do lots of activities and events throughout the year to make residents stay more enjoyable, I also love these events. I have recently recommended Auden House to friends and I am always praising their work. I wouldn't have my dad anywhere else and I am so grateful for all the hard work they put in with my precious dad.

My father was a resident at this care home. The care he got was fantastic. The people I met there were so helpful and so professional, I could not have asked for more. I am sure my dad was so grateful to Auden House for his care.
I would recommend Auden House for care to other people.

The service and care given to my Father in his final time with Auden House was excellent. They gave him the care and attention needed which made his final time comfortable and dignified. And most importantly it was a great help to all his family, as we had all shared the responsibility between us until
the time had come to place him in care where he could receive the appropriate attention.
I have no hesitation in recommending Auden House for any persons needing good and excellent care.

The staff at Auden House are extremely helpful and very friendly. Great care has been taken to ensure my mother is comfortable at all times. Meals are excellent with plenty of variety. We were very reluctant to place our mother in any home but we now think we have chosen the best home in Tameside.

My Mum has been in Auden House for a year this month. She is in the best physical condition she has been for years. She receives her medication on time every day and is eating regular well-balanced meals, both of which have had a beneficial effect on her well-being. Her stamina has increased markedly
and she is able to get about on her wheeled frame.
She enjoys having her hair done and the regular visits from the chiropodist and the visit from the optician means her needs are well catered for.
Arts and crafts have been an important part of Mum's life and Auden House makes time for these activities, with visits to the theatre and in-house events.
The staff are well trained, attentive, professional and most importantly kind. I know my Mum is in the best place for her and would have no hesitation in recommending Auden House to anyone considering residential care for themselves or a loved one.

I had to find a care home for Mum in 2012 due to her health deteriorating. The best compliment I can pay is that I have always felt, as an only child, I had gained a group of “Big Sisters” at Auden House who were happy to share the responsibilities of making Mum happy, content and being there for her
when needed.

Auden House's quality, for me, comes down to “Capability & Vocation”. Perhaps two examples will illustrate this. Two years ago one of the Senior Staff greeted me with the words “I don’t like how your Mum looks today”. As it turned out she had a bad infection that needed hospital treatment; because it was caught early, by one of my “Big Sisters”, she recovered and was soon fit again. Regarding vocation one massive issue stands out for me. When residents have to be hospitalised, staff visit them to make sure that they are OK and do not feel forgotten. There are also “Little Sisters” at Auden House !!

I hope that you and your relatives are as lucky as Mum and I have been.

My Aunt recently passed away. But she was in Auden House for 2 1/2 years. From the first day, me and my husband went to view Auden House we just knew this was the place for my Auntie. Warm welcome from the Manager and the lovely smell of home cooked food. They even grow some veg in the garden. She
had dementia and needed love and understanding. Everyone of the staff care about their residents. She was well looked after and loved by everyone even though she could be difficult at times. She needed pureed meals and her every food need was met. They have some very good events and all the staff take part and the residents really love the entertainment. We were very blessed recently when she went into the hospital and some of the staff visited her and even came to her funeral. Love in action. Thank you to everyone of the team there. They are all amazing.

The best thing we ever did for mum was to place her at Audenshaw House. She has dementia and was very depressed where she lived before, now she's like a different person, yes she has her good days and bad days but overall she seems really happy, she likes to sing and she's always making the staff and
other visitors laugh with her songs. The staff here are fantastic, they care about the residents and treat them like human beings, not like some places. They do crafts with them and play bingo and take them on trips and the staff even though sometimes really busy always have time for relatives and friends if they are concerned about anything. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Auden House to anyone.

My mum moved into Auden House almost 12 months ago due to having Alzheimers and needed 24-hour care. My husband and I visited several care homes and Auden House stood out by far from the rest.
My mum is cared for with warmth, respect and dignity. The staff are dedicated, caring professionals.
The
choice of food is excellent some of which is made from home grown produce. The house is always clean and the bedrooms are bright and modern.
My mum is still physically fit for her years and enjoys going out twice a week on outings with me, but is always happy to go home to her extended family at Auden House.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to the Manager, staff and all their wonderful team of carers.

