Having previously had a bad experience at another care home we were relieved that mum settled well at Cedar Grange. We felt that the staff made a real effort to get to know mum and were genuinely fond of her. We were always made to feel welcome and the staff were very accommodating. The management team
are proactive and forward-thinking. Staff training is the key to an excellent CQC report next time. Thank you.

Cedar Grange has been a godsend for my dad and our family. Dad ios treated like a loved family member and we rest knowing he is well taken care of. The staff and management are professional, friendly and go the extra mile. Would thoroughly recommend. During COVID19 they were selfless and amazing they

Cedar Grange Care Home is a lovely friendly place. The staff appear to be very dedicated to the service users and appear to genuinely care about them. I visited a few care homes before choosing Cedar Grange, it possessed a lot of warmth and felt inviting. The manager appears to have some good innovative
ideas which contribute to the well being of residents.

Always welcomed with a hello and a smile from the staff.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Dad is well cared for and looked after very well. I am glad I chose this care home for Dad.

Dad was admitted to Cedar Grange for 6 wk respite with a view to staying permanently.
The staff are friendly and very caring. Nothing is too much trouble if you have a question they are always there to help.
Dad has settled well after a few ups and downs which is to expected. He is always smart
and well dressed as are all the residents. The home is lovely and clean, dad's room is small but adequate for his needs. It is always clean and tidy. Two points to raise - on day of arrival we were told just to take dad to his room to unpack. I didn't feel they welcomed dad as they should considering he was new. No information provided of routine what happens in the home etc. Dad has always been clean-shaven, on quite a few occasions he has not had a shave. He has also had his moustache shaved off! Luckily we don't mind as he looks younger.

I am sorry to hear that your Dad's welcome wasn't as you were expecting, and I would like to confirm that this isn't the usual welcome that our residents receive. Our Home Manager likes to make sure that he personally meets all new families on admission, in order to ensure that they feel comfortable and have all the information they will need and would like to apologise that this did not happen on your Dad's admission.
I am glad to hear that you didn't mind the incident of the shaved moustache, however, I do understand that it is something you were not expecting. The manager has spoken to the team to ensure that care is taken to ensure incidents like this do not happen in the future. Regular shaving is also something that will be addressed based on your comments.
If you would like to discuss anything further, please do not hesitate to call the home directly and speak to him and he will be happy to meet up with you when you are next visiting.

First respite in 5 years and 1st time resident has stayed in any type of home. She spent two weeks at Cedar Grange and returned in good health and spirits. All staff including cleaners were excellent - would be happy to recommend Cedar Grange.

It was a very difficult decision as a family to put mum into residential care. We found it really stressful at the beginning. Now we know it was the right decision for both mum and the family. Cedar Grange is the right place for our mum.

During the past 2 years, my mum has been at Cedar Grange. All her care needs have been fully met. All the staff show genuine care for the residents. We have been impressed with continual improvement to the facilities and services, particularly the increased amount of activities available, which include
activities previously enjoyed by residents as hobbies.

We moved my mother in law to Cedar Grange earlier in 2017. A continuing deterioration in her mental faculties resulted in her previous care home advising that they could no longer meet her needs. From day one the staff at Cedar Grange have presented as confident, professional and caring. They assessed
and understood my mother in laws individual needs, and are providing a very comfortable and safe environment in which to meet them. She appears a lot happier and more settled as a result. The home exudes a positive, homely yet stimulating atmosphere. Residents appear encouraged and genuinely cared for, rather than 'controlled'. Just feels right and I would recommend to anyone with a relative for whom they are seeking residential care, and particularly dementia type care.

My sister and I are very happy with the care our mother is receiving. Her needs are well catered for and she clearly likes the staff, whom we have found friendly too. We have good communication links with the home and we are kept abreast of any changes in our mother's health. The accommodation and communal
areas are always clean and there are no lingering unpleasant smells which I have found in other establishments. The owners have worked very hard on the décor of various lounges and the corridors. The conservatory is offered as a private area when visiting which is a great asset and refreshments are always offered and that is much appreciated. I would, and indeed have, recommended Cedar Grange to others.

Very impressive care home good furnishings. Somewhere you would place your loved ones. Carers are angels unless you ask questions and concerns about their health. They do not look well. Then you are told it is not a nursing home. They have a lot of dementia residents to look after. Is that classed as
nursing care? Took my husband just five months, 16thSept to 15th Feb, to die. From being reasonably fit when he was first admitted to Cedar Grange.

I am very sorry to hear however that you found other aspects of the home and care received by your husband poor and I would like address these concerns for you.
Our Cedar Grange Care Home isn’t a nursing home, it is a state of the art dementia care centre which focuses on a wide range of different activities that our residents can relate to, from completing everyday tasks to cinema visits, cake decorating and ball games. All of these activities however are optional and if our residents do not wish to participate in any particular activity, then their wishes are respected. The social worker who assessed your husband before being admitted into our home, agreed that this was the best home for him and he did not require nursing care.
All of our carer’s are committed to delivering outstanding personal care to all of their residents, treating everyone with dignity and respect as they would wish to be treated themselves – the ethos of Cedar Care Group is that our residents are living in a home they feel comfortable and safe in.
Our in-house chef provides a varied menu, preparing fresh home-made meals on a daily basis and all of our residents are encouraged to eat a healthy and balanced diet, taking into account their own likes and dislikes.
I would like to apologise again for the less than satisfactory experience of the home that you have encountered. We do have an open door policy at our home, as well as holding regular resident family meetings where we encourage any issues to be raised in order that we may deal with them directly. If you would like to discuss any of your concerns in more detail, please do not hesitate to contact the home and our Registered Manager will be happy to speak with you.

