The Cedars Rest Home is situated in an acre of maintained grounds and is within the leafy Bowdon conservation area near Altrincham. The home enjoys panoramic views of the Cheshire Plain. The property, formerly a 4 storey early Victorian family house, was converted by the current owners to its present usage in 1985. The Cedars is located within walking distance of Hale village and all its amenities including local bus stops, newsagents, and the main Manchester to Chester railway line. Altrincham Town Centre and Metrolink are only a 5 minute bus/car ride away. An excellent standard of accommodation combined with a friendly atmosphere and homely environment is offered at The Cedars. Care is offered for Long Term, Respite, Day Care and Convalescent Care. Services offered include, hairdressing, occupational therapy, chiropody, physiotherapy. Mother was a resident of this excellent care home, the staff are caring, compassionate and very responsive to questions/questions posed by me over a 12 month period.
The staff were very supportive and very dedicated during the Covid pandemic, which is a real testament to their professionalism.
I was
so impressed with the care that I recommended the home to a friend, who placed her husband there, she was similarly, very satisfied. I would recommend the home to anyone who needs to have a loved one cared for.

The staff are exceedingly friendly and caring. A lovely welcoming atmosphere and everywhere is clean and bright. The food looked good and fresh. I think I will put my name down for when I need a care home! Thank you for looking after my auntie.

The covid pandemic has had a significant effect on our ability to visit the home. We are now able to visit on a weekly basis and the staff have been keen to facilitate this, especially as we do not live locally. We have been unable to view the room or see the activities on offer due to the ongoing restrictions,
so our ratings of “good” reflect our experience, pre-Covid. The building is quite old and on several different levels which can be problematic for both residents and staff. We find the staff friendly and welcoming. They are clearly doing their best in challenging circumstances and are well qualified to help residents with dementia. We are happy with the standard of care provided and would recommend The Cedars.

I have found all the staff in The Cedars Care Home to be caring and conscientious. After a difficult start with my mother, they managed to show compassion and now she seems much more comfortable. She is always dressed and looks her best. Having experience of respite in other care homes, I am glad we
were able to get her in The Cedars.

My father, who is 94 and has advanced dementia, moved into The Cedars in November 2020, during lockdown. He has been very well looked after. He enjoys all the food and has gained weight after some time of not eating properly. Visits over the last year have been very well organised with weekly PCR tests
and Lateral Flow tests before each visit.


Although Dad is not really aware of his environment any more, he is always calm and content. All the staff are very supportive and caring.

From the time I first contacted The Cedars I was so impressed with the courtesy and helpfulness of every member of staff I met. The building and surrounding grounds were all extremely well presented and the atmosphere in the house was welcoming and calm. I was shown the well-organised kitchens where
the food was freshly cooked, presented attractively and the clients needs and individual care was considered.
We intend to make use of respite care regularly as is it reassuring to know a relative is being well cared for and content.

To explain. I was business director of five care and continuing care hospitals, so I am aware of what elderly people require. The Cedars is wonderful. The manager and her staff provide, in a delightful caring way, all that is required to make those they care for happy. My ethos has always been to give
people care, dignity, love and ensure they are content. These are done effortlessly with the manager at the helm. Her staff are a joy to behold, nothing too much trouble, and is done very professionally.

I can’t rate The Cedars highly enough. My Mum has early-onset Alzheimer's and as such it has been traumatic for her, for myself, and my brother and for our Dad, to put her in a care home. The place and people can either add to this or take from it (we know from prior experience). They are not only providing
wonderful care for Mum, she is treated with consideration, dignity, kindness and attention to detail but also to us, her family; we are always made to feel welcome there, included in her care and feel like part of their family in their modern, beautifully decorated, clean facility. It is impossible to put into words how much all these things help all of us during what is the most harrowing part of our lives as a family. I'd highly recommend the place even if, like us, your loved one isn't 'elderly' - the place is always buzzing and lively and I know Mum doesn't feel 'stuck' in an 'old folks home' as a consequence.

My mum is only 69 and sadly now has advanced Alzheimer’s. It’s been a difficult transition for the whole family on many levels. Mum moved into a residential care home in September having lived with my dad who was struggling to cope. It became apparent that they couldn’t meet her needs. We were unhappy
with the standard of care and how this was communicated as we were made to feel it was her fault and ours. Following a further assessment, mum moved into The Cedars as an EMI residential placement. She didn’t settle immediately but the manageress and the team have been brilliant. Efforts are made to engage mum, maintain her dignity and it’s a huge weight off our mind knowing she is well cared for. Highly recommended in all respects. Even the volunteering programme with the local grammar school is highly impressive. Staff are well trained, appropriately managed, are caring and treat family with respect. Communication is excellent and I cannot speak highly enough of our experience so far.

Friendly staff that make you feel very welcome. You can visit any time and have meals with your relative.

On our visits there I have been delighted with how the staff react to my Aunt and she with them.
I would like to add that in my conversations over the phone that I have found all to be so helpful

Since my dad returned to the UK and moved into The Cedars, he has gone from strength to strength. His appetite is back and he is very content and happy. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at The Cedars. They look after my dad, and all the other residents, so well.


They are always very welcoming

to me when I visit, and I always feel relaxed when I leave as I know he is in good hands


I would recommend The Cedars to anyone who needed to put a loved one into a care home. It’s a great place.