My mother has now been a resident at Auden House for 18 months. During this time she has received the very best of care from all the staff. Considering the state of her health when she moved in after having a nasty fall and two subsequent operations she is now in as well as she was 5 years ago. Her
diet has improved markedly, so much so that we have had to purchase some larger clothes for her. The staff appreciate the problems that she has with her mobility and dementia and are very supportive, even putting up with her quite outspoken manner at times. Auden House is always spotlessly clean and has ample staff to cope with the needs of all their residents. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to any of our friends if they had elderly relatives who had to go into care.

Since being admitted to Auden House (1 month) my Mother has settled extremely well. The Home provides an extremely high standard of care and the staff are excellent, and will always go that extra mile. The residents are treated with dignity and respect in a safe environment, visitors are always welcomed
and I personally feel that Mum is very fortunate to be cared for in this establishment. I would highly recommend this care provider (it was recommended to us by someone whose own Mother is a resident).

My musician colleague from the Manchester Camerata and I worked at Auden House for 15 weeks this summer, holding music therapy sessions there on a Wednesday morning.
We found Auden House to be a warm and friendly place with a homely atmosphere. The care of the residents is at the heart of everything
the staff do and hugs are given freely.
The garden is a very special asset not just for beauty but also for growing fruit and veg.
Congratulations on your well deserved top rating!

Auden House is an excellent care home, it is a true home for the residents who live there. From the first moment I visited I knew this was where I wanted my aunt to live. The staff are extremely caring and compassionate and are always engaging with the residents. It is clear to me from the owners the
manager to the staff they are all extremely dedicated and caring people. If only every residential care home was like Auden House. What more can I say.

My uncle had a stroke in November 2015 which hospitalised him until Christmas eve when he was discharged. He was moved to a care home and the care in that particular home was absolutely terrible we were really unhappy with the place when we decided to look for another home. Auden House was recommended
to us. This home is amazing, the staff are wonderful and cater for my uncle's needs at all times. I would definitely recommend Auden House to anyone who is looking for care for a relative/friend you will not be disappointed.

My mum has been a resident of Auden House for 2 months now and has settled very well. This is due mainly to the care and support of the staff, which has been excellent from day one.

When it was no longer viable for my mum to remain in her own home (with support from carers and myself) and she needed

24-hour care and support for her safety and well-being, I visited Auden House with my husband to see if it would be the right place for my mum. We had not made an appointment to visit but were made to feel very welcome. We were shown around and given all the relevant information. By chance, we also spoke to one of the residents who spoke openly and honestly about the good care and support she receives at Auden House and suggested to us that mum would be happy there. The manager made a home visit to meet my mum and me the following day, and she made my mum feel relaxed and brought out my mum’s sense of humour. I knew Auden House was the right place for my mum.

All the staff treat my mum and the other residents with care, respect and dignity. They treat each of the residents as individuals, and aim to bring out their individual personalities. They do various activities with the residents and encourage them to join in.

Auden House has an ‘open door’ policy, which means family and friends can visit any time. It is like a second home for my mum and the staff and residents are like my mum’s second family. Auden House is relatively small compared to other care homes, which gives it a feeling of homeliness and being more personal. I am really happy for my mum (and myself) that she is staying at Auden House. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a care home for their loved one. My mum seems more happy and content. I also want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all the staff for their ongoing care and support.

My mother-in-law has is a fairly new resident (since Aug 12, 2015 to present). Totally impressed straight from the beginning! Called in Auden House (without an appointment) to check it out before mother-in-law became a resident. My wife and I and were welcomed by staff who showed us around and gave
excellent information. Had a chat to one of the residents on that visit who spoke highly of the staff and the care she was receiving.

On the basis of that visit my wife made arrangements, through the manager, for her mother to become a resident. We have visited every day since she has been there and never failed to be impressed with the care, the food, the cleanliness, the respect of people's dignity and the overall atmosphere of the place. The staff are always welcoming and friendly and clearly have excellent relationships with the residents (including my mother-in-law). As well as the staff, the owners and the manager are all brilliant.

My perceptions of care homes has completely changed since being involved with Auden House. It's a brilliant example of how older people should be treated but often aren't. Highly recommended!

Current Review Score: 9.0 (9.021)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (9.021) out of 10 for Auden House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.813 for Auden House is calculated as follows: ( (39 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.813

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.208 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Auden House is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.8 = 0.833

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
