Woodlands is a home in the true sense of the word; warm, comfortable and welcoming. Professionals pride themselves on the quality of the care and surroundings they provide and on attention to details – it’s the little things that matter.

In reflection of this, Woodlands Manor receives GSF (Gold Standard Framework) award accreditation in September 2017, achieving a Commend status in giving end of life care.

The owners have arranged the home to make it interesting, varied, surprising and stimulating. Woodlands has many original features you would expect to see from properties built around the 1900s and mixes theses with an exciting and progressive specialist dementia environment.

The communal areas of the home are themed; allowing residents to relax with others and join in various activities, where dedicated staff are on hand to assist with their individual needs. They have a 1950s reminiscence room with original features of TV, telephone, furniture and gramophone. There is also a light and airy garden room and family room. Woodlands know the importance of providing varied and interesting daily activities for residents to promote well-being and purpose.

I have no complaints at all, in fact only praise. I know my mum is in the best place and I don't have to worry about her. The staff are lovely and the management are so efficient and are professional in all they do.

My wife who has dementia is very happy here. She loves the staff and has made friends with some of the other residents. I think the staff are particularly good, very caring and consistent. The food is excellent and my wife particularly likes the lovely garden and the patio at the home.

The manager and all staff are caring, compassionate and empathetic towards every resident and their individual needs with dignity within the home.
It’s always clean and excellent meals and healthy snacks are always available for residents and visitors alike.
They always have lots of activities going
on where everyone can join in which is fun. Leading up to Christmas is the most poignant time when a candle is lit for all residents lost that particular year and they are remembered.
When looking for care for my mum this home found us instead of the other way round. Truly excellent, I wouldn’t have my mum anywhere else.

From the moment my daughter and I walked in, we knew it was the right place for my husband. The manager and all the staff were very kind and welcoming. The care given to my husband was outstanding in every respect. We were able to visit/ring at any time and the manager always made herself available.
The care was not only for my husband but for all of us, especially me.
My husband died a few weeks ago. The end-of-life care provided meant that his passing was very calm and peaceful. He had everything that was needed. Our needs were taken care of too. We were consulted/kept informed throughout. It might seem a small thing, but even the regular provision of tea, biscuits and freshly made sandwiches meant a lot. It enabled us as a family to concentrate on my husband.
Many thanks to all the staff, especially the manager.

I chose Woodlands for respite as it was clean, fresh, happy residents and had lots of activities going on. Both the manager and the deputy were attentive and went the extra mile during the initial settling-in period. No matter the visiting time, residents are settled with plenty of staff around the
home. I am more than happy with the care Grandad has received and would highly recommend it. Thank you to everyone at Woodlands Manor!

Both my mum and dad are now residents of Woodlands Manor, they have been there now for 7 weeks and I couldn’t fault it so far. The manager of the home goes above and beyond in the care she gives and the events she puts on for the residents.
My mum and dad share a lovely room together backing onto
the huge very well-presented rear garden, all of the staff we have come across so far have been lovely, caring and attentive to my mum and dad. It was a very hard time for the family trying to find a home which we felt good enough for our mum and dad as you are looking for a 5-star hotel you will never find, we viewed around ten homes and never felt any of them good enough or suitable until we went to Woodlands Manor, once we met the manager and viewed the premises we felt comfort putting our mum and dad into the care they had needed for a while.
I will carry on adding reviews each month to hopefully help others looking for the right care home for their loved ones.

Dad was a resident at Woodlands Manor EMI Care Home until sadly he passed away. He had previously been in another care home provided by a different care provider in Southport where the level of care was woeful. Very different at Woodlands where the level of care was of the highest order.
The staff
are fantastic and the home has a lovely 'feel' to it with a great atmosphere, in no part to the wonderful staff and management.
My only regret was that we didn't move Dad earlier.

What a beautiful home. Staff go above and beyond, the home manager is very person-centred ensuring high standards of care are provided. My friend is always engaging in activities with the other residents. I was not sure about visiting my friend at the home as you hear lots of negative stories but visiting

The staff and management are so kind and friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them. My mum thinks a lot of them and says nice things about the staff and management. It is hard when a person you love has to be taken into residential care, but I always feel when I leave mum that she is in good hands.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.786)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.786) out of 10 for Woodlands Manor EMI Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.786 for Woodlands Manor EMI Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (280 Excellents x 5) + (58 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 346 Ratings = 4.786
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodlands Manor EMI Care Home is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2014

I have worked in the care industry for over 30 years, starting at 16, when I joined my first Care Home in Liverpool. From that day on, I knew I wanted to make a difference to all the people I cared for. I have achieved many different vocational qualifications throughout my career, in and around care settings and am always looking to progress to the highest level of achievement. I joined Cedars Care Group in 2014 as a chef at Woodlands Manor, but my love of caring for people encouraged me to join the Care team within my first couple of years. In 2017 Liz became the GSF and Activities Co-Ordinator for all three of our homes in the North West. During this time, I devoted my efforts to helping Woodlands Manor and Cedar Grange gain Gold Standards Framework accreditation and providing stimulating and fun activity events for all the residents. In January 2020, I was eager to get back to supporting and providing care again to the residents and became the Care Manager at Woodlands Manor. I joined Cedar Grange and was promoted to Deputy Manager, in June 2021, before returning to Woodlands Manor to become the Home Manager there in August 2021. I am very passionate about promoting the uniqueness and individuality of people and allowing them the freedom of choice.
As a Home Manager, my primary goal is to honour each person's individuality, recognising and respecting who they were and who they are now. I bring a deep understanding and unwavering passion to my work with individuals living with Dementia/Alzheimer’s, ensuring that our home is a safe, happy, and nurturing environment. I make it a priority that person-centered care is not just a concept, but a lived reality for all, fostering a culture of quality and diversity at Woodlands Manor.

My journey at Woodlands Manor began in November 2025. I have worked in an office environment for the last 20 years and, due to family commitments, wanted to work somewhere closer to home. I can honestly say I love my job here at Woodlands Manor. It is fulfilling in ways I didn’t expect. Everyone here is so friendly and has made me feel like a part of the team from my first day.

I am learning every day about the care industry, and I am excited for my future here.
