Me and my siblings could not be happier with Stanhope Court. They have looked after our mum incredibly well since she became a resident, nearly 3 years ago. Staff churn is low, which is particularly important for those with cognitive impairments but most of all, they care about their residents and this
is abundantly clear.
It's a horribly daunting situation when having to place a loved one into care (especially with the horror stories we have all heard about care homes). Stanhope made that whole process much more bearable and we very quickly realised we could trust mum to them. We still have a very active involvement in mum's care, no decision is made without consulting us first but we know that we can also seek the staff's advice on what is best, because they know mum so well, are very experienced with dementia sufferers and genuinely have mum's best interests at heart. My sisters and I must have said 1,000 times how lucky we were to have secured a place at Stanhope for our mum.

My mum has been a resident at Stanhope Residential Care Home for two and a half years.
I have nothing but praise for the standard of care that is provided for my mum, all care staff have treated my mum with the utmost dignity and respect that I could wish for and what was such a difficult discussion
to put my mum into full-time care was made bearable with much support and empathy provided by all staff.
I visit my mum most days and frequently witness staff going the extra mile to care for, entertain, and understand the complex needs of the residents. All residents are always clean and attention to little details are very obviously made.
In my capacity as a community nurse, I visit many residential homes daily and I've witnessed bad environments and practices, I have no hesitation in recommending Stanhope as a wonderful, clean, and caring environment that provides support and empathy for residents and relatives through their very difficult journey of dementia. Thank you, Stanhope.

Our lovely mum has vascular dementia. A room became available and our mum found her new home. The'hotel' as mum refers to it, is beautiful and every consideration, in order to make the residents feel comfortable, is given. We cannot praise the staff too highly; they do a magnificent job under extreme
circumstances. Every single carer treats our mum and all the other patients with respect, with dignity and more especially with love. Cuddles and kisses and a gentle squeeze of their hand are normal gestures given freely every day. Patience is shown to everyone but more importantly to the people that need the extra assistance. Our mum is now one of these, and the attention she gets from all the staff is heart-warming. Our mum is the most important person in our lives and to have to leave her here every day should break our hearts but now we know she is safe, cared for, fed, clean and most importantly loved. Meadowcroft/Stanhope Court has been the answer to our prayers.

This home has no idea how to cope with a dementia patient whose dementia increases over time. We specifically asked the managers of Stanhope Court when we were looking into this home "As my fathers dementia increases what will happen". The managers assured us that this was not a problem and they could
look after my father through this to End of Life. However my fathers dementia did increase and at the first signs of 'trouble' all the managers were interested in was getting my father out of the home so as their 'neck wouldn't be on the line if something happened.

This home is a great home and the carers are FIRST CLASS.

However be aware, as soon as the dementia increases the managers will go down the route of evicting your loved one.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.686)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.686) out of 10 for Stanhope Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.792 for Stanhope Court is calculated as follows: ( (19 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.792

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.894 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Stanhope Court is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 13 registered maximum number of service users is 2.6. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 2.6 = 0.769

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
