Garden Lodge care home delivers residential and dementia care to up to 48 older people.

It is situated in the quiet, residential area of Netherley, Liverpool, close to a local supermarket, post office and large park. There is a direct bus route going to the centre of Liverpool every five minutes.

The home is entirely ground-floor level for accessibility. The home is split into two units, one for residential care and one for dementia care. Both units have single bedrooms with communal bathroom facilities, as well as lounge and dining facilities and a courtyard. The residential care unit also features a smoking room and a hair salon.

Two activities coordinators design and deliver an entertainment programme full of stimulating activities, often in the dedicated activities room. Residents can enjoy a wide range of group activities and are supported to continue their own hobbies or take up new things.

Onsite chefs prepare home-cooked food daily from fresh ingredients, including the option for a cooked breakfast. Residents’ preferences and dietary requirements are accommodated.

My grandad has been at Garden Lodge care home since March 2024. I have never seen him so happy, relaxed and enjoying his life. He is constantly smiling and kept busy throughout the day. The home is very safe and secure meaning that residents are unable to let themselves out on their own. This is amazing
for us as my grandad let himself out and wandered away from the previous care home he lived. The atmosphere in the care home is fantastic and the care assistants are real-life angels who really cannot do enough for the residents. I enjoy going to visit my grandad. Such a relaxed environment. We were even able to throw him a little birthday party in our own private room and spend time all together as a family. We are truly grateful that we are able to make these wonderful memories. Thank you so much Garden Lodge. Thank you for making my grandad so happy and relaxed.

My family member is a resident and I can't praise the care home enough. My family member was placed in another care home facility before coming to Garden Lodge and am sure they cared for them to the best of their abilities but it was so distressing for both my family member and the family, since coming
to Garden Lodge it's been amazing, no stress or anxiety settled in perfectly. The management and staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble, you are greeted like a friend. The care for my family member is amazing, always treated with respect, dignity and loving care. All the activities they lay on are fabulous and everyone is welcome to join in so thank you and well done Garden Lodge you are all angels.

I can't thank the staff enough for what they have done for Dad, when he entered the home it felt like home, he settled quickly and that's down to the excellent staff at Garden Lodge. Our mum has been in Garden Lodge for 7 years now and the staff and home are absolutely amazing. If ever I have had any issues, then the manager and the staff have dealt with them quickly. My mum's room is spotless and the care is second to none. I would highly recommend Garden Lodge if you have a relative

My dad has been a resident since October, we were reluctant at first due to the distance as it takes me an hour to get there and Mum 2 buses, however, I wouldn't want my dad anywhere else. The team are amazing and they are a team, they all work together, my dad has settled so well, there is a lot to
keep him entertained and I know he's safe and happy there which is a great relief for us. When we visit we feel part of their family too

My dad has been here since March 2024 having being moved here from a different home (if you can call it that) this care facility for my dad has been a godsend. The staff have been amazing to him from day one dad has settled in really well and we feel at ease leaving him here. Dad loves it too, he smiles

Staff are friendly and caring. The patients are treated with respect. Residents are clean and well cared for.

My mother has been a resident for almost five years now. During this time we had a pandemic, which I truly believe caused a huge decline in the wellbeing of residents and families alike. This was of course no fault of the care home who did their utmost to ensure families were kept informed of how the
residents were doing, through video calls and then garden visits. I felt confident that during this time my mum became part of the Garden Lodge family, and truly believe that staff care for her as they would a family member.
My mum has good and bad days, but I do feel reassured that the staff do their utmost to reassure her and make her comfortable.
My only concern is with clothing etc going walkabout. I understand it’s hard to control this, but I do feel I have to mention it as it does need addressing.
Overall as you can see from my review we are both happy.

My mum has been a resident at Garden Lodge for just over a year. She’s been well supported and looked after especially more recently after she became poorly from getting pneumonia. All of us live very far away and so we rely a lot on the staff to look after Mum. The manager, three particular members
of staff and many more are wonderfully caring to Mum and keep us well informed.

First-hand Garden Lodge went through dark times however the last few months has improved massively and a good place to be, I wouldn’t put my mother who I love dearly anywhere else. It’s gone back to being good like it used to be.

My mum receives excellent care. The staff are very professional and hardworking. My mum is very settled and comfortable at Garden Lodge.
I cannot thank the staff enough. When Mum had a stroke they acted fast and provided essential care and treatment.

Over the last 3 years all staff at Garden Lodge have shown such kindness, understanding and empathy to my dear uncle, but during these last few weeks during a spell of falls and being diagnosed with pneumonia you have all taken time to help him and assist him even more. I want to say 'thank you' to

The team at Garden Lodge provided the best care for both my grandmothers and we could not have asked for more from anyone. The care, compassion and companionship they provide all day round is like no other residential care home.

Very pleased with all the staff. Pleasant in taking care of my mother-in-law all the staff have been very good in taking care of all my mother-in-law's needs. The only issue is people wandering into the room and taking things.

My grandad has been going to this home for 6 months now and I can’t thank them enough, it’s a very stressful time moving your family member into a home but this has been a great transition for us all. You have helped us more than you will know. My grandad is so so happy and all the staff, especially
the deputy manager and one particular carer; they go above and beyond and treat my grandad like their own. My heart breaks every time I go into the home how happy the residents are and all the lovely events they do for them. Keep up the good work, you are all amazing and do such a very hard tough job, you all deserve the world.

My husband went into Garden Lodge for two weeks respite whilst I had a break. The care he received during his stay was outstanding, as reported by his many visitors during his stay. My sister has been a resident at Garden Lodge Care Centre for nineteen months and the care and attention she has received from all the staff have been really good. If there have been any problems they always get in touch straight away and I cannot thank them enough. We as a family are happy knowing

I have worked in a lot of care homes so I understand that they are not great most of the time. I made the mistake of trusting some reviews and putting my grandmother in Garden Lodge. The care staff that are there are lovely people, genuinely good people. The problem is the run-down unclean home and
the manager who has no people skills at all especially dealing with worried family members. It came to the point I dreaded having to speak to the manager. She was so rude and unapproachable. Please put your loved one somewhere else, especially for residential care. It's completely dementia. My grandmother was a nervous wreck because of residents screaming 24 seven and coming into her room or trying to. No fault of their own, they are unwell. The lies that were told regarding staffing levels and covering their back was shocking. We found my grandmother in a terrible state and called an ambulance to the home. She's probably not going to make it. The ambulance and hospital staff was shocked at the state she was in.

We are extremely saddened to read this review, especially as we have asked for the opportunity to meet with you, as a family, to discuss all concerns. We previously explained that care is provided in close partnership with GPs and Community Matrons, with no concerns raised by any external healthcare professionals regarding the standard of care provided.
We are disappointed and sorry that you feel the home manager is not approachable, as in our recent CQC inspection, the manager was commended by staff, residents and family members for her friendly approach and leadership style.
We also wish to add that we have received no other complaints regarding the condition or cleanliness of Garden Lodge Care Home.
We recognise that this is a difficult time for all family members when their loved ones are unwell, welcoming all feedback family members have to give. We have offered the opportunity to sit down with family members face to face but up until now, that has not been accepted.
