As my husband has had to go into care, it has given me peace of mind to know he is in such a caring environment. He is treated with dignity, humour and affection. He is contented and now joins in with the other residents in their various activities.

Mum (age 99) has been living at The Pines since March of this year, and we are extremely grateful for the excellent standard of care that she has been receiving there during these most difficult of times. She has been kept safe and comfortable, enjoying her surroundings (her very nice room looks out
into the garden) and the food. Staff have all been extremely caring over these eight months, and always cheerful despite the challenging circumstances of the Covid crisis. Visits have of course been few and far between because of the various lockdowns, but I look forward to using the newly installed visitor pod tomorrow. Many thanks for the great care you take of Mum, and the peace of mind that we have from that.

My mum went into The Pines in August 2018 and settled in very quickly due to the fantastic staff and pleasant layout etc. We are so pleased that she is being so well looked after and kept happy and safe. We couldn't ask for more from them and would highly recommend The Pines.

Simple but pleasant accommodation. Very happy and pleasant staff. Great food, well varied. Nice gardens, well looked after, friends and relations made most welcome. Entertainment frequently provided including quizzes often included. As a recommendation, I would happily live there myself.

My Husband has been resident at The Pines for 15 months. He is very well looked after and all medical needs are very quickly dealt with. His personal needs are coped with in a way that isn't in any way embarrassing. He enjoys his food and has a very easy relationship with all the carers.

My mum has been at the Pines for a year. She is well looked after by the hard working staff. She is always clean and tidy, has her hair done each week, and clothes are beautifully laundered. The Pines is a homely place. Mum has a lovely room overlooking the garden, where we can sit and have a cup of
tea, just as we used to when she lived in her own home. Food is varied and appetising. Mum soon put back the weight she had lost when she was trying to look after herself.
It is hard when a family member has to move into residential care, but after my initial visit, I knew I wouldn't find anywhere better. My thanks to all the staff.

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.417)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.417) out of 10 for The Pines is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.875 for The Pines is calculated as follows: ( (21 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.875

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.542 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Pines is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.8 = 0.417

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
