Woodlands is a home in the true sense of the word; warm, comfortable and welcoming. Professionals pride themselves on the quality of the care and surroundings they provide and on attention to details – it’s the little things that matter.

In reflection of this, Woodlands Manor receives GSF (Gold Standard Framework) award accreditation in September 2017, achieving a Commend status in giving end of life care.

The owners have arranged the home to make it interesting, varied, surprising and stimulating. Woodlands has many original features you would expect to see from properties built around the 1900s and mixes theses with an exciting and progressive specialist dementia environment.

The communal areas of the home are themed; allowing residents to relax with others and join in various activities, where dedicated staff are on hand to assist with their individual needs. They have a 1950s reminiscence room with original features of TV, telephone, furniture and gramophone. There is also a light and airy garden room and family room. Woodlands know the importance of providing varied and interesting daily activities for residents to promote well-being and purpose.

My father has received exceptional care since moved into Woodlands. All staff are friendly, empathetic and transparent. Nothing is too much trouble and I'm able to visit at any time, which cements further trust and reassurance. His care is consistently of a high standard. Wonderful place, wonderful
staff with kind hearts and huge compassion. Thank you.

I chose this care home for my mother because I had a friend well cared for there and she was well looked after until she died. My mother was a resident at Woodlands Manor, Southport for 3 years. It was incredibly difficult to have to place my mother in a Dementia Care Home. Mum was always treated with
care and compassion, was spotlessly clean and I was kept informed of medical and care issues. My mum enjoyed a pleasant Christmas with lots of entertainment but deteriorated in January and has died. Mum's care at this sad time was exemplary and could not be faulted, the family are all very grateful.

A change of shop floor management has made a fantastic difference to the day to day running of the care home. The staff are much happier and less stressed out, providing calm to patients and visiting families. It's a pleasure to visit now, the staff operate like a happy team since the change. Activities
are poor, residents are sat in chairs most of the day. A change in this would give a remarkable plus to the standard of the home.

In regards to the activities at Woodlands Manor, I can confirm that we have recently appointed an Activities Co-Ordinator who is looking after our 3 NW homes, and will be focusing this year on ensuring that our residents are given the opportunity to participate in a wider variety of stimulating activities.

My grandfather was at Woodlands Manor for a number of years. My grandfather suffered from dementia. It was very hard for us to acknowledge and understand what was happening to him. The staff at Woodlands Manor were very understanding with us. They always updated us with his care and alway looked smart.
The laundry lady always told us if he needed anything, just ask. My grandfather also told us how he enjoyed the food. The care staff couldn't have offered any better care. He could be challenging at times but they showed excellent skills with him when he was. Sadly my grandfather passed away this year. My grandfather was taken to the hospital and there was nothing they could do. I don't know how they did it but all the staff at Woodlands got him home as fast as they could so he was back in his own bed. They got district nurses to come and help that night so he wasn't in any pain or agitated. I know my grandfather couldn't have been more peaceful the last days of his life and happy.

This is a very friendly care home with excellent facilities and very good staff. The home is very clean, warm and the food is excellent. Any queries are quickly dealt with by the staff who are always on hand. there is a large garden which is used in the summer most days for outdoor activities. Other
activities include trips to the cinema and outings on the mini bus.

I often visited my sister when she lived at Woodlands Manor. The staff were always polite and respectful. I feel that my sister and the other residents were treated with the utmost dignity. I witnessed them always laughing with staff. On a couple of occasions, I even witnessed Janet the cleaner getting
them up and dancing with them. When my sister became very poorly the staff were training to do GSF. We had regular meetings about this. I can't express enough the impact it had on my sister in her final days. She was dignified loved pain free and passed away peacefully with us all around her at Woodlands Manor. The care and support they gave us was way beyond exceptional we can't thank them enough.

My husband has been a resident at this home since April 2016.
Few teething problems to start with but all ironed out very quickly.
Very pleasant and caring staff, always showing great respect for residents and family members. Staff always cheerful.

My mother has been resident here for almost a year. She has vascular dementia which is getting worse. Prior to entering Woodlands Manor, she was becoming gradually more insular and avoiding people. When my father died, I moved in with her as a full-time carer, his death caused a huge decline in her
mental health to a point where she forgot him altogether, she became more frustrated with everyday tasks and eventually became quite violent, forcing a move to residential care.
When she moved into Woodlands for a few weeks respite while awaiting assessment, she started to come out of her shell. The staff were stimulating her interest in other people, she was in a caring and socially acceptable (to her) 'hotel' with minimal need to go home (her dementia had taken her back 60 years to her parents' house).
She is quite happy now, being looked after hand and foot, with active social interaction, good food and health care and a stable staffing structure without too much change.

I have worked in the care industry for over 30 years, starting at 16, when I joined my first Care Home in Liverpool. From that day on, I knew I wanted to make a difference to all the people I cared for. I have achieved many different vocational qualifications throughout my career, in and around care settings and am always looking to progress to the highest level of achievement. I joined Cedars Care Group in 2014 as a chef at Woodlands Manor, but my love of caring for people encouraged me to join the Care team within my first couple of years. In 2017 Liz became the GSF and Activities Co-Ordinator for all three of our homes in the North West. During this time, I devoted my efforts to helping Woodlands Manor and Cedar Grange gain Gold Standards Framework accreditation and providing stimulating and fun activity events for all the residents. In January 2020, I was eager to get back to supporting and providing care again to the residents and became the Care Manager at Woodlands Manor. I joined Cedar Grange and was promoted to Deputy Manager, in June 2021, before returning to Woodlands Manor to become the Home Manager there in August 2021. I am very passionate about promoting the uniqueness and individuality of people and allowing them the freedom of choice.
As a Home Manager, my primary goal is to honour each person's individuality, recognising and respecting who they were and who they are now. I bring a deep understanding and unwavering passion to my work with individuals living with Dementia/Alzheimer’s, ensuring that our home is a safe, happy, and nurturing environment. I make it a priority that person-centered care is not just a concept, but a lived reality for all, fostering a culture of quality and diversity at Woodlands Manor.

From my college and university days, where I studied English, History, and law, to my practical experience in hospitality and retail, I have always been driven to expand my horizons. This drive led me to the care industry, where I worked in care in the community, taking care of a wide range of people, including those with dementia, end-of-life, and mental health disabilities. My dedication and leadership skills were quickly recognised, and following promotion, I led a team of 15 carers.
My journey at Woodlands Manor began in October 2022. After working in the community, I returned to an office environment. I started as a trainee administrator and swiftly progressed to the role of home administrator. Upon my arrival, I discovered that the office had been operating without an administrator for a short time, meaning there was a need for a complete reorganisation. I took this as a challenge and have since successfully transformed the office's operations.
My role at Woodlands Manor allows me to continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents and their families. I have such a sense of pride in Woodlands Manor and I am proud to say I work there.
