I feel safe, it's a home from home atmosphere. I've got friends here now - lots going on, trips out, events to look forward to and I get involved by helping out with the events and I enjoy it. You can do your own thing.

My Mother has been in residence at Salisbury House for the last 3.5 years and has had the best of care she wouldn't have got in the community i.e daily carers to her home which didn't work out and was neglected by not getting correct medication etc.

The social events have brought my Mother out of

herself which she wouldn't have done living in her flat.

First class care, treatment and service throughout both my parent's residency. Only one grievance - when mum died I was told to take all the time I needed to collect her belongings. I was in shock and it was near New Year and I couldn't face it. Very disappointed to realise that I was charged four days
care after she died!
I would like the carers to be aware of this when they say "no rush" as other relatives may be very short of money!
I feel I have paid for my grief and I don't want others to get upset like myself. It has tainted my happy memories of the care home at a time when I had nothing but praise for everyone who helped and cared for my parents.

Reply from Laura Canner, Manager at Salisbury House

We are very sorry to hear of this, we were not aware and would like to apologise for any upset caused. If we were made aware at the time we could have discussed this further and resolved the matter between us.

Having to put my mother into a care home was very worrying. Salisbury House has been so caring, she is so well cared for. Food is good. Cleanliness is exceptionally good. Staff are very caring. No complaints at all.

When looking for a care home for an elderly friend I viewed many, but Salisbury House ticked all the boxes. It was the correct choice, I know that she is cared for much better than I was managing with help. It is a pleasure to visit her. She is clean, well fed and making friends.
The management and
staff are brilliant, caring and treating residents as though they are are one happy family.
I feel so blessed to have my friend cared for so well.

Staff are caring and so patient. Residents are treated like members of their own family. It is a very happy place that ticks along in its lovely routine. All residents are encouraged to take part in activities but respectfully left in peace if that's what they choose. The care received is genuine and
maintains the dignity of residents at all times. Our aunty is in a happy and safe place.

My mum (recently deceased) went into a care home due to increasing concerns over her well being and safety while living alone. Mum had dementia. My wife and I looked at 22 care homes on the Wirral. The fact that we chose Salisbury House speaks volumes. We had no cause for concern regarding her care.
The care workers always presented as caring, non-patronising, efficient and professional. Any concerns we had were listened to and acted on by the supervisory staff. Mum's final days were handled with dignity and genuine concern.

When we started looking for a home providing respite care, we should not have worried. Salisbury House gave our mother outstanding care from owners and staff who went way beyond what was required of them. They have a tremendous ethos and a great atmosphere that is homely, kindly and joyful.

Whilst our mum was only a resident at Salisbury House for a relatively short time we could not have found a more caring environment for her in what proved to be her final few months.

This family run home has a very hands-on management, their choice of staff reflecting their high standards in all

areas. The home always had a cheerful, lively atmosphere and all residents were involved in daily activities and outings. Facilities were always spotlessly clean and fresh, laundry excellently managed and an appetising selection of meals provided.

As mum's health declined the care she received was exceptional and the support for both her and ourselves was truly appreciated. Senior staff were always thoughtful, coordinating mum's care with her welfare as a priority and day to day carers treated mum with dignity, kindness and humour.

All we can say is a huge thank you from us and on behalf of mum. We will always be so thankful that we found Salisbury House.

My Mother who has progressing Alzheimer's stayed at Salisbury House for 2 months earlier this year. During her stay staff were courteous and attentive. The home is family run and they are very much involved in the management and daily running of the home. Amongst both staff and residents there is good
team spirit which really helped in my Mothers stay.

It is very evident that Salisbury House is a well run care home with dedicated and capable staff. My Mum moved to Salisbury House in November 2015 and within two weeks had decided that it was the place for her and she wanted to stay permanently. Mum's physical care has been a priority for the staff
during that time with several issues being picked up and resolved quickly. Most importantly Mum's emotional well being has increased massively since she moved in. The staff are friendly and caring and the general atmosphere is that of a happy home. Mum is very settled and comfortable and thinks the staff are great.

The home itself is well maintained and attractive and there is a lively atmosphere with residents obviously enjoying each others company.

The management and staff are very approachable and always willing to give advice and assistance.

The family feel very lucky to have found such a wonderful home for Mum - a place where we know she is happy and well cared for. Thank you.

My mother-in-law has been attending Salisbury House on a Friday each week since April for daycare. Since attending she has become much more motivated and made new friends. She looks forward to her Fridays where she can take part in the activities and enjoys the outings. She has had periods of respite
care when we have been going on holiday and we were able to go away with the knowledge that she was being well cared for. The management are extremely approachable, friendly and helpful, employing an excellent team to provide a quality delivery of care for all the residents and daycare users. I would have no hesitation in recommending Salisbury house for the care of loved ones.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.776)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.776) out of 10 for Salisbury House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.876 for Salisbury House is calculated as follows: ( (93 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 105 Ratings = 4.876

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Salisbury House is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
