My mum had her 80th birthday party recently in the care home. We organised entertainment, in the afternoon for all to enjoy. Bingo, live singer and magician. With the help of the manager, the team but especially the activity girls who all went above and beyond they helped with all the decorations at
the start of the day to ensure it was done when mum got up in the morning. They did the bingo and booked the singer as they knew which singer my mum liked best and booked the magician. They encouraged everyone to join in dancing and with the magician. Made sure everyone had snacks and drinks throughout. We couldn't of done it without their help and support. As a family we can't express enough how much we appreciate them all for everything they do for my mum and us as a family. The support we get is 10/10. We would like to thank them from the bottom of our hearts. My mum and dad and everyone really enjoyed the party and that's down to these guys. So again massive thank you.

Mum has resided at Croxteth Park Care Home now since February 2023 and we feel her dignity, care and attention to her needs are second to none. The staff are very caring and compassionate to Mum. The food is beautiful, with a wide range of choices for residents. The manager is so helpful and professional
and has taken on any requests we have asked about with total support.

I cannot fault the staff at the care home. They look after my mum with dignity and respect. They are very caring and passionate about their roles. Mum can join in activities if she wants or she can spend time in her room resting which she enjoys. The home is spotless and is cleaned daily by very reliable
cleaners who do a great job. There is good communication throughout and I would have no hesitation in recommending the home to other families.

Dad has settled well here and calls it home. All the staff love him (I see this with other residents too). Dad looks forward to going to the lounge as it's always inviting and if there are activities on (never seen a care home have so many activities) he partakes. He dances, sings, plays bingo (a member
of staff helps him as his dementia has progressed) skittles, draws, watches old movies, and football, watch and is involved in visitor group activities (exercise and school choirs). He considers all residents his friends and adores the staff. Staff always update me on all since my last visit and his personal file is always updated and ready to read.

My wife has come to Croxteth Park Care Home for respite care and in the short time we have experienced a very pleasant and vibrant establishment and your staff are very nice and kind.
Just a couple of snags in that the TV in the room is not working and the heating is on due to a broken valve, making
the room excessively warm.

I think it would be better if emptying bins in the morning, also the heating is turned lower at night.

My brother lives here. The standard of care he received has been excellent. Staff have been pleasant and chatty, making him feel at home by popping in his room throughout the day. Activities offered encouraged to take part if he wants to. Manager is very approachable if you have any questions about
his care. Staff make you feel very welcome when visiting. Nothing is too much trouble, they all go more than the extra mile to help, and make it a happy place.

I am very pleased with the care and attention my husband receives. The staff are so caring and are concerned if he is unwell or doesn't want to get up out of bed. They are very patient.
Staff make myself and visitors most well.
My husband does not want to join in activities but staff do try to encourage
him. Also, they do try to encourage him with meals, nothing is too much trouble, even though he is a very "fussy eater".

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.217)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.217) out of 10 for Croxteth Park Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.903 for Croxteth Park Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (66 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.903

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.314 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Croxteth Park Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.4 = 0.714

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Sam Hamon

Job Title: Home Manager at Croxteth Park Care Home, Liverpool

“I like that I can support our residents to have the best life possible whilst living at Croxteth Park.”

Having started her career in Health and Social Care following in family footsteps, Sam has progressed her career to Home Manager from being a Care Assistant straight out of college, achieving her life dream along the way.

Why did you decide to join Four Seasons Health Care?
I have worked for the company for 10 years, and I have been Home Manager at Croxteth Park since July 2021, after I supported the home for a short stint of 5 months in 2020. I love the open, honest and transparent approach of the company. I appreciate the guidance from my Senior Management Team and love the friendly feel of the care homes in the group.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I like that I can support others in their journey and career within the company and that I can support our residents to have the best life possible whilst living at Croxteth Park.

What are your favourite hobbies and pastimes?
I am a family person and when I’m not working, I spend a lot of my time with family and friends.

Are there any highlights in your career you are particularly proud of?
I am proud of the team that I am surrounded by, who support me to achieve within the company.

What do you feel is your biggest achievement outside of your career?
Passing my driving test and buying my first home.

What are your Qualifications?
I completed a trident in high school at a care home near to where I lived. I went straight from school into college to study Health and Social Care, being successful in an apprenticeship. Following the apprenticeship ending, I was offered a permanent role.

Since joining Four Seasons in 2011, my passion has always been to succeed in my career and become a Home Manager by the time I reach 30 – that dream has now come true! I was a Care Assistant until 2016 and achieved my Level 2 & 3 in Health & Social Care. I then trained as a Care Home Assistant Practitioner until 2019, and then became a Regional CHAP Facilitator and achieved my Level 5 in Management. In 2020 I then returned to working in a care home, and over the course of a year became Unit Manager, Acting Home Manager, Deputy Manager, and finally Home Manager of Croxteth Park.

What top tips would you give someone when looking for the right care home?
Follow your heart.
