My mother has been at Chanters for four and a half years. The Manager and the staff have looked after her health and wellbeing to a high standard throughout that time. Though Mum has dementia she has never shown she is unhappy or uncomfortable with the home or staff. During the summer I experienced
a lovely day in the garden with games, activities and a barbecue, enjoyed by staff, residents and families.

My overall impression of this care home is that it is extremely well managed. The staff are very caring and treat residents with compassion and dignity. The choice of food and drink is also good. Overall I can't fault it, all the staff have 'their finger on the button' as you say. Many thumbs up to
them all for caring for my husband so well.

It is a lovely bright and friendly care home, all the staff are friendly and very helpful.
They do a fantastic job looking after the people in the care home and there is always something going on for them from watching TV to listening to music. Sometimes they will get somebody in to entertain them.
Meals
are at set times so this does not confuse the residents and look lovely, also they come round with tea/coffee and biscuits in the afternoon for the residents.
The rooms are lovely with their own private sink and toilet and are always kept clean.
There is a hairdresser that comes in on Tuesday and Wednesday to do their hair which they look forward too.
I am very happy with the service my Aunty is getting here and she is so happy it puts me at ease that she is being looked after properly.

Very professional and very friendly staff from the very first meeting onwards. It was appreciated that the staff all came round to visit and introduce themselves within an hour of arrival. Buildings and rooms are clean and well maintained, security is clear, visible and effective

Mum has now been a resident at The Chanters Care Home since July 2017 and we are more than happy with all the dedication and care she receives from the carers.
I myself stayed and had Sunday lunch yesterday 8/4/18 and I must say was delicious. The quality of meals is very good. Although I find the
sandwiches served are not it as good. Cheese and pickle and piccalilli - personally I feel have far too much of pickle and are a bit repetitive every day (more choice is needed)

Sadly, my Mum has recently passed away and I wanted to share my thoughts on the care my Mum received at The Chanters at the end of her life. I have always been really pleased with the care throughout the 20 months she lived there. However, words cannot describe the care and attention my Mum received
in the final stage of her life. The carers truly are exceptional, they went above and beyond to make sure that my Mum was comfortable and spent time with her, trying to keep her spirits up. They were also amazing in the support they offered us as a family. They were always happy to take a phone call when we were not around, provide reassurance, and listen to any concerns we had about my Mums health. I cannot thank the staff enough and would not hesitate to recommend The Chanters to anyone who is looking for a home for their loved one. The facilities are welcoming, clean and bright, but it is the staff that make this home the excellent facility that it is.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments, I will pass these over to the staff. In a sometimes tough sector, it's always nice to receive positive feedback.

In general, The Chanters is a well-presented care home and the staff and management are very helpful and understanding to the needs of the residents. Food issues are a problem but I know there are ongoing talks to improve and try to accommodate individuals.

I can't praise the staff at Chanters Care Home enough. they made my mum feel at home there, she loved living there. At the end of her life, I was amazed at how much all the staff loved her. As I live away down south, I am grateful for everything that they did for her. A big thank you from all my family.

The care home is very good. The staff are very good. The food could be better but overall good. Nobody should be scared coming into a care home, and when I got here, everyone was good.

My mother has been a resident in the Chanters care home for 10 years. During that time she has been treated with the utmost tender loving care and dignity. The staff are very attentive and supportive. Indeed many of them have been there for a long time. They are very devoted to the residents, in fact,
it is one big happy family. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home.

Dad has settled well at The Chanters and I am very pleased with the care he receives. In the last couple of months he has been referred to physio and is having regular visits to improve his mobility, which seems to be working. He feels well looked after and is benefitting from the attention given
to him, particularly with regard to his skin care. Minor negatives for him are that the food is not always to his liking and lunch is earlier than he would like.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.597)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.597) out of 10 for The Chanters Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.972 for The Chanters Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.972

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.625 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Chanters Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.375

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
