The care home is excellent in every way. The staff are and have always been excellent in their care towards my mum. They have treated her with such dignity and kindness that I will never be able to repay them. They are all so friendly and kind both towards the residents and family. The staff are like
one big family who embraces both the residents and family into theirs. My mum sadly passed away, and I was supported throughout, and my mum was nursed so well with round the clock care.

The Promenade Care Home is an excellent well run establishment. The quality of care given is of a very high standard. The care team are kind, caring and considerate and well trained in the caring field. All the staff are always pleasant and very helpful. The environment of the home is excellent, all
needs are met it is very well maintained to a high standard. There are numerous activities and lots of stimulation for residents. All residents look well cared for and happy. If the need occurs and I need a care home this would be the one for me.

My dad has been a resident of Promenade Care Home for the past 18 months, so I feel it is ample time to judge the service he receives. I highly recommend Promenade because they go out of their way to care for him and I really appreciate it. Some homes, I'm sure would see him as difficult - he rarely
wants to leave his room but the staff are so kind to him despite this. He was very frail when he went to live there after several falls, now his health has improved immensely and he is better than he has been for many years! I have noticed that the turnover of staff is very low, he has had the same wonderful keyworker since he moved in. If you are looking for a care home in Southport, look beyond a few chips in the paintwork - this is a caring environment, very clean, superb staff.

A very well run care home, spotless from top to bottom. We are always made to feel welcome here when visiting and the free car spaces outside are a bonus. We have always seen good standard of care and my mum loves the trips out in the minibus. I'm sure there are newer care homes buts it's the staff
and activities which make the difference.

My mum suffered an acute stroke and following the advice from her consultant, the hardest decision I have ever had to make, was to look for Residential Care. I wanted to find a home that was friendly, welcoming and could provide the level of care my mum needed.

After visiting the Promenade, I knew

immediately that this was the ideal home for mum.

Mum has been there now for 6 months, she has settled in, made friends with other residents and above all has a good relationship with the carers.

The carers work hard and they provide a very good standard of care.

What is nice to see, is the variety of activities that are organised where the residents can participate if they so wish.

I am a regular visitor to the home and I am always made to feel welcome which is lovely.

Communication between all parties is a key factor and I am pleased that I can have open discussions with the carers and the home manager about mum's progress and her wellbeing.

My mother has been a resident now for almost one year and I have been very pleased with the care she has received. The staff look after her physical and personal care needs very well and she always looks her best. She enjoys her meals very much. She likes having her hair and nails done. She celebrated
her 100th birthday in the home recently and they could not have done more to make the day a special and memorable one. The staff are always friendly and keep us up to date with how mum is doing, which is very helpful as I live abroad.

My dad stayed at the care home from Feb 2015 to June 2016. They made him feel very welcome let him choose his own room. He soon found his way round as he had brief stays there before when mum was in hospital so I had no hesitation in letting him stay permanently. The staff were always kind and polite.
He enjoyed the trips out on the mini bus and to local pubs. The staff work very hard to provide some great activities and parties. When dad became ill and then passed away the staff went out of their way to help us, they looked after me when I stayed the night for dad's last hours and attended the funeral.

I could not speak more highly of the Promenade Care Home. It's obviously extremely stressful when a family member needs to go into a care home but the staff at The Promenade made the process much easier with their caring and supportive attitude. All the staff are exceptional and I would not hesitate
to recommend The Promenade to anyone looking for care.

Since Dad has been in care, coming up to 5 years, he has become a totally different person. He is more outgoing and independent since arriving, he calls all the staff his girls and regards them in the highest.
All Staff that I have come across are aware of my Dad and his needs and treat him as they
would a family member.
Dad is almost 95 years young and he stills enjoys getting out and about and whenever he can he is first on the bus for trips out. These are on a regular basis and at times dad does not even have to put his name on the list because the staff know that Dad would be keen to get out so puts his name down automatically.
I know the staff get paid for doing this job but any money cannot buy how they treat all residents in this very testing, unrelenting job. Well done to all staff here.

My Mother has been a resident at the Promenade Care Home for a number of years following her stroke and is extremely happy and settled there.

The management and staff are marvelous - professional, caring, compassionate and patient; they are very attentive and ensure Mum’s health is constantly monitored,

and that she is engaged and stimulated throughout the day. The home cooked food is excellent and I feel sure that she is eating a better and more balanced diet now than she was prior to her stroke.

There are daily quizzes and games, and outings in the Home’s mini-bus are frequent. On a personal care front, there are a variety of hairdressing, manicure, pedicure, massage and relaxation sessions.

My Sister and I (and our families) are regular visitors to the Promenade Care Home and are always made most welcome and are kept appraised of Mum’s general health and well being.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.798)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.798) out of 10 for Promenade Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.586 for Promenade Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.586

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.212 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Promenade Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 49 registered maximum number of service users is 9.8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.8 = 0.612

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
