My dad recently spent a week at Chase Heys Residential and Respite Service. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, they did a great job in helping him rehabilitate, especially the occupational therapists, who came to his apartment to make sure everything was safe for him to return home. They gave
him lots of encouragement to become more mobile, we would definitely recommend Chase Heys.

My elderly mother spent a short time at Chase Heys Residential and Respite Service after a hip fracture. The genuine care shown by all the staff was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble. My mother's room was welcoming and homely. She said the food was lovely. I was always made to feel welcome and
involved whenever I visited.

I stayed in Chase Heys for almost 4 weeks in March this year, after being discharged from the hospital. The care I got was second to none. When I went there I could only walk about 5 steps, with a Zimmer. I was told I would soon be walking, albeit with a rollator. The physio team was very good, and
firm but ready to give you a hug if you needed one. The carers were very kind and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The laundry was collected and returned the same day. The food was good, just what you would eat at home. I had a lovely room, dual aspect, with a TV. I have absolutely no complaints, and would recommend Chase Heys to anybody who is offered a place there.

Has new management taken over? On a recent visit to my elderly friend, I was shocked by one key staff member, who complained to me quite openly and volubly in public, about my friend who has vision and hearing problems. She made it clear that my friend's needs were irritating to her. As I'm not next
of kin, I was shocked she would be so indiscreet, it left me with a bad impression of the staff and concerned for my friend. Also, my friend is not the type to complain but I could see she was unhappy in there. I'm sure there must be good people working there but that was not my impression during both my visits.

I've looked after a few elderly family members over the last 15 plus years and Chase Heys was always the preferred care facility for respite care. I was always happy with the care and the facilities, and the majority of those who went there were very happy with their stay. I can't say the same for my friend and I would no longer recommend it to anyone.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.718) out of 10 for Chase Heys Residential and Respite Service is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.968 for Chase Heys Residential and Respite Service is calculated as follows: ( (30 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 31 Ratings = 4.968

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.75 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chase Heys Residential and Respite Service is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 6 = 0.5

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
