Marina Care Home is nestled between Southport Golf Club and Marine Drive, benefiting from idyllic ocean views.

The home is located within beautifully maintained front gardens and a private landscaped rear garden.

The team believes in a truly person-centred approach and works with residents, along with their families and friends, to determine their distinct needs and preferences. Instead of making assumptions about a person's required care or implementing a generic care plan, the team customises their care plans and approach to meet the needs of each resident, ensuring that they address physical, emotional, and social requirements of every resident, and promote a feeling of wellness and inclusion.

They also understand the decision of residential care can be emotional. Marina Care Home offers a nurturing setting where you, or your loved one, have peace of mind that the 24-hour care is person-centred and highly rated. Marina strongly believes in the importance of staying connected to family and hobbies within the community and this is achieved through the Activities and Wellbeing program

Right on the home's doorstep is:

Beautiful Marine Lake
Bus route into Southport
Coastal Location for beach days

Extremely caring care home, always very attentive, my husband has settled in really well with no issues which makes me feel at ease knowing he is being cared for with due care and attention at all times. I would like to thank all the staff for making me feel welcome whenever I visit especially if they
are busy dealing with residents.

My dad has been a resident at Marina Care Home for just over three years and is happily settled. The staff are amazing and make sure Dad is always well cared for. They all go above and beyond to ensure the well-being of all residents and work well together as a team. Dad is shown the utmost dignity
and love in his care by all members of the team.

My husband has been at Marina Care Home, initially for two weeks respite and now is there three days a week using the holiday experience. This is such a wonderful idea as it gives residents and their families the opportunity for a smooth transition into full-time residence with no limit on the time
that may take. My husband has settled really well. There is a real family feeling in the home, the staff are wonderful and go above and beyond to make sure every need is met. I cannot thank the Events Ambassador and all the team enough, it has given me a much-needed break and peace of mind knowing my hubby is happy and cared for.

My Mum has been a resident at Marina Care Home for a number of months. She has settled in very well thanks in no small part to the efforts of the staff. They have always been very caring, professional and patient. Marina Care Home is always buzzing with activities with the residents at the heart of
whatever is happening, my Mum loves taking part in all the activities and it has been of enormous benefit to her wellbeing. I have regular contact with the Staff all of whom treat me with kindness and respect. I also have regular daily telephone contact with my Mum, this ensures I am kept abreast of all and any changes to my Mums wellness. Since her move to Marina my Mums mental health, well-being and her physical appearance have improved immeasurably for which I am very grateful to the Staff at Marina Care Home. In short, I would have no reservations about recommending its services to others. Often friends request if they can go, as my Mum is "having such a ball" they're jealous

I cannot fault the service my parents have received since joining the Marina family. It is such a relief to know that they are well cared for. They both look at least ten years younger after being there for less than two weeks. They have been kept active too, they have done more socially than they have
in the last three years. Mum is knitting again and Dad is tatting and is looking forward to playing the piano again. Thanks again to all the staff.

My parents have been residents of Marina Care Home for two weeks. They have been made extremely welcome and the care they have received so far has been exemplary. They both look so much better (and younger) in the short time they have been there. It has given us, as their family, great peace of mind
to know that they are being well cared for and their individual needs are being met. The activities that are offered to the residents are varied and engaging. It has been so lovely to see our parents taking an interest in things again and being given a new lease of life. We can't thank the team enough for all they are doing.

My mum looks well, the staff had done her hair and nails. Thank you so much as she appreciates that.
On entry, the male staff was rude and was not wearing PPE.
Mum isn’t given much choice regarding when she gets up and goes to bed.
The staff that brought my mum to us was very pleasant.
The home
needs maintenance.
I would appreciate my mum's dignity and respect to be upheld at all times.
Thank you for your support.

Dad was at the Marina Care home for approximately 4 months after having broken his ankle. It was respite until he was more mobile. All the staff at the home appeared very bubbly, friendly and happy in their work. The care my dad received was excellent and he liked all of the carers so much so when I
picked him up to take him home he was almost in tears whilst saying goodbye, however, he was adamant he wanted to return home and try to be as independent as possible again.

My mother has been at Marina for 6 years plus. They look after my mother very well. Good food and friendly staff. My mother is in a room in the basement and they allow her to be as independent as she can be which is a big thing for her.

My father has been a resident at Marina for 2 and a half years now and we have never had any issues with the care that he receives. The staff are all very attentive and consistent which is very important to both me and my dad as his needs are complex. It’s important that the staff helping him are aware
of how to care for him in the best way for him. The staff encourage and engage with the residents and are always planning a variety of different activities which we enjoy keeping up with on Facebook. Covid has been handled in an exemplary manner and, although been difficult for us not being able to visit, we have been more than happy with the procedures Marina had in place to best protect residents and staff.

I visit my friend regularly and she is well cared for. The staff are always welcoming and friendly and the home atmosphere is always lively. The residents are always happy. I was invited for the Christmas bingo event and there was plenty of laughs, food and drinks were provided, lots of presents for
all to win. The management are always available and any issues or concerns are dealt with and communication is always given back to families.

The staff at Marina Care held a birthday celebration for a resident who was 100 yrs of age. The event was inclusive of all residents and their families. The afternoon was excellent with great food, entertainment and the lounge/dining rooms were decorated with balloons and banners. It was a fabulous

My Aunt recently had her 100th birthday and the manager and staff put on a party for her. We (the family) were thrilled with everything that was done for her. Excellent entertainment was provided (enjoyed by all residents) and the buffet was superb as was a beautiful cake. The home was decorated with
balloons and flowers and looked lovely. We have always thought that the care given is second to none but the love shown to my Aunt on her special day was above and beyond. Thank you all x

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.385)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.385) out of 10 for Marina Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.957 for Marina Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (22 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 23 Ratings = 4.957

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.428 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Marina Care Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 33 registered maximum number of service users is 6.6. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.6 = 0.303

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