The care team seem well motivated towards constant improvement. In the 16 months my mother has been at Cedar Grange I have seen big improvements in systems and procedures.
I am always warmly greeted when visiting. I've been impressed with the detailed, individual, personal care my mother has received.
My
monthly meetings with the care team have been a very important communication channel and proved extremely useful in my understanding of the latest developments at the care home.

It is clear that Cedars Care Group have invested significant resources into Cedar Grange and that these resources are so accurately focused on the needs of their residents. I believe that their success is achieved by employing managers and senior staff with a huge amount of talent and experience. Having
said that, it would be remiss to ignore the commitment of the rest of the team. One thing that has particularly impressed me is the caring relationship that all staff, even the cleaner or maintenance man, has with my mother, who is a resident at Cedar Grange. We never expected such a high level of care in this respect.


My mother is 89 years of age and has dementia. Cedar Grange is her home and her world. It is a place where she is not only safe, but 'feels safe'. Whilst the building is beautiful, I believe that my mother's happiness comes from the caring relationship that she enjoys with all members of staff, who 'genuinely care' and include families in their care plans.

My mum went into Cedar Grange on 3/1/2017 for a short stay as she had been in hospital for the past 6 weeks suffering with later stage dementia.
Sadly mum died on Monday the 9/1/2017 with all our family by her bedside, dad held her hand until she slipped away.
The care staff and all the girls treated
mum with total respect and treated her like their own. I have emailed Cedar Grange head office to thank them and pass on my family's regards to the team. If you want that personal touch for your loved one, then Cedar Grange would be the place.


Mums room was beautiful, the staff looked after my dad as well, making a fuss of him for which he's very grateful for. Although the CQC report had a couple of points I wouldn't have any issues in referring this care home, sometimes you have to go with your gut feeling which I did and it payed off.
My family and myself want to say thank you for making mums final days special.

Vanessa Rigby

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2000

I started my career with Cedars Care Group in 2000 when the group was in its infancy. My
initial role was as a domestic cleaner at Woodlands Manor in Southport. It was a challenging
but rewarding experience. After a few short years, I progressed from Head Housekeeper to
Housekeeping Manager, overcoming various obstacles along the way.
As the group expanded, our CEO saw in me the dedication and skills needed for the role of
Quality Assurance Manager in the new Operations team. My responsibilities include
ensuring home compliance, overseeing maintenance work, and managing projects across
the entire group, a role I take on with a steadfast commitment to quality care.
I was recently approached to take on the role of Home Manager for Cedar Grange. I didn’t
hesitate to accept, as Cedar Grange has always been a source of pride for me.  In
September 2019, I collaborated with the Operations team to assist Cedar Grange in
achieving an "Outstanding" CQC rating in responsiveness—a distinction that is not easily
attained. Furthermore, Cedar Grange received the "Best End of Life Care" award from the
Gold Standard Framework. This initial accreditation was a six-month process, during which
my team and I diligently compiled evidence to meet their 20 standards of care, resulting in a
Gold award. Upon re-accreditation, we were honoured to receive the highest possible award,
the Platinum Award. The team and the home are incredibly proud of these achievements.
It goes without saying that I am very proud of Cedar Grange. I am now happy to say I am the
manager while continuing my responsibilities with the Operations Support Team. I am
excited to lead Cedar Grange and support the team in achieving our goals. I am grateful to
Cedars Care Group for the opportunities and support that have led me to this point in my
career.

Job Title: Operational Care Manager,

Joined: 2000

My journey began in 2000, while I was still in my final year of school. I started as a weekend
worker at Ash Croft House Nursing home. After my exams, the then manager recognized
my potential and offered me a full-time position, which I gratefully accepted. This was just
the start of my career, and I am deeply thankful for the opportunities that have come my way.
I have since progressed from HCA to Floor Manager, then to Care Manager and Deputy
Manager, a testament to my ambition and drive.
In 2012, with Cedars Group's growth, our CEO created the Operational Support Team, a
crucial department that provided strategic and operational support to our care facilities. I was
offered the position of Operational Care Manager, overseeing the teams in the different
homes and ensuring the highest standards of care across the board.
My work in the care field has not only been my vocation but also gives me a great sense of
pride. It is so rewarding, and I am lucky enough to say that I love my job and the impact it
has on the lives of those we care for.
Today, I find great joy in working closely with the staff at all our homes. My role goes beyond
management; I strive to empower our staff to grow and succeed. From senior carers to
deputy managers, I encourage and support their professional development, fostering a
culture of learning and progression.
