My mum has been in Parkside care home for over a year now. We have been happy with her care all the staff are attentive to her needs and are kind and caring. My mum says the food is good. Parkside is clean and homely. The staff keep us informed and are welcoming when visiting, they give us peace of
mind that my mum is cared for.

Dad stayed at Parkside for nine months and the care he has received has been excellent. The staff are very friendly and caring towards both residents and visitors. The building itself has a nice homely feel with excellent communal spaces and a nice garden area.
If you can't be at home, Parkside is
an excellent alternative. I am forever thankful to the team for the care they have given to Dad.

Mum has lived at Parkside for two and a half years. The care she receives is excellent. She is very happy there. All the Staff are lovely. Mum gets treated with care and respect. We couldn’t wish for her to live anywhere better. We can’t thank the staff enough for all they do.
We would highly recommend
Parkside Care Home.

Overall good to very good.
The staff are very friendly and efficient.
My comment about activities are poor that I can see, bearing in mind cost restraints.

When Dad first moved into Parkside Care Home, both ourselves (siblings) and himself were very apprehensive. We soon learned there was absolutely no need to be at all! He is extremely happy; well cared for in a beautifully clean and calming environment. He loves the food and can't speak highly enough
of the cook. All staff, from carers to cleaners, work so hard. The activity coordinator is a breath of fresh air, always with a smile and kind words. We are happy.

My mum has had a few months respite at Parkside.
The care Mum has received from all staff members has been excellent.
Mum has, at all times, had clean clothes on. Her appearance has always been immaculate.
Mum's room has always been spotless and she's just loved being there.
The staff have been
so professional and treated my mum with the care and dignity she deserves.
I have been able to leave after visits and know my mum has been well looked after and I've not had to worry about anything.
I really can't thank everyone enough and would recommend the home to anyone thinking of placing family members in Parkside.
I'm really grateful. Thank you.

Appalling service from the manager here. I would not recommend this place for loved ones. 15 minutes to answer a bell, a week without a bath or shower. Not getting appropriate medical help when needed. I would seriously advise people to look elsewhere.

Reply from Simon Gould, Owner at Parkside Care Home

We‘re sorry that you feel our service didn’t meet your expectations.
Sometimes staff may be slow to answer the door as they may be supporting residents. Mr B was asked every day if he would like to bathe but he refused. As he has capacity to make this decision, we cannot force him.
Regarding "appropriate medical help", when Mr B’s relative thought he had suffered a stroke, our staff immediately assessed him. They didn’t believe he had. but decided to contact his GP, who also confirmed there were no signs of a stroke, but, would arrange for him to be admitted to hospital to investigate. Finally, St Helens safeguarding team were alerted but after their investigation, they found there was no cause for a complaint and closed the case.
We’d like to apologise again that you felt our services did not meet your expectations but we strive to provide the best care possible, which is confirmed by the Good CQC rating we have achieved and our excellent reputation in the community.

My grandad was a resident at Parkside for three years. The care given by all the staff was absolutely fantastic. He was always clean and well looked after, hospital staff even commented on how well looked after he was when he was admitted. If you're looking for a home where your relative is cared for
in the way they should be but also letting them have some independence they need then Parkside is your place. Thank you to all the staff for everything you have done over the past three years.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.354)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.354) out of 10 for Parkside Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.654 for Parkside Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 81 Ratings = 4.654

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Parkside Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
