St Helen’s Hall is a modern, purpose-built care home in Thatto Heath, St Helen’s. It offers residential care for up to 94 older people.

All bedrooms have en-suite facilities and a television point. The home also has several lounges and dining rooms.

The home backs onto rugby grounds and a large fishing pond. There is a bus stop outside where residents can catch buses into the centre of Liverpool.

Just next to the home is a post office and a newsagent.

The home’s activities coordinator arranges a variety of things to join in with, including trips out, quizzes, art, pet therapy and karaoke.

Food is freshly prepared in the kitchen and snacks are available throughout the day, with dietary needs catered for. Residents can choose to eat together or privately in the rooms.

Our experience at the Hall and Lodge has been excellent since my wife became resident from January. She is happy, feels secure, and finds the staff treat her with a smile and dignity. They are very helpful, pleasant and very caring.
I cannot compliment the home and staff any more, they are excellent
and very understanding.
At a time when your loved one cannot be at home, it is very reassuring that she is in very good hands, giving me more peace of mind.
I thank you one and all.
My wife has vascular dementia/reason for me with her help to do this review.

My brother has been in St Helens Hall and Lodge for around 7 years now. Before we went there we had a look at various other homes and this care home outstood, and after seven years I am still not disappointed. The place is always clean and tidy, my brother's always clean and tidy, the management are
always welcoming a smile and a chat and always make you feel good along with the staff and are very professional. Many thanks to them for everything they do.

Staff very friendly and helpful with my mother's care and very good organising hospital appointments and doctors. Room always clean and tidy when visiting. Had little contact with management.
Mother always happy with meals when asked what she has eaten and happy with her care.

My Mum lived in Bexhill on Sea and due to Safe Guarding issues I desperately needed to have Mum transferred nearer to myself. A member of staff at said home drove down to review Mum, no issue at all doing this. From the moment Mum came to live here she has been cared for in the highest possible level.
Staff genuinely care and look after Mum. Mum hasn't once said she wants to go home and has actually stated she is home. I have ill health myself and never worry about Mum if I can't visit. Thank you so much St Helens Hall and Lodge.

The staff, on the whole, are kind, caring and do their best on a daily basis to meet the residents' needs, although at times are really stretched. More staff would enhance the residents' experience.

Nothing is too much trouble for the staff which is very encouraging. There have been problems with laundry which was discussed with the manager and has certainly improved more recently.

I chose St Helens Hall & Lodge for my Dad as I felt at home the minute I got there to look around. All of the staff, whether Carers, Cleaners, Admin, or Caretaking, are very approachable, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.
My dad was only there a short time before his carers identified the problems
he was having and went above and beyond to try to cater for him.
They even helped me find another home that would be better suited to his needs and is a sister home to this one, and very similar in all the best ways.
Cleanliness is excellent, as is decor and furnishings, all go together in making this seem like a home from home for the residents.
The staff are always bright and cheerful in their duties, and nothing is too much trouble, whether it's for a resident or a visitor, everyone is part of the family.
I will be forever grateful for all of their help with my dad.
And wouldn't hesitate to recommend the home in the highest way to all who may be in need of this kind of care!

I believe the majority of staff work extremely hard and are caring. Sometimes they are working under a lot of pressure and do their best to cope. Two of the staff went beyond what they needed to when my mother required help. All other staff are pleasant and approachable. My only gripe with the home
is lack of activities for the residents.

My mum has been a resident for the past four years. The care she receives is excellent, should there be a problem it is sorted straight away. The staff go that extra mile to meet all concerns. The home is very clean, the food is good, laundry getting better. We have regular meetings to update us on
staff, building work and we can ask as many questions as we like which are all dealt with.
My mum is happy and being well cared for. I would not hesitate to recommend this home.

