Croxteth Park Care Home is superb. My dad entered the home in October 2021.
He has had nothing but kindness from all staff and encouraged to mix which he has. It is spotlessly clean, his room is lovely, freshly decorated and care is superb.
The home has a buzz about it and is so homely, I felt this
the very first time my brother and I viewed it. Love it, pleasure to visit.

Croxteth Park Care Home was one of the first homes we visited for my mum, and as soon as we arrived I loved it. The staff are all extremely helpful, friendly and easy to talk to. The home itself is spotless. And the rooms are beautiful. Overall I couldn't ask anything else for my mum and I know she'll
be happy here.

The carers are amazing with my nana, her care is what we expected.
I would like to see Nana do more activities and I would like to be invited to events.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback about our home. We are pleased to hear that your experience has been positive and appreciate all of your kind comments about our team. Our Magic Moments Together programme provides a variety of activities for mind, body and soul to help our residents love every day. Understandably, not every resident wants to participate in these activities. We will encourage participation, but respect resident’s wishes if they do not want to join in. During the past 18 months, visits to our home have been restricted for the safety of our residents and team. However, we are now looking forward to being able to host events and invite friends, relatives and members of the community into the home when it is safe to do so.

My mum was put into this care home as her dementia got very bad. From the minute she entered, she was bathed, fed and treated with extreme dignity and kindness. The staff here are all amazing. The only small complaint is she had two pairs of glasses lost - I do appreciate the carers are very busy though.

The staff are very caring and it is obvious through recent events that their priority is the residents' care and wellbeing. They will do all that they can to accommodate the relatives and value their requests and opinions.

The home is a very friendly, homely care home. It is calm and no aggression shown amongst residents which is nice for an EMI.

Mum came in as an emergency case. I did panic wondering where she would end up.
I did not need to worry from the start, care was excellent and room great. Treatment was better than in some hotels.

Very disappointed with the general lack of cleanliness. Wardrobes need sorting out - clothes are just rammed in. I sort this out more than staff! Food tends to be very repetitive. No entertainment other than films in the lounge and maybe the odd meal out at Christmas. Staff try their best but if you
complain you feel as if it is not their fault. Socks go missing, which we replace, at our cost. The bathroom has a joist in it and sometimes his wheelchair and zimmer frame. Not very good if you need to use the toilet during your visits. No tissues in the bathroom.

Since my father has been in the care home he has received nothing but the best care and consideration by the staff, management and cleaners. We have been very happy to see him settled in knowing he is in a safe environment and is happy and content in the care home.

The carers are brilliant at Croxteth Park and have always treated my Mum with respect.

It was a huge relief to us all when Mum settled in well in the residential care home and this was mainly due to the affectionate care and sense of humour of the carers who worked hard to make sure she was clean,

safe and well looked after. The majority of carers always tried to make time to have a chat with residents and family members whilst doing a very demanding job. Carers took the time to learn likes and dislikes of residents and I have witnessed a number of times the patience of the carers when dealing with difficult residents including my Mum when it was extremely hard work to get a resident to cooperate. I am so grateful for all the time's carers acted quickly when my Mum was not very well and needed either a doctor or ambulance always keeping me updated and gaining consent when needed.

I would like to thank the carers for everything they did for my Mum and the support they gave me and my family.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.217)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.217) out of 10 for Croxteth Park Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.903 for Croxteth Park Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (66 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.903

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.314 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Croxteth Park Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.4 = 0.714

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Sam Hamon

Job Title: Home Manager at Croxteth Park Care Home, Liverpool

“I like that I can support our residents to have the best life possible whilst living at Croxteth Park.”

Having started her career in Health and Social Care following in family footsteps, Sam has progressed her career to Home Manager from being a Care Assistant straight out of college, achieving her life dream along the way.

Why did you decide to join Four Seasons Health Care?
I have worked for the company for 10 years, and I have been Home Manager at Croxteth Park since July 2021, after I supported the home for a short stint of 5 months in 2020. I love the open, honest and transparent approach of the company. I appreciate the guidance from my Senior Management Team and love the friendly feel of the care homes in the group.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I like that I can support others in their journey and career within the company and that I can support our residents to have the best life possible whilst living at Croxteth Park.

What are your favourite hobbies and pastimes?
I am a family person and when I’m not working, I spend a lot of my time with family and friends.

Are there any highlights in your career you are particularly proud of?
I am proud of the team that I am surrounded by, who support me to achieve within the company.

What do you feel is your biggest achievement outside of your career?
Passing my driving test and buying my first home.

What are your Qualifications?
I completed a trident in high school at a care home near to where I lived. I went straight from school into college to study Health and Social Care, being successful in an apprenticeship. Following the apprenticeship ending, I was offered a permanent role.

Since joining Four Seasons in 2011, my passion has always been to succeed in my career and become a Home Manager by the time I reach 30 – that dream has now come true! I was a Care Assistant until 2016 and achieved my Level 2 & 3 in Health & Social Care. I then trained as a Care Home Assistant Practitioner until 2019, and then became a Regional CHAP Facilitator and achieved my Level 5 in Management. In 2020 I then returned to working in a care home, and over the course of a year became Unit Manager, Acting Home Manager, Deputy Manager, and finally Home Manager of Croxteth Park.

What top tips would you give someone when looking for the right care home?
Follow your heart.
