The care so far has been 2nd to none. They can't do enough for my mum. Going above and beyond. It's been a very difficult time and the reassurance from the staff has been exemplary.

Very wellcoming atmosphere. Happy staff that go above and beyond to help. The Sycamore is clean and tidy with a lovely view, bird boxes encourage local wildlife. Overall a very enjoyable experience.

Staff are extremely professional, caring and considerate. They treat residents like a member of their own family. Also support family of the residents. Nothing is too much for the team at The Sycamores Newton. Always there with a smile, a hug and helpful information. My mother is cared for in the most
brilliant way, all her needs are looked after. The food is terrific, five stars. My overall opinion is absolutely fantastic I would recommend far and wide.

Mum seems happy and content which is the most important thing for me and her. She is cared for well and has good connections with specific members of staff who she responds to although all staff are good to her. All in all a quality home with good care.

I would just like to thank all staff, carers, seniors, cleaners, just everybody! My mum has dementia and has been in hospital, when I said about going home. The only one she could remember is the cleaner, if I said his name, oh yes lovely lad she said, he talks to me about his mum and dad. So thank

I would highly recommend The Sycamores Care Home to anyone looking to place a loved one into care. Senior care staff kept us informed of Mum's general health, any eating issues, if anything changed, any changes in medication that needed to be discussed with the GP. Even down to Mum having a blister
on her hand, we were advised and treatment given. Staff treat the residents with respect, they know that the residents were all, at one time, vibrant people who had careers, families and had achieved/done wonderful things in their younger days. This is a demanding role and long hours, and staff are looking after our loved ones as we as a family are unable to do ourselves. As a family, we are very grateful for the care and attention the staff at The Sycamores have shown our mum during her time there.

My mum has said that the staff here can't do enough for her and bend over backwards for her. The only negative is the choice of doctor or pharmacy because it takes so long to get medication that has been prescribed.

Been to see my mum 4 times this week. I went last Sunday, Tuesday Friday and again Sunday 10 Sept 23. The room was dirty, with tissue on the floor and behind the TV, her photo had been knocked to the floor no one picked them up. I asked someone why has her room not been cleaned, It's been a week and
I have had to clear the mess and tissues that have been there for one week. If I hadn't cleaned the room when would it have been done? I was told to send an email which I have.
I am not happy about the cleanliness of the room, not the first time this has happened, even her dirty underwear on the floor.

Discussion with senior staff to ensure that the needs of my mother continue to be met. Dementia has resulted in greater inability for her to express her needs. The knowledge of staff who have frequent and regular contact with her is vital, along with robust procedures that ensure she is happy and comfortable.

My mum has been at the home since the beginning of January. I can say my mum has been looked after really well. She has gained weight and has settled in very quickly. She always looks good when I visit and I can tell she is nice and clean. The staff are all very pleasant and professional, they are always

What does kindness mean to you?

As a dedicated Home Manager, Joanne has gained many years experience in providing care and support for older people to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest possible standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Joanne shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She uses her experience to motivate her team to deliver care and support in a way that Residents gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Joanne remarked:


“Making a difference.”


Outside of work, Joanne enjoys spending time with her family, she has a one-year-old grandson who she says, “Has turned my world upside down, for the better.”


Joanne describes her biggest achievement in life was studying and qualifying as a nurse whilst being a single parent.
