The staff at Sandon House are just wonderful! Kind, considerate, respectful and patient. Everyone really cares about the residents and it shows. The staff work so hard but are always compassionate and attentive. Thank you! You are all real life angels.

Mum has been a temporary resident since February 2023. She has been welcomed by staff and residents, is well looked after and seems happy in herself. The food always looks really good, and they have a choice each mealtime.
The only thing that is negative is that residents go into other residents'
rooms and take things, but I don't suppose that can be helped. The staff always locate things when they know.

The heating was turned down before Christmas and is still too low for vulnerable people to be sat in all day. I know blankets have been distributed, albeit crocheted ones. Residents are rubbing their arms to get warm. One resident even asked me to report the home because they were cold. I am repeatedly
requesting my mother have socks, slippers and extra clothing above the waist to keep her warm. Even I kept my jacket on in the lounge on my last visit.

First look at Sandon was a warm and friendly atmosphere. Felt safe and very well looked after. Rooms are comfortable and very clean. Nightly checks to make sure I was ok. Reaction to the call button was never long, and always glad to help regardless of what time it was. The food was very nice, variety
and happy to make something if main meals not wanted. Dining and TV room comfortable and social. Quiet room for reading.

On the original visit, we were escorted, shown around and introduced to the staff, then asked/allowed to freely walk around. This highlighted nothing to hide. Once in residence, the patience, respect and dignity of all residents were unconditional and caring from all the staff. Made our family at ease
and happy in the emotional, heartbreaking decision to put Mum in care. Only wish we had done it sooner. Apologise

After viewing a number of care homes in the local area, Sandon House was recommended. We visited and were shown around, and first impressions were how friendly the staff were and how happy the residents seemed. We met the activities coordinator and were impressed by the range of activities for all abilities.
The home is very clean, bright and well-maintained. As soon as Mum arrived, she said she felt at home! Although only a temporary respite visit, she was made to feel welcome and, more importantly, cared for and cared about. Would definitely recommend this care home and will be booking Mum in again for respite when needed. Thank you to everyone who made her stay there so wonderful - it was a joy to see her so happy!

My mother has only been in Sandon House just short of two weeks from moving from a previous care home where the level of care towards my mum left a lot to be desired from her being left in her room daily to being not allowed to walk and confined to a wheelchair. Since my mum has been at Sandon, she
has never been left in her room, is interacting with others and is now walking - the difference in two weeks is absolutely amazing. Also, the staff are very warm, welcoming and caring and are always on hand to help with anything and keep us regularly updated on Mum's wellbeing. We have been made to feel so at ease now Mum is in the best place she could ever be. The whole of the staff should be proud of themselves and a great credit to the care system. I would highly recommend Sandon House for the care of anyone's loved one.

My mum has been a resident of Sandon House for almost 12 months, during which time her dementia has progressed rapidly.
Unfortunately, I do not live locally, so in between visits, I depend heavily on the information and support I receive from the staff. There has never been a time when staff have not
been able to give me accurate and useful information over the phone, and this has been invaluable.
I am always touched by the genuine care and affection the staff have for my mum and for other residents too.
In spite of her restricted diet, the kitchen produces hot and tasty meals for her every day with additional supplements to help her maintain her health as much as possible.
Rooms are small but functional and always clean, and so are the lounges. The bedding is clean, but fitted sheets would give more comfort.
Personal clothes can get lost and often shrink in tumble driers, but with so many residents, they do well.
No one wants a relative in a care home, but if necessary, you couldn't do better.

Put my mother-in-law in Sandon House in May. My mistake, her basic care needs have not been met in my opinion. She has bad bruises which I never new about until she went to A&E. More and more falls, 2 unwitnessed. Fell at 3 am in the lounge, got a voicemail at 4.30 am, got up for work, listened to voicemail
at 7 am got to home at 7.45 am. She was on the floor in the middle of the corridor where she had been since 3 am, freezing cold. No one thought to get her a blanket, basic common sense to me. She had already broken her arm 4 weeks prior and now broken ribs too. Staff was not clear on painkillers given when paramedics arrived 6 hrs later, having rang them myself again they were there within 20 minutes. During her time at Sandon House, I witnessed lots of residents falling out of chairs and staff ignoring them. In my opinion, the manageress seems uninterested about the concerns raised. The social worker has been excellent with safeguarding issues and is following up on 4 issues. She is not going back there again.

Both of our parents have been residents at Sandon House. They initially arrived for respite in December 2020 during the difficult Covid time. We can honestly say that from the minute they arrived, we knew that they would be cared for in the same way we would care for them. They both became full-time
residents soon after. We had so much support from all of the staff whilst we were not able to visit them due to the restrictions in place. Once we could finally visit them, we understood why both Mum and Dad were so happy and settled as it was just like home from home for them. Sadly we have recently lost our dad, and the love and compassion we received from all have been amazing. Mum has dementia, but we don't need to worry that she is now there on her own as she has all the amazing staff around her. We now consider all at Sandon House as our extended family and will always be truly grateful not only for how they have looked after Mum and Dad but for also all the support that we have received.

The level of care, commitment and dedication shown to my stepfather was both exemplary and outstanding. Throughout his five months at Sandon House, I was informed of changing circumstances and received proportionate advice. All members of staff from management to cleaners and site staff I would want
to include in this. I was fortunate to be at the home when my stepfather died; the care staff that night were incredibly considerate and caring. I highly recommend Sandon House.

Three hundred cheers for the staff at Sandon House. My 93-year-old dad has been a resident since July 2018. Due to Covid19, visitors haven't been allowed since the end of Feb '20 so missing dad a lot. This is my second glowing review about Sandon House and the staff there. Dealing with Covid19 and a
community of elderly health-challenged individuals is a heroic task in normal times. Yet they've remained so positive in these truly dreadful months. (Everyone is routing for you all - Heroes all of you). I would love to help and have offered (but my hubby is 80 and has COPD so grounded for 12 weeks and I have to shield him) But Sandon House and its staff prevail with their caring, professional and friendly approach which I'm sure will continue during these testing times. Hip Hip Hooray for Sandon House staff, keep up the good work along with your chins.

Home Manager at Sandon House, Mossley


What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“I believe that kind care means showing that each job is just as important as the one before and always having a smile for people.”


Lynne has gained a number of years’ experience in providing care and support to older people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Lynne joined Sandon House as Home Manager as she closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Sandon House.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Lynne remarked: “I just love it when the Residents make me smile.”


Away from work, Lynne enjoys a wide range of pastimes including competing across the UK in a brass band and watching Manchester City Women’s football team.