This home is modern and clean with good sized rooms which are tastefully decorated and well equipped. More importantly, every member of staff from the manager to the cleaners, laundry staff and kitchen team are caring, friendly, approachable and dedicated.
Mum has been there for 20 months and has
settled in far better than she or her family could have imagined. This is entirely due to the wonderful staff, in particular, the carers who treat her with such kindness, patience, dignity and gentle humour when appropriate.
She is happy and fond of all the staff so I have no worries and enjoy visiting.
I cannot recommend this home highly enough, because of the staff who even buy presents for residents out of their own money.

My mother was made to feel welcome immediately and very quickly it became "her home". The carers stick to the care plan without fail and are always thoughtful in maintaining her dignity. They got to know her well in a short space of time and enjoy her sense of humour there's always light hearted banter
and laughter when we go to visit.
The staff are so accommodating to the family nothing is too much trouble and this has made a huge difference to making the family feel part of the care package.

My mother has been at St Helen's for six years, sadly my mum died on the 23rd July 2017. Through all her stay she had been treated with respect, her needs always met and so much love and care shown to her and to us as her family. I have nothing but praise for all members of staff without who we would
not have been able to cope. The last few days of mums life were very difficult and the staff were amazing with mum and us. I have never experienced so much love and concern as on that last night and will be forever grateful. They will always be a part of our family. God bless them all.

My Nan was in St Helens Hall and Lodge for 12 months the staff are very friendly and helpful. We looked at a few other places but chose this one from the minute we walked through the door they was very welcoming. During her final weeks I could not asked for better people to look after her. We have been
back to visit and they still welcome us back with a drink. We miss everybody there even the other residents.

Amanda Clark

Joined: 2015

Amanda started her career in care over 20 years ago and she has worked in every area of St Helens Hall and knows the environment inside and out. Amanda has completed NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care. Amanda has also completed her Level 5 Management Qualification, and she has completed a Level 2 in Dementia Care, End of Life Care, Nutrition and Equality and Diversity.


In October 2015, Amanda was appointed as the Registered Home Manager of St Helens Hall to ensure we deliver excellent standards of care for all our residents. Amanda feels very passionate about her role and making a difference through ‘Good Quality Care.’ And so the journey continues for St Helens Hall to be ‘outstanding’ in all areas by the regulator, CQC.

Job Title: Care Manager

Joined: 2012

I worked in retail for many years, but due to the closure of TJ Hughes in 2011, I started working for a domiciliary company. I found the job very rewarding and thoroughly enjoyed my work.


I wanted to work in a home and had heard such good reviews of St Helens Hall that I started working here in 2012 as a Senior Care Assistant in the residential unit.
After two years I was promoted to Deputy Manager on the EMI unit and in May 2018 I was promoted to Care Manager.


During my time working here, I have found the home to be exceptional in all areas, and the care and support given to all residents and staff to be outstanding. The home feels welcoming and friendly.


I find my work very rewarding. Knowing that I am supporting people and making a difference in someone's life is an amazing feeling.

Job Title: Senior Activities Coordinator

Joined: 2013

I joined St Helens Hall as the Senior Activities Coordinator in 2013. Since then, I have been providing meaningful and fun activities for the residents.


I am always coming up with new ideas alongside being crafty. I like to make all the residents smile and get them stuck in our day-to-day activities. Watching them enjoy new experiences makes the job worth it.


In my spare time at home, I like to make things for others to enjoy.

Job Title: Chef

Joined: 2012

I became a cook at St Helen's Hall in 2012. On a daily basis, I prepare menus and cook delicious food for our residents, accommodating dietary needs. My favourite thing to do is to look for fancy decorations to add to my cupcakes for the home’s coffee mornings. I am most proud of my tasty Sunday Lunch with all the trimmings, it’s even better when I get to watch all the residents enjoy it.


I love all aspects of cooking for my residents to make sure they are enjoying all their meals. Baking is my favourite hobby; I love to get creative with new recipes and make yummy cupcakes and biscuits for everyone to share.
