Comfortable, friendly atmosphere. My mum settled in straight away. She seems to be a lot less stressed. Staff are all very helpful. This is the second stay for my mum. I wouldn't hesitate in bringing her again. It puts my dad's mind at rest, knowing she is comfortable and being well looked after.

My review of The Sycamores is very good. My mother was taken care great of especially by the staff on the upper floor. The care assistant treated my mother like a daughter would looking after their mum, she is a credit to the Sycamores.

Mum was a little apprehensive about going into a care home for respite but soon felt at home by the welcome she received. Everybody was so lovely to her. It has really helped her to recover quickly as we have all be worried about her falling frequently. But whilst in there she had no falls and feels
much better. Thank you to all the staff working at The Sycamores.

Due to an unfortunate explosion, it left my uncle homeless. The Sycamores have been amazing not only did they give him somewhere to stay the same day the staff are amazing with him and give him the freedom he needs for his independence.

Recommended by my local charity, my wife came here after hip surgery and on advice from a professor at the hospital. We the family were pleasantly surprised at the staff (very helpful) and accommodation plus food. My wife is coming home a lot healthier and is more aware of her surroundings, she has

The length of time my aunt was in The Sycamores she was very happy and very well cared for up to her having her accident they did all they could for her.

My Mother in Law was adamant she was not going into care. Once she arrived she soon settled in and much to our amazement she seemed happier than she has been for a long time. She now calls the Sycamores home. Result. Overall she and ourselves are very satisfied that the Sycamores and the staff, especially
one has gone the extra mile. Thank you all.

My Mum was in Sycamores for a short period of time. She died due to vascular dementia earlier than expected. During her time at Sycamores she was well looked after and we, her family, were all made welcome In the days leading up to her death she was very well cared for. Two outstanding carers went above
and beyond their role. We stayed 24 hours a day with Mum during the last days and staff were caring, welcoming and understanding. The Scyamores did everything possible to make Mums last days comfortable.

I have been visiting my brother-in-law on a regular basis. On arrival I am greeted by a the manager or a member of staff, whoever it is they always introduce themselves to me. Having had a relative previously in the home, the conditions, the care and the one to one care are second to none and have greatly
improved from my previous experience. My brother-in-law and my sister are well looked after. The staff are friendly and considerate and treat both residents and their families as individuals in the family circle.

Following the changes made to my husbands care plan and not discussed with me I visited The Sycamores to try to change day care to them so I could cope better. On arrival the staff on duty saw I was in a very distressed state of mind they helped me a great deal, arranged a social worker to visit me.
Following this my husband was admitted for respite care, all the staff have been so wonderful to him looking after him with dignity and respect. Having previously visited people at The Sycamores and not been impressed the manager and her staff should be congratulated for all the improvements they have made to make it a good care home.

I am very impressed with The Sycamores. My daughter in law and I thought when we came to have a look around the manager was very friendly and a lovely atmosphere. My husband comes into The Sycamores for short stay, I feel confident that the manager and her staff are looking after him.

What does kindness mean to you?


“Treating people with respect and compassion. Always being empathetic and making the care delivered personal and individual to the Residents’ needs.”


As a dedicated Home Manager, Joanne has gained many years experience in providing care and support for older people to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest possible standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Joanne shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She uses her experience to motivate her team to deliver care and support in a way that Residents gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Joanne remarked:


“Making a difference.”


Outside of work, Joanne enjoys spending time with her family, she has a one-year-old grandson who she says, “Has turned my world upside down, for the better.”


Joanne describes her biggest achievement in life was studying and qualifying as a nurse whilst being a single parent.
